Mustang Bungalow 4MI is a spacious one bedroom one bath condo. The bedroom has a queen size bed and the living room has a new 32" flat screen TV and full size futon sofa. The total sleeping capacity is 4 people. There is a full kitchen equipped with everything you will need to cook your catch after a long day of fishing. The grounds are nicely manicured, complete with mature citrus trees. There are fish cleaning facilities on the property. The beach is approximately 2 blocks away but close enough to feel the gulf breezes. PETS NO LONGER ALLOWED AFTER NOVEMBER 8, 2023!!!

"You get what you pay for!
We arrived a day early because of a great offer to Check in early! We arrived late in a Thursday evening and it was clean and the air conditioning was perfect! However the stench of marijuana was all I could smell. This was a family trip with my two kids and wasn’t wanting to explain to them what that smell was. I understand you can’t really control what everyone does and Port A is a party place but I’m pretty sure in the signed contract we’re not supposed to smoke anything in the condo. I did call and speak to a rep from Port A Escapes and she offered a decent discount from our stay. She also offer for maintenance to bring in an “ozone machine” but that wouldn’t help fix the smell from the next smoking session. She also offered to move us to another location but we would have to live back the next night due to them being completely full. The beds weren’t horrible but definitely bring your own pillow. We will not stay here again but I will definitely book again with Port A Escapes!"

Our rental was cozy, had most of the items we needed and was comfy and very convenient to our go to places. It was a bit noisier than we are used to but quiet between 10p and 7a. I’d have preferred it be a bit cleaner on check in but the issues were minor. No dishwasher, heads up! We got great value for our money. "

"Close to Beach!
This is the first time we’ve stayed here. It was clean & close to the beach. Just wish there were chairs to sit outside. I’d recommend anyone planning to stay here to bring extra towels & trash bags. Would definitely stay here again!"

"Happy and disappointed at the beach
It was clean and close to the beach but outdated decoration and most furnishings. The shower handle is from 1972, outdated kitchen, rusty fridge. The toilet paper holder is rustier than a submerged nail and it smelled like the place hasn’t been aired out since the 70’s. The closet door falling over. Just being honest"

"Photos not as accurate as I would hope
It appears that the photos included on Vrbo/Expedia are fairly old, as most of the wear and tear visible when walking in the condo is not pictured in the advertised booking sites. For example, significant rusting and water damage was noticed. There was not as much natural sunlight that reaches the inside of the apartment as we were led to believe, and most lighting provided yellowish light compared to the bright lights seen in the photos. The blinds in the bedroom were broken so you could not turn them open. Fan in the bathroom did not work. Most concerning was the presence of BLACK MOLD on both sets of vents in the living room and bedroom. I would also refrain from saying this would comfortably sleep 4, unless you want to use the living area for 2 of your guests and have no privacy. Rental agency also gave incorrect check in information (was told there were be a door code to enter, but nothing was there to punch in a code). We needed to call and have someone drive over with the keys. At least we were walking distance from the beach."

"It'll do
This property was the only one available for this weekend that didn't have a pet size limit and we have large dogs.
It was in a good location and its configuration made it easy to access the property. The front yard made it convenient to walk the dogs.
The property description saying it was recently updated felt misleading because only the bedroom was, the rest of the property wasn't. Old would have been okay though if it were clean. The place was dusty and the air filter looked like it hasn't been replaced in years. The tub was grimy and I had to scrub it before giving my little boy a bath. "

We were very happy with our rental experience the condo was clean everything was in working order the people they were friendly. It we were happy with the location. The condo was as advertised the only complaint we have is the mattress on the futon was thin and lumpy and uncomfortable the mattress in the bedroom was absolutely wonderful the rental company was extremely helpful when we had a little problem with forgetting my billfold in Minnesota but otherwise we will be back"

"REAKED OF SMOKE
The property was fine, staff were very friendly and professional. However, this property REAKED of the smell of cigarette smoke. I am not just talking about maybe the people that stayed before smoked - I am talking about it was like in the walls, and in the carpet itself. It smelled like someone had been smoking inside for decades. It was soo overpowering that it was the first thing you notice when you walk in, the last thing you think about before you sleep, and the first thing you think of when you wake up. It was absolutely disgusting and my husband and child were unable to just relax comfortably. I called to complain and the staff said they would call me back, and never did. The issue was not resolved. Will not be staying at this property again, and would advise against renting it."

"Great Location, Terrible Bed!
This property is in a great area, good for dogs, clean but dated, nice daily price, great AC, stocked kitchen but the futon and bed are terrible for your back. Others have complained about the bed, they need to upgrade the mattresses in the bed and futon. Also the keys are labeled MI which looks like M1 so you are not sure if it is M14 or MI4. We talked to other guests who was also confused. It would be better if labeled MI-4 or MI#4.
If you leave a message a day or two before to inquire about early check-in. Don't be surprise if they do not get back to you. We We showed up an hour early, front desk said that the message system is received by reservation office but the front desk did not get any message so we had to wait outside 45 minutes after our 4 hour trip. When I picked up the keys they said take out the trash and put dishes in the dishwasher before leaving. There is NO dishwasher in this condo.
We had a great weekend regardless but left with sore backs and we are active people."

The condos are nice and roomy but don’t expect to go there to relax. If you’re looking for a quiet place to rest, this is not the place for you. "Cute little condo
The condo was a lot more spacious than I expected; plenty of room for the two of us. Super cute, quiet, and people around were nice. Very close to everything. Really the only complaint I have was the bed wasn't super comfortable, but I padded it with blankets and that was solved. Also no outdoor shower, so things got a little sandy."

It's not a very pleasant review I am about to give. When we arrived our lodgings looked like it had not been updated since 1970s not at all like the one displayed on the internet. There was paint missing from the rr door and a huge heat spot on the tiny kitchen wall, also the refrigerator ice maker didn't work nor did the tv in the living area. There was a futon for a couch, and midway through the water was shut off for three hours."

Checking in was a challenge. The on line pictures looked a lot better than it actually was. If I had seen it first I would never have booked, much less stayed.
Everything is worn ( very ), the front screen door is rusty and would consistently jam. The front door would barely seal. I would not recommend this property at all."

This was a nice, little weekend getaway for my family and me. We were very pleased with this unit, better than others we have stayed in the same complex in the past. Everything as stated in description. Great value. Only complaint was the front screen door was super dated/noisy. We felt like it disturbed neighboring units and our sleeping toddler. And key pick up lock box was a little confusing, maybe operator error. "

"Great stay!
We stayed here for a long weekend with our 11-year-old dog, and would definitely do it again, especially at this price. The condo is not huge, and it's certainly not the Ritz-Carlton, but it's nice, clean and quiet. We were only a 10-minute walk from the beach, and an easy drive as well. There is a queen-sized bed in the bedroom and a full-size futon in the living room. We had plenty of clean towels, and the kitchen was great (except no dishwasher). Port A Escapes was very helpful and even loaned us a grill for the weekend! We will definitely stay here on a return trip."

"Sweet and simple, no internet access
We stayed for a weekend in October with our dog. Our room was clean and well furnished. There were plenty of dishes but no other basics like salt/pepper. We did enjoy using the fish house to clean the fish we caught. When we arrived we discovered there was no wi-fi, even though the Port A Escapes app said there was. After calling the office I was told that the app just shows default wi-fi information that doesn't necessarily apply to the room you are staying in. I was also told that if the rental description does not say "wi-fi" that means there is none, in other words, no where on the rental website does it say "no wi-fi", it just excludes the information all together. I would have considered other places to stay in Port Aransas had I been made aware of the internet situation. Also it seemed like some of the apartments had permanent residents living in them, so I felt uncomfortable leaving my dog alone in our room a few times, knowing that he barks when he hears closing doors and that he was disturbing the residents who live there full-time. I thought the whole building was made up of rental rooms but that wasn't the case. Overall it was a pleasant stay, the pillows were fluffy, but the lack of provided internet in 2015 was disappointing. "

Arrived to find floors filthy. I had to sweep up sand, pet hair, and human hair. The ceilings next to the air vents were black with dirt and the air filter was black. The first night, the people at the pool behind us yelled and partied until 4:00am. No sleep, even after calling the police twice."

We had a great time in Port A. This apartment was large enough for me, my husband, and my two young daughters. It isn't the Ritz-Carlton, but for the price it was a great place. It reminded me of my old college apartment. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook a few meals in. The reviews are right about the bed, though. It is pretty uncomfortable. But otherwise it was a great place. If we go to Port A again, I would definitely stay here. It is not close enough to the beach to walk, but it's a short enough distance enough you could ride a bike or rent one of the many golf carts on the island."

This place is dirty and it really stinks of cigarette smoke. There is a NO SMOKING sign in the unit, however either people have ignored this and smoked in the unit, or the smoke from other tenants seeps through the walls (every single other person I saw during our stay here was smoking. Every. Single. Person. Every time I saw them. To be clear, I NEVER saw a person that was NOT smoking). If you do not smoke and cannot be around smoke. Do not stay in these condos. The particular unit we stayed in could really use some paint (that would REALLY help with the smell!), and some new linens for the couch and bed. Nothing fancy is needed, but what was on there is stained and gross looking. It was the cheapest I could find, but I will avoid staying here in the future if I can."

Everything in the unit was great except there's no cutting board. One tip, when you unfold the futon, you have to be careful not to touch cable power on the back of futon bed. I accidentally touch and removed from the outlet, so my kids couldn't watch CN for the stay."

Overall our stay was very good, the only disappointment was to find that our sheets in the bedroom had dog hair, meaning they were not clean. From the previous comments I was expecting to find a very clean place so the sheets issue was thumb down."

"A little disappointed
After reading the great reviews about 4MI, we were excited to stay there. When we got to Port A Escapes, our keys were in the wrong lockbox. Luckily, the after hours people were very helpful and we were able to get our keys along with everyone else that was trying to get theirs. All the lockboxes were messed up. We got to 4MI and opened the door to what smelled like a SMOKING ROOM, not one that is specifically NONSMOKING. It was as if the last tenants lit up a couple of cartons indoors. Our clothes and belongings still reek like stale cigarette smoke. On top of that, the bed was incredibly uncomfortable and was nothing fit to the description given on the site. You get a flat rock hard bed with two flat pillows - so bring your own if you plan on staying here. Size was fine for 2 people and a dog - wouldn't recommend more. The location was not the best, but it was alright. Most people that actually live there were nice. We'll be staying elsewhere next trip."

The Bungalow wasn't anything fancy, but it was exactly what we needed and expected, especially since we basically needed a place to sleep. It has a great location near the beach, pet friendly, and everything we needed for a weekend getaway at the beach."

"Smelled Like Pot/Unexpected visit from property manager
My stay at Mustang Bungalow was mostly fine. The first night we stayed, we smelled weed throughout the facilities, which was somewhat a problem because my wife was pregnant. The third morning the property manager unexpectedly came at 8am on Saturday with the cable guy - there were no notifications of anybody coming and we were not expecting anybody, so it was very weird. I probably wouldn't come back to this property - I would most likely try somewhere else if I was to return to Port Aransas. If asked by a friend where to stay, I would just tell them that its a simple, clean place, and warn them about the weed smell and to be sure to check with the property management company to make sure nothing unexpected is going to happen."

"Beach Bungalo - Weekend Stay
When booking this property, the photos of the outside of the property and discrition did not match the actual property. I would not have selected this property if they had. The apartment style had a very noisy neighbor above us, so we got to listen to lots of foot steps running/walking. The building was also not well separated for ventilation, so we got to smell smokers and other odors. We stay a lot of properties over the course of a year in our travels and this would definitely be at the bottom and would not be considered for rental again or recommended. "

"Not bad for the money.
The condo wasn't bad. The appearance was nice and the kitchen had all the utensils needed. The place was clean, and it has a good central location. Here are the negatives I found. The bed was very hard. The TV had poor reception. I would still go back though. "

The place is OK, nothing special but fulfilled our needs for needing a dog friendly place. It said to load dishwasher before we left but there was no dishwasher. Not sure if some units have them. Further from beach than what I thought but we would just drive there. Had to get an $11 beach parking permit"

We had a great time on our stay in Port A. The location was great, the overall appearance and condition of the condo was just what we expected... it was a perfect fit for us. 2 adults, 2 kids (ages 14 and 9). We will definitely be back!"

"they did the best with what they had
The place is really small. It is nicely decorated and clean. We stayed with our 2 little kids and had enough room. I think with 4 adults it may be a little much. It's definitely not a place to hang out in, but if you just need a spot to crash at the end of the day it's perfect, especially for the price. There wasn't enough bedding for the second bed, so take a blanket and only one teaspoon, so no 2 people eating joghurt at the same time. It smelled a little damp too. We had friends stay at a different location and really only slept at our place. One night we got back too late and didn't get a parking spot anywhere. It would be nice if each unit had one assigned spot, but oh well. It's an affordable place to sleep overall."

"i would stay again
bigger than we thought it would be. about 10 minute walk to the beach. the price was very economical for the value of the condo. the local neighbors are extremely friendly. 2 things, tho - behind the unit is a swimming pool at the place next door and they can stay up pretty late. however, it was july 4th weekend so I guess you have to expect it. also,the futon is not that great to sit on, although I usually blame that on personalback problems. very clean with access to everything you need. getting the keys was super easy."

The place is very clean, cute, has everything you need Plus beach chairs, umbrella and boogy board. Also the place is literally 1 mile from the beach. It's easy to ride a bike there or the little buggies. The pictures do no justice. For the price you pay to stay here, it's a STEAL!!!! I will be rebooking again and again :)"

"Port A-OK!
My girlfriend and I went went down to port a for our anniversary and were extremely pleased with our room. Our room was ready a head of time and we were able to check in a few hours early which was fantastic. The room was great and fit what we were looking for. We stayed three nights in our room. Flatware, silverware, cups, glasses and bowls were all provided I thought this was a very nice touch. The area is very nice, quiet and friendly. The location is great too just a few mins walk to the beach or a quick drive. This is a great room for a couple looking to getaway for a few days and very reasonably priced. Everything was perfect!"

"Sweet little getaway in a convenient location
This little condo was a perfect size for our family of 2 grandparents and 2 children. Spotless upon arrival, well stocked kitchen and laundry supplies. Very friendly owners of other condos in the complex. Family atmosphere at a very affordable price. Location is 5 minutes from the beach, numerous eateries, and a wonderful grocery store. Parking was conveniently within a few steps of the condo. Quiet area, even on Memorial Day Weekend. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay."

"A quiet stay
It was a nice stay. The place was quiet. I recommend providing something to wash dishes with. There was not a dish washer like it stated so we had to buy soap and a sponge to wash the dishes we used. Not a big deal but it made us have to make another trip to the store. Had we known prior we would have brought stuff. Overall nice place for the price and quiet. Made for a relaxing time."

This little condo was perfect for me, my husband, and son. We arrived and you could smell the cleanliness of the apartment from outside the door. Everything was in good working condition. Everyone at the neighboring apartments were very friendly. The location was good just a few blocks from the beach. We had an enjoyable stay and were very impressed with the apartment for the price. Will definitely stay here again!!!"

Our stay was close to perfect, the only thing I would recommend is new beds. The master rooms bed was very hard and I could feel the springs. The futon was ok but still not very comfortable. Everything else was perfect and exactly what I expected. Very clean, cosy, and the caretaker of the facility was friendly and helpful with helping us find our way around. I would recommend this space to any small family who just wants to get away for a while. Thanks Port A Escapes!"

A friend told us just before our vacation that they have seen cockroaches while staying at the mustang. First day we found a huge dead cockroach, that's all. No more dead or alive ones. The unit was clean and comfortable enough for us. And yes, we would recommend it :)"
