I believe that the cabin could have been a little cleaner and the beds definitely need updated. The landscaping as you pull up was in disrepair along with the retaining wall falling. Then apon entering the cabin we found multiple broken items. Broken blinds, broken coffie table, and exposed wires for the fire place. Then alon going upstairs we found residual cleaning bags filled cleaning materials . Then onto the master bedroom our pillows where covered with a white residue. Now to the outside , we go to use the hot tub and it filled with floating who knows what debris floating in it along with no clorean tablets to be found. Then we went to use the grill and the door fell off onto my wife's foot. This was beyond disappointing paying these rates and not having a clean maintained cabin. Piles of dust in corners of rooms, PILES OF BUGS on the inside windowsills, Upstairs shower leaked into the bedroom below it, there was black hair all over the bathrooms and stuck to walls, ice maker doesn’t work, hot tub was absolutely disgusting with wads of hair floating, and the “extra bed” in basement was a old couch that was broke not usable. The “view” on one side of cabin is of a rock wall and the other is of dead trees with 2 neighbors on the other side so no privacy like advertised. The alarm system doesn’t work, we could tell the windows & ceiling fans haven’t been cleaned in ages. The mattress’s are an absolute joke. You can feel the springs poking your back. There is plenty more to mention but if I were you don’t waste your time and book somewhere else. OH!! I mentioned ALL OF THE ABOVE to the owners and their response was they would have maintenance look into the issue once we left. Absolute joke. It was slacking a bit in the stocked kitchen area but it does have very basic amenities. The main floor does not have a shower only a bathtub so the only showers avaliable are in the master and basement. Wasn't a big problem, we just had to wait on one another due to the big group we had. But, overall we were very happy with our choice and we will definitely be staying with Elk Springs Resport again. However, I personally find the description of the property misleading. It said there are 3 suites, which suggests attached bathroom with showers. The largest suite is upstairs and it did have an on suite. The 2 bedrooms on the main floor had to share a bathroom, and that bathroom doesn't even have a shower in it; so to shower the other couple we were with, had to go downstairs to the game room or upstairs to the largest suite. The cabin was adequate but there was nothing that screamed oh man, we have to go back there. Especially for the money. Overall cleanliness, the big windows hadn't been cleaned and the bugs were on the window sills. I loved the fact everything was conveniently done over the phone, check in and check out. It is far enough in the hills that it offered great quiet when we wanted it but only took us a few minutes to get to the usual locations like Anakeeta and Dollywood. The pictures aren't quite true to what you get, though. It shows better views than we experienced. While you are to expect some growth since they were taken, the trees allowed for no view from the deck at all. I guess the upside is that it allowed for even more seclusion than we expected. The cabin was good, but the cleaning was a little bit to be desired. We called the mgmt company and they did fix our issues VERY quickly. Including a couple of maintenance issues too. I would definitely rent from Elk Springs again. There is very little internet, so be prepared for that, although we were glad about the break from the web. The biggest complaint that we had was that the mattress in the master was not good at all. Very noisy because of the protective cover and it was very soft and lumpy. All in all, we enjoyed our stay. We didn't spend as much time as we thought in the cabin, so it all worked out in the long term as far as the challenges that we had. With the exception of the bed, they were very minor in the scheme of it all. Fireplace in LR never worked (Office said this was “vendor” issue) Master bedroom is upstairs and 2 bedrooms on main level share hall bath. There is 1 jacuzzi, not 2 as described on website. 3rd full bath is in basement where there is no bedroom. Hot tub is small, but clean and hot. It is in a strange place, directly in front of kitchen door (little crowded) There is no outside light at grill so you must do your grilling before dark thirty. Smaller maintenance issues reported and fixed by Travis exceeded our expectations. He was very pleasant and informative. Wi-Fi was sketchy at best. Communication with office was all reliant on text. (No one would answer phone ~ “high call volume” for real, that’s what the office is for.........). Check in and check out were a breeze. The resort did contact me afterwards and issued a small credit for our inconvenience (approx 10% of price) which was greatly appreciated. An old mail package left behind by housekeeping showed delivery of a new router a month before...indicating a recent problem with the satellite internet provider. We had to sweep the dead bugs and other trash left in the game room before we could enjoy it. You should be aware that the 2 bedrooms on the main floor share a bathroom that does not include a shower. Also, the "peak" rate starts too early in October. Fall colors are still a week or two away. One of the highlights was seeing a mother bear and her two young cubs walking around our cars in the driveway while we were on the porch. The basement area that had the ping pong table / washer and dryer was the only area that was slightly unkept, it has a few dead insects and storage items down there. Also someone who had come along had not realized on their GPS where the place was and nearly went of off a cliff type thing. so be careful on the up to the cabin. Hot tub was nice on tired bodies, though it’s smaller than the picture makes it look, so plan for 3 soakers, tops. Beds, however, leave much to be desired. Not sure if they’re old or just super broken down (or both?) but just getting out of bed in the master suite/loft woke my kids up down below, and they weren’t very comfortable. Pullout sofa in basement was also low quality for sleeping. Each bed has one very nice blanket or comforter, but if you think you’ll need extra, you won’t find them in the cabin. Same for hot tub towels; enough were provided for the 6 people in our party, but that towel needed used for both hot tub time and shower afterward, so pack accordingly. Kitchen is adequately appointed for very basic cooking, though coffee filters are NOT provided as description says. Grab some at the store if you need your morning cuppa joe! Millipedes have hatched out (early June), so we found it helpful to wear house shoes and shake out any clothes or towels you leave lying on the floor. Cabin has internet provided, but it’s too weak to load email, so remote work wasn’t possible like we’d planned. Cell service is sparse at this location. The kitchen is really lacking things like enough silverware, large bowls, storage bowls, tools for cooking, tools for the grill, etc. Washer and dryer is in basement so could use a laundry basket to carry clothes. Lastly we knew it was in the mountains and somewhat remote but we literally had ZERO cell, internet, and only one tv had signal. Don’t anticipate being able to communicate of work while here. The cabin was listed as having 3 master sweets it in fact has one the other 2 bedrooms each have a bathroom but one bathroom is on the main floor and the other bathroom is down in the game room that is not a master sweet. One of the blinds was missing on one of the doors and the blind on the kitchen window didn’t even have the peice to turn to open it up. You can see daylight in the cracks of all the doors that lead to outside which allows for bugs to come in. All the kitchen chairs were being held to get her with wood glue and screws and were still very wobbley in fact my husband was sitting in one of the chairs and just barely moved and the one leg broke all the way off the chair when we called they came and insted of fixing it or replacing the chair they just took the chair which then made us short a chair. Down in the garage their is a old sofa and broken stand a Christmas tree just thrown in their all of which was very tacky looking.. the game room was listed as having a foos ball table and it didn’t even have one I understand things brake and don’t get replaced but then they should be removed from the listing their was a dart board which didn’t even have any darts. O and to top this all off it says it has a fully stocked kitchen well they need to spend a little money and buy some silverware their wasn’t one single normal size fork in their they were all baby forks that is very hard to eat with. This cabin had loads of potential if a little upkeep would have simply been dun. Centipedes were coming from outside underneath the basement door. Suggest resealing the door and applying bug spray around the cabin. Noticed many cobwebs in the basement bathroom and on ceiling beams throughout the cabin. Also smelled stale cigarette smoke inside the basement and main floor. I know it may not seem like something important to retrieve but even if it was seems like they didn’t care and would retrieve it at their convenience. I tried to be patient and understanding but seeing I doubt they were slammed with reservations due to Covid they could have had someone retrieve it for customer satisfaction. The name of the cabin is fitting as it was fairly secluded. However, I wouldn't define this as a Luxury cabin by any stretch of the imagination. There were basic kitchen amenities there but to classify is as luxury i would think a little extra thing like salt, pepper, baggies or foil anything really would be nice.There were no extra pillows or blankets anywhere to be found and we ended up having to buy blankets the next day. The heating works but the place is screaming hot in one room and an ice box in the basement. At least a 10 to 15 degree difference. Even with that said the cabin was nice, could certainly use some TLC to truly make it a luxury cabin. I could have gotten over all of the other stuff, but the one thing the just threw off the whole experience was the hot tub. Which if your going to use the hot tub a one of your main pics and selling points to stay somewhere you should **** well make sure it's clean. We were there with a family of two with 3 kids and of course they were dying to get in the tub (as was I at first). We got them set up and while the adults were in the kitchen we here "Oh gross there is a long hair in here!" I go out thinking no biggy I'll just pull it out. Well to my surprise it wasn't just a hair but rather a huge hair ball (think shower/tub drain type scenario) and not just one but multiple! Plus the water was just cloudy and had "other" particles floating around. So we immediately get the kids out and I go to call Elk Springs Resort to get it cleaned. While I do appreciate secluded, they need to provide a landline up there as there is 0 cell coverage and there Wifi was horrible. Outside wood around windows seems to be rotting. Repairs on posts holding up the deck are are cheap makeshift and a little scary. Perma flooring on main level needs to be replaced. Upstairs screens have holes and very loose requiring keeping them closed so lines of bugs stay out. And that's a problem because heating the downstairs to the mid 60s makes the upstairs feel like a furnace. Only one roll of toilet paper for the main level bathroom seemed a little cheap. Old, old decorating accessories also make it look cheap. With a bit more care this could be a luxury cabin, but right now it really is not. No need to have them...just leave it bare and clean. Kitchen was clean. Maint answered our calls promptly. Check in and out was easy. We appreciated the security system. We have been waiting 5 days for a call back from the manager and have called everyday trying to speak to a manager and we are told, "We'll have someone call you." GOOD LUCK if you chose to stay at this resort in their cabins. Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge have tons of other options and my best advice to you would be to look elsewhere unless you wish to be disappointed and ripped off. First off two of the beds were awful. One bed was like a broken down horse all saggy in the middle even after we flipped the mattress and it creaked like horror movie stairs. The other one had two or three layers of foam placed in the center to compensate for its broken down state which only made things worse due to my "princess and the pea" syndrome. None of the sheets fit the beds correctly they were all to small. My other issue with the cabin was dust and cobwebs. I know spiders are fast but come on, some one is cleaning these places after every use. Look up people!! All of the curtains were covered in dust. Cobwebs draped most of the ceilings. The laundry had a giant 12 to 15 inch long cobweb above the washer. I knocked it down. That being said the cabin is beautiful and spacious. The locations is great. Its really peaceful. We actually almost wrecked the vehicle on two different occasions!! We contacted maintenance at elk springs resort. The customer service representives were EXCELLENT with our issues but unfortunately they had to contact an outside vendor & the issue was not resolved while we were there!! I would never stay at this cabin again because of that reason. I did not report the cleaning issues but I feel like the cabin had not been used in sometime. There were cobwebs all throughout the cabin, dead stinkbugs and ladybugs in the window seals and floors! I've owned a cleaning business myself for 15 years. I felt like they could've done a better job. The reason I did not contact housekeeping was because we got in late Wednesday night and were exhausted and had a full schedule and I just didn't really feel like taking the time to call after calling maintaintence three other times for nonworking light bulbs around the deck, water laying in the bottom of the dishwater, and of course the driveway. BUT we did stay in another elk springs resort property for our honeymoon in May 2014 called Fontana and it was excellent and I would highly recommend that. The Cabin was nice as long as you do not need wifi,(which I had to being gone from work for so long) i could not send or receive emails most of the stay.And the kids could not use there iPad's(which made my wife and myself's trip terrible because all they wanted to do was fight). Elk Springs sent there on site maintenance guy out several times to try to fix it.But could not.They even called and had the network company out to try to fix it.But no luck.They said the cabin owners need to buy a new modem. Sounds like that is not going to happen anytime soon because the owners are too cheap to do it!! In fact all but 1 of the Tv's are so out dated,i think they bought new ones for there house and put the old ones in there Cabin. So besides having to go into town to use my computer for work and the kids not able to use there electronics.The cabin was beautiful.But i will never be back to this cabin!! There are way too many nicer ones out there! Elk Springs did all they could do and did apologize several times about the situation.But there hands where tied. It's quite easy to find & allows for easy access to Dollywood, Dixie Stampede, Ober, Ripleys, etc. While spending downtown at the cabin we really enjoyed the different game tables. BTW, no air hockey (as listed in description) & the fooseball one has been much....loved. (smile) The bedrooms have comfortable beds & lots of storage. Major downside/inconvenience for us: although the description says "suites" which gives the impression that each bedroom has an attached bathroom, they do not. Only the master on the top floor is a bed/bath combo. Neither extra bedroom has its own bath. One bath is on the bottom floor gameroom & the other bath is on the main floor. Again, may not be an issue for your stay -- just wanted to give a heads-up. The kitchen was well-stocked with cooking items (pots/pans, utensils, etc.). The couch is different than the one pictured -- it's newer (& wonderfully comfortable!), has electric recliners on each end (push a button to extend/retract), & doesn't have the lounge. The fireplace kept us warm & cozy and was easy to operate. The cabin was freshly cleaned & the kids lovvvved that some of the towels/wash clothes were folded into shapes. (smile) Outside, there is a good amount of parking space and minimal yard. It was nice to be close to all of the restaurants and shopping, but still be on a quiet and secluded road. We were able to enjoy the hiking and waterfalls in the area, such as "Grotto Falls" and Metcalf Bottom's Picnic Area. In addition, we loved the "Dixie Stampede" show in Pigeon Forge and the "Uber" Park in Gatlinburg. This part of Tennessee has a lot of different activities, for both tourists and nature lovers. You feel like you are truly secluded while at the cabin; when in actuality you are only 5-15 minutes away from most attractions in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. Check-in time is 3pm. They call you when the property is ready and give you the alarm code. I got my call around 3:20pm so not bad at all. The cabin was very clean upon arrival. It wasn't spotless, but I've yet to stay somewhere that was. The cabin itself is beautiful. More inside than out, but I didn't plan on sitting in the parking area and staring at the outside so again no complaints. I didn't have to speak to management about any issues so that's a good thing too. The cabin comes with plenty of dinnerware and utensils plus a small assortment of pots and pans. The only thing missing is there was no frying pan/skillet. I had to fry bacon in a small pot. Not an ideal way to do it but no big deal though. I only have two real complaints about my stay. The cabin description states 5 DVD players. One for each tv. There were only 2. One in the living room and one in the master bedroom. Not a super big deal since I had older teens with me, but it might be if you have smaller kids. The other complaint is while cabin has free Wi-Fi, it's so slow it's practically useless. It took me an average of 15 minutes to download my e-mail. Accessing a website was impossible. My wife and I still have to keep in touch with work via the internet even while on vacation. With a super slow Wi-Fi connection and no cell phone service at the cabin(we have AT&T)going into town to hop on Wi-Fi at McD's or somewhere was a huge inconvenience. The kids brought their laptops to use Netflix; which would've been useful since there were no DVD players in the bedrooms, but the app wouldn't even load. I would still recommend you give this property a chance. It's beautiful, quiet and very conveniently located. The game room and hot tub were also a plus. Only down side is the master suite is above the other 2 bedrooms so downstairs hears everything. Downstairs bedrooms share a bathroom. Curiously we had a cardinal try repeatedly to fly into our bedroom window every morning - for about an hour!? Despite that, great 4 night stay." It was great to watch our Cleveland Browns while on vacation after a hike to a waterfall in the mountains. The wrap around deck was also nice. No real view here but looking out into the fall woods, you really do feel secluded. There are a few cabins down the way and farther up the hill but nothing close. The check in / check out is super easy and our gps on our phones got us around without any signal problems FYI Overall this place was everything we expected and a lil more.
