Come stay and play at the Cherry on Top, Ocean Village’s premier rental! Private Pool! On the pond and two doors from the community pool, Cherry on Top offers 4 bedrooms with plenty of sleeping options: the party room has two bunk beds and a hide-a-bed sleeping 6 comfortably; the dual master bedrooms both have a private bath and king sized bed; and the family bedroom has a full over queen bunk bed, perfect for three. There’s even a hide-a-bed in the living room. There is a full bath on the main floor and a half bath under the house in the party area. A house on stilts gives you the perfect place to park or get together, and this Cherry comes complete with a bar, half bath and a small PRIVATE POOL. TVs in every room and a smart TV in the living room if you want to bring your Netflix log in. Ocean Village's Cherry on Top is a great place to make new memories.
All this and it's pet friendly! Pet fees are an additional $20.00+tax, per pet, per night. A maximum of 3 pets are allowed. NO GARAGE ACCESS!
Larger family group? Need more room?! There’s Money in the Banana Stand is right next door and in the primo poolside location! There's Money in the Banana Stand is a 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom that offers 2 king master suites that include private baths. One bunk room with 2 bunks that sleeps 4. And the family bedroom offers one full over queen bunk bed, sleeps 3+ comfortably.

Port A Escapes will contact you on the day of your arrival, typically in the afternoon once your property is ready, to provide an access code to the property. Overall great place!! I did mention when I called about a/c Friday ,orning that the master to the left, the bathroom sink would not drain, couldn't even brush your teeth and the shower heads are awful, there's NO pressure and they spray straight down, awful. But like I said other than that, it was great! Thank you!! "

"It was ok
The house was extremely hard to find in the dark when we first arrived. Would recommend additional lighting and providing people with clear instructions on the location. I wasn’t crazy about how close together the homes were but it wasn’t too bad because nobody was in the houses on either side of us. It would have been annoying in the busy season. The house itself was cleaned very well by the cleaning crew though there are some damaged areas that nobody has bothered to fix. The outside was not cleaned at all. My kids and I were hanging out in the rocking chairs on the porch and the porch was covered with cigarette ashes from prior guests. I’m guessing a mixture of cigarette ashes and sand was in the pool as well. It was filthy and upon our arrival on Friday I reached out and asked for it to be cleaned. I was told someone would come out Saturday and when nobody showed up Saturday I sent a follow up text and was completely ignored. I found that to be totally unprofessional and as a result would never rent from this company again. "

"Great family fun close to the beach
We frequent Port A at least 4 times a year and love it so much. We have become very familiar with the areas that we do and don't like. We love the Ocean Village neighborhood. It's so close to the beach (but golf cart or vehicle are suggested). The house was nicely appointed with everything we needed and the pool was perfect with the bathroom and refrigerator downstairs. It is a little confusing of whose check-in instructions you follow when renting this house but we figured it out. We'd go back!"

"Family Beach Trip
We loved having the pool, the house is neat. Management was quick to take care of issues we had. Highly recommend better lighting for outside. Being by a pond you should expect some bugs - it’s part of it. Home could have been cleaned better. Upon arrival the floor felt very Sandy and dirty. Some of the sheets were stained and or dirty. Overall would recommend. If you have little ones you may want to opt out to a more secluded location. Lots homes close together which is awesome if you music and people talking loud. For the two toddlers we had with us it was hard for them to sleep during day and at night due to how noisy it was and the golf carts blaring music (which we loved as adults). Easy to rent and loved the outdoor area. Thanks and until we meet again Port A stay salty. "

Nice house with private pool. Room for everyone. Great covered area where the whole family can set up chairs and visit with a nice breeze. No direct access to the beach so a beach permit for your vehicle or cart will be needed. Can’t wait till the next time. "

Our large family has come to Port A for 8 years. 3 of the visits have been in the Ocean Village neighborhood. Cherries on Top has been the worst experience of all our stays. Kitchen was NOT equipped properly. Very few pans, coffee left in coffee pot from previous guests, the house was so hot when we checked in we had to go buy fans for the first night. It took 12 hours to cool off. (Unacceptable when you know guests are arriving.)Dining room chairs were broken down and upholstery coming off. After the first day we saw large roaches at night. Going up the dining room wall and others on the living room rug running under the couch. Very disturbing. An old rusted out grill was not hauled away and left rusted shavings around the pool. Random pieces of debris were all around the pool area and outside kitchen area. An accumulation of old trash was around the outside air conditioning unit and posed such an eye sore. Huge cotton candy type cobwebs were in the corner of the dining room. Our complaints were reported to management. They brought us a toaster and can opener that worked but our other concerns were not addressed. "

"Great End of Summer Getaway
We came to sneak in another weekend before summer ending. It was my family, parents and brother's family. Plenty of room for all 9 of us. Still had room for others. House was clean and had everything we needed. The pool and outdoors was a huge hit with the kids and we enjoyed the evenings outside. We have stayed in Ocean Village twice and loved it. We will be coming back. "

"Great beach house, great location & pool!
Great rental. Perfect spot with no back neighbors, view of the pond, and private pool! The only issues we had was the A/C and TVs. The back pink room was HOT and you couldn’t adjust the fan to go any higher. We could not get the TVs to work, even after following the detailed instructions in the handbook. "

"Needs some TLC
The property needs some TLC. There has been attempts to fix holes in wall with Spackle but no paint and some spots that were painted the paint is a completely different color. The shuffle board skin is peeling off on the legs, one of the drawers inside of the refrigerator was broken, the furniture in the living room has lots of wear and tear (pleather is peeling, overall looks a lot different than the beautiful photos on the website. The pool was nice but could use some attention. "

"Can you say AMAZING!!!!
Cherry is a great house for a family, friends or a girls get away! The large table is great for dining, a work station and/or cards. The pool area is perfect for kids and adults. Plenty of seating around the pool, a Baja ledge in the pool, a bathroom, a bar, grill, picnic tables, shower and more!! There is always something to do in town, at the beach or at the house. We also rented the golf cart which was great to get to the beach which is just down the street :) Port A is a great place to vacation and this house made it perfect. "

"Not worth the money
The house was average. We picked this property specifically for the “heated” pool, but the pool was ice cold the entire time. We stay in port a frequently and we have stayed in a lot better, more comfortable homes than this for less or the same money. The only tv that worked was the tv in the living room and that one barely worked. I put in a maintenance request the day we arrived and no one ever showed up or called. We will not be staying at this property again. "

The house overall was good for a family weekend getaway. There were some cleanliness issues however like, finding popcorn on one of the beds, kids hand prints all over a full size mirror, a fly in the coffee pot and a vape pen and bead necklaces around the pool. "

"Great multi family vacation home
Overall this was a good vacation rental in a great location (literally two left turns and at the beach). The staff was friendly and handled a mishap pretty well. The AC was not working and they had it fixed by about 10 pm of arrival day. The rooms and beds had plenty of space for guests although the mattresses weren’t the greatest but they just weren’t our preference. The home was overall clean but there was one set of bedsheets that had not been cleaned/changed(there was a stain through both layers of sheets). I was glad I checked because we were about to tuck one of our children in and it did put a question in our mind if the rest of the sheets had been changed or not. The private pool isn’t really what I would call a pool. It was more of a sitting pool to cool down in and allow a couple kids to swim around. Besides the fact that the pool needs to be resurfaced, it was very dirty when we arrived. The flowers, leaves and sticks weren’t a big deal but there was several plastic items that I cleaned out as well.
I would still recommend this rental for a big family or multiple families to stay in because of the space and proximity to the beach.

"Great House!
We stayed here on a whim and it was very enjoyable! The house was kept up very well and had everything we needed. My only complaints would be that there were no closets, and that the TV was very difficult to operate (there are two sets of instructions in the unit) and the internet kept going out which would mess up the TV. Since we weren't spending much time watching TV, it wasn't a huge problem...just frustrating to the kids! The pool and downstairs bar set up are great and very convenient. As is the downstairs half bath! Overall a great place, and we would definitely return. "

Great home! Plenty of space for our large family. The only issues we had were that we found a few roaches, someone came to clean the pool and made us all get out for 30 mins (probably should have been done early in the AM or in between rentals), and the AC unit did not adequately cool the home (especially at night)."

"An Amazing Girls Trip To Be Remembered
A group of ladies rented Cherry on Top and There's Money in the Banana Stand together and let me tell you, it was the best experience ever. My rental was Cherry on Top. The exterior is so fun, perfect for entertaining with ample seating, BBQ area, beautiful furniture and its own private pool! The pool was the perfect temperature and had a shallow area for lounging. Perfect after a day at the beach. These two units are also connected to the community pool which we did take advantage of as well. Inside, the decor is bright and sunny with every amenity you could imagine. Stocked kitchen, flat screen TVs in every bedroom, TWO master bedrooms with en suite bathrooms and balconies, a bunk room that seemed to be able to sleep at least 8 people if I am counting right. Every detail is paid attention to. The linens, artwork, lighting fixtures - these units hit every single mark. Very clean and well maintained. Location wise, very close to the beach and shopping. I would stay here again in a heartbeat, wish I was there right now!"

This property is beautiful and well thought out for a large family vacation. The decor is vibrant and colorful. There are numerous little details that make it perfect if you have a large group - plenty of seating, a downstairs bar area with an additional refrigerator by the two pools available for this property (one small private one that can be heated) and the larger community pool right next door), a shuffleboard table in the common/living room, and a beautiful lagoon/pond with some catch-and-release fishing action for the kids. We loved it and will book Cherry on Top for our next Port A trip."

"Not a happy vacation goer!
Home was not very clean. Dishes were in the dishwasher but they were dirty and no dish washing soap was present. I didn't know we had to bring our own cleaning materials. There was a little bit of dishliquid so we washed dishes as we used them. The first day we got there, the pool was filthy! they came out to clean it the next day but we had to wait till later in the evening to use it because of all the chemicals that were added. Roaches were every where, living room, kitchen and baths! Someone came out to spray the home and sprayed the pantry with all of our kitchen bags resting on the floor..some of which included our personal paper towels, plastic utensils and paper plates. We had to throw that all away because bug spray was all over them and also inside of our bags. The last day, I went to wake up my 7 year daughter so we can prepare for checkout, and as I pulled the covers back, a large roach crawled from under her sheets that she was sleeping in and headed towards her pillow and face! I screamed and she flew out of bed and we honestly couldn't get out of there fast enough. "

"Annual vacation in Port A
Very helpful staff and great company. However, house was not finished- bathroom downstairs was not complete. Swings in front of house were torn down?? There was no wifi as advertised, the shuffle board didn't have sand and when requested, maintenance delivered normal beach sand which may ruin the game and was still unplayable. "

Overall it was fantastic real easy check in process not far from beach , real nice service the one thing I will say is the wifi is terrible although the fun we had at this house kind of made up for it. "Brand new property
The property is/was brand new with new appliances and TV's throughout the house. Lots of beds and very clean.
Some of the issues I experienced were that they were in the midst of construction on both sides of the property. They started early and would leave their equipment and tools in the driveway. They also attached their hoses and un-did ours. One job site played country music and the other was Tejano music, but both started earlier than I would have liked. When I spoke with management company I was told that they can start construction at 6am and there was nothing they could do about it.
The other issue we experienced was that the property advertised a half bath downstairs and a bar downstairs. When we got there they were both locked. I later convinced the rental folks to give us a key and both rooms were unfinished; i.e. no sink or toilet downstairs as advertised and the bar was just an empty room. I'm sure these issues will be resolved in the near future and both of those rooms will be perfect but they weren't done as of 6/26/16.
The last thing I'll mention is that there was a video camera looking down on the pool which I found to be a little creepy.
