Rustic Waterfront Camping Cabin on Candlewood Lake with a deck, dock and outhouse. One room (12 x 16) with a futon, table/chairs and basic cooking utensils. Limit of 4 people overnight. No outside camping. Outside we have a table, cooking counter, propane bbq grill and a chiminea.
Boat access only, no road access. 3 miles from public boat ramp. No power or phones (cell phone service only). Abuts 1000 acres of open space on 3 mile long wooded peninsula. Fishing, hiking, birding, swimming, waterskiing.... Reachable by kayak or canoe in 1 hour from Squantz Pond State Boat Ramp (Candlewood Lake Ramp). Summer water temperature is around 80º.
We provide: blankets and pillows for the futon (bring your own sheets or sleeping bags), basic cookware, plates and utensils, propane and firewood. There is usually an assortment of things like paper towels, bug candles and bug spray in the cabinet.
You only need to bring: food, drinking water, flashlights, lanterns, sheets/pillowcases and/or sleeping bags.

"I and my family are just back from a week's stay at Rich's and Pam's cottage. My 9, 7, and 5 year old kids said it was the best vacation they've ever experienced, besting Virginia Beach and Disney World. The lake is very calm during the week; couldn't ask for better water skiing conditions. The cottage is quiet and secluded. There are enough amenities to make a weeklong stay comfortable, while still getting a camping-like experience. Besides boating, tubing, and skiing, we managed to reel in tons of blue gill, a few small mouth's, and rock bass right from the dock. There's also easy hiking along the old logging trails that traverse Vaughn's Neck, and some neat "bear caves" (sans the bears) to explore, provided you're not scared of cave crickets! :-) Oh, there's an abundance of delicious wild blueberries, too, if you visit in late July or August. As a father of three, the best part, for me, was watching the kids have old fashioned fun - no TV or video games. Thanks again, Rich and Pam!"

"My family and I just spent a spectacular 4th of July weekend in this small but wonderful cabin. It was neat and clean with all the amenities you need. This is definitely more of a camping type experience so if you are afraid of bugs or outhouses then this is not your type of vacation. Thanks Rich and Pam!!!"
