I'm not sure if they are under new management but the small details added up big this time. The good: the pool, movie theater, and firepit were absolutely amazing. Probably the biggest indoor pool we've ever had so definitely a highlight of our trip. The bad: We booked this cabin for the pool and arcade. Got a text as soon as we arrived saying the arcade was out of commission and wasn't going to be fixed. The late notice was not okay and their empty apology fell on deaf ears. The 2nd floor, during the day, was a minimum of 80 degrees so extremely uncomfortable and unusable. The A/C worked just not very well. Multiple bathrooms had half rolls of toilet paper instead of a full roll (seriously?). We had a maintenance guy come by at night asking to use our wifi, which was super strange. Lastly, water pressure for showers was non-existent for the remaining days of our trip after 2 showers on the 1st day. Overall, the cabin was good but not great for the reasons stated above. Everything from extremly poor cleanliness to roaches crawling in the silverware drawer and the walls no dish soap provided to wash any dishes by hand. So disgusting, the pool table had multiple big Rips in the felt to where we could not use the pool table, jetts not working in two out of the three tubs, lights by the beds not working, the pool was cloudy and the hot tub had debris in it we had to clean out before use, There was broken glass and nails all in the driveway where we parked, my step dad speant over an hour pickibg up glass and nails because my daughter was outside with us and didn't want her getting hurt. I Called and spoke to representative Jennifer about all my issues with the cabin she offered no reasonable solution and no other cabin to move into. I was told one tbibgbover the phone while booking the cabin that everything was in good working order I was assured then getting there and being told by Jennifer all amendies are as is and nothing is guarenteed. I was told to "read the fine print of my rental agreement" but yet I received the rental agreement after I booked the cabin. The PROS - Located only 25 mins from Gatlinburg, 1.5 hours to Cades Cove and Catalooche Valley, NC. The 3 bedrooms are all very spacious, with comfortable beds and their own full bathrooms. The dining table easily accommodated all 5 adults and 3 children. The indoor pool water temp and depth (4ft) were perfect for all ages. The hot tub was accessible from the pool room’s balcony door, and though smaller, was enjoyed by all at different times. Though there are other cabins around, the trees provide this cabin with wonderful seclusion as you cannot see but bits of the cabins beside you. The theater room was a big hit for the children, they spent a lot of the evenings winding down by watching their movies up there. The CONS - The pool table needs serious attention. New felt and repair to the pockets are two musts. As you ascend the stairs to the second floor, the old, red carpet gives off a musty smell, similar to cat urine. A quick 7 minute drive to Dollar General for some Fabreeze was the temporary fix for that, would recommend replacing the carpet. The outside was in dire need of a power wash. There were several spiders and spider webs on every balcony and the first floor, outside windows were covered in them. A quick spray off prior to guests arriving would be highly recommended. There is not much of a “view” from any side of this cabin, the back of it has a small wooded slope and a glimpse of the road that leads up to the cabins with several pieces of loose trash that has blown into the wooded area. We did our best to pick up the loose trash we saw, but a little more outside touch would be good. The dryer needed to be restarted three times per one single load washed to completely dry the items. OVERALL - A nice cabin to stay in, with a little TLC and outside attention this cabin could be a slice of heaven on earth. The grill was extremely dirty. We have pictures of how dirty it was. The fridge wasn’t cooling at all. They had someone come out and they did fix the fridge and gave us a new blender. This cabin has potential to be great but sadly it is not being taken care of and families like mine are being taken for their hard earned vacation money! Nothing was clean in the entire cabin including the hot tub and pool. A lamp was broken and left. 12 light bulbs were burned out when we arrived. The overwhelming stench of dog urine took over the upper level. The only remedy offered was deodorizer and the explanation that someone with large dogs was there before us and the carpet had not been shampooed since their stay!So much for a cabin labeled not pet friendly. Cobwebs covered the inside and outside of the cabin. Windows were so dirty you could barely see outside. Trash was thrown over the balcony and left, including some that is hanging in the trees.Floor tiles were loose and broken in some places. Belongings from previous guests were left behind. A bra and a razor among those things. Sofa bed was broken and large blood stains were on sofa mattress. Dryer did not work well. Some lights were faulty and flickered on and off when used. Balcony floors are weak and not safe. Main floor balcony has a hole in the floor. Pool was not warm and sprayers didnt work. Upper level never was cool despite the thermostats set to lowest setting of 70. No lighting in kitchen. Very dark.All dishes had to be rewashed.Contacted customer service three times during stay. We stayed at Cherokee Pool Lodge for a family vacation including grandparents as well as several children. There was plenty of space for everyone and lot of fun for the kids including the indoor pool, large movie theater, pool table, darts, and arcade. Overall, the cabin was relatively clean inside. Dishes/linens were all clean and smelled fresh! However, the upstairs foyer where the set of twin bunks is was very musty smelling. Additionally, a nice surprise was in the loft area, there was a twin over full bunk. The problem here was that it was way too hot for anyone to actually stay up there. If there was a way to control the temperature better, that would have been a great place for the kids to hang out or sleep. The indoor pool and hot tub on the lower level deck was great. We could not get the sprinklers around the pool to work, and a light went in and out a bit. But all the adults really appreciated the lock and alarm on the pool door! Lots of peace of mind with the kids. Be sure to remember to lock it with the passcode when you leave the pool though because it does not automatically lock. Lighting could have been improved inside, and a little more thorough cleaning inside and outside (a lot of spiderwebs, not unexpected, though). There was an issue with the faucet leaking, and this was resolved within 24 hrs. The biggest complaint being the musty smell upstairs and the temperature of the loft do not outweigh the good points of this cabin. The location is secluded, and further from points of interest, but this was known when we booked. We were mostly pleased with the vacation rental and would consider renting again through Elk Springs if we visit the area again." The pool was very nice and secure with an alarm upon entering pool area. Very safe with children. Kids loved the pool. It was a lot bigger than I thought it would be. The couch in the theater room turned into a pool out bed where we would have movie night every night. There was a dollar general near the cabin where you can rent DVD’s. The location was quiet and remote, which we enjoyed. The pool, hot tub and theater room were excellent. The main issue we had was with the water supply inside the house. Maintenance was called 3 times during our 5 day stay due to the intermittent issue of zero water supply and this was never fully resolved. The staff continued to blame the issue on well water, but all of the guests staying there had previously lived in houses with well water and not had these type of issues. So if you like to shower, bathe and wash your hands on your own schedule, I would not recommend you stay here. At times the water wouldn’t even run in the middle of the night, when there was no prior usage. It seems like there may be a Bigger problem with the well pump or supply lines to the cabin. The Elk springs staff declined to provide any reimbursement for our inconvenience. When a family spends this much for luxury lodging running water should not be an issue! Cabin was clean, pool area downstairs was great and larger than I anticipated. Bedrooms nice and the beds were COMFY. My wife and I booked this specific cabin over other options because it had an indoor hottub on the top floor with a TV. Photos showcased this at the time of booking (2021) and our stay was during the SuperBowl (Feb.2022). We were really excited to have a unique indoor hot tub experience. When we arrived, the top room was empty and the hot tub had been moved downstairs and outside like all of the other cabins showcased. It might be a minor issue in the grand scheme of things, but the photos showed an indoor hot tub and that was SPECIFICALLY why I chose this cabin. I wish management had messaged me about that significant change. I likely would have changed my booking to a different cabin in their lineup. Might have even upgraded to something better. I was so bummed out about that when I arrived. The second issue was the theater room. Since I couldn't watch the Superbowl in a fancy indoor hottub, I tried to shrug it off because I could just stream the game in a really awesome theater room! This room WAS awesome. Chairs/couch were great, felt like a legit theater. Unfortunately, the projector was ceiling mounted out of reach for viewing adjustment and the projector was nowhere even close to being centered on the projector screen. As in - two feet off to the right of the screen and so crooked it was almost unwatchable. I was able to use the keystone setting on the remote to try and correct it, but it still looked terrible and trapezoid shaped. I completely understand why it is ceiling mounted (out of reach of children, settings/hardware can't be messed with, etc...) but the projection can't be so goofed up that I'm cursing in frustration. Eventually gave up and barely used it. Your customers want attention to detail when spending this amount of money on cabins with these amenities. When we first arrived everything looked amazing. Then after we got inside and started to get settled in we notice left over bacon on the table. Plus leftover cake all over the table bench which ended up getting red frosting all over my shirt. There was leftover popcorn and sucker stick in the theater room. The sheets on the beds had hair on them. After 2days there was a problem in the pool room the was making a loud noise through the whole building. I called for maintenance and they showed up 2 hrs after the estimated time. So we dealt with the loud noise for about 6hrs of our what was supposed to be a relaxing day. Then after it got fixed the water pressure went down in the cabin. We woke up the next day and went to town for breakfast and when we got back to go swimming the pool was flooded from the maintenance guy. Had to call maintenance again to fix it and then we had to have a loud fan put in our cabin to dry out the carpet and listened to that noise for 2 full days. I was very disappointed in the cleaning and up keep of the cabin. My family and I will never be back and I will never recommend to anyone. For the price we paid we shouldn’t had have to deal with the poor cleaning service or poor maintenance." But then I was charged $500 for a couch that was already broken when we arrived. So my list begins. The entire kitchen floor was duct taped together and appeared to have been taped for some time now (not just one tile but every tile), there was gross brown stuff on the ice in the freezer, the grill was disgusting and smeared with thick brown grease, toilet seats were barely attached, there is a HUGE structural crack in the ceiling right above the pool (that’s not concerning at all), the pool seemed clean enough but the area around it was not, the lights in the hot tub didn’t work and the little filter was also duct taped (maintenance really loves their duct tape), there were visible set mouse traps! I’m sure there is more but that’s all I can think of for now. When you spend $2000 for a weekend stay somewhere you have higher expectations. Later, I received another text that stated we would not be able to check in the 26th and could receive a full credit for the stay if we chose to do so. I immediately tried to call Elk Spring Resorts. No one answered. I tried again No one answered. I left a message. No one returned my call. I ended up emailing them and it was a few hours later before I received a response. The following morning I received another text asking me what time we would like to check in. The earliest was 3:00 so that's what I chose. Around 4:30, I still had not heard anything from Elk Springs. I called. No answer. I left a message. No response. I sent an email and explained that we had no where to go and that I had tried to call them and no one answered. We finally received our door code around 4:45. Within 20 mins of receiving the door code, I received another message that stated that the floor of the cabin had been damaged and it would not be repaired before our stay. The text also stated that it was razor sharp and basically to be careful because it could cut you. After we arrived at the cabin, it was VERY apparent that the floor had been damaged for quite some time as there was old duct tape all over the kitchen flooring. The cabin was not thoroughly cleaned either. It was quite apparent that the floors had not been cleaned. For the price of renting this cabin, it should have been spotless! The private indoor pool was quite large and a perfect depth for children (4 feet). The video game machine had many old school game options (such as Donkey Kong, Frogger, and Pac Man). The kitchen table was huge and could easily seat a large family. The cabin was clean. The jacuzzi tubs were a wonderful addition to each bedroom. The hot tub was also clean and nice for a soak (great view from this room). TV’s were everwhere. We were able to keep cool from the summer heat with the AC. We used the grill every day we were there. The bedrooms were large. The pool table was fun and in good condition. It was only about a twenty minute drive to downtown Gatlinburg and a 15 minute drive to the Walmart in Newport (groceries). Kitchen was stocked with all equipment we needed. Plenty of towels were provided. I appreciated the dish washer and washer/dryer (no vacation laundry when we got home). They called and checked on our satisfaction multiple times. We were warned of bears in the area, but we never saw any. We did not use the outdoor fire pit, but it was nice and located about ten yards from the cabin. It was definitely everything I thought it was going to be on the surface. However, this place is expensive and so I expected certain things I suppose. However let me just list what all was wrong. The air conditioning went out. Yes on the second floor it was 90° in the house because the air went out and it was out from 11pm to till 3pm the next day. They did send someone out. Maintenance was very pleasant. However it did take a while to cool back off again. The TV above the hot tub did not work. The dartboard not only did not have batteries in it however all except for two of the darts were broken. The lamps were broken at the bedsides.. You could tell there are areas where there was dirt and cobwebs. The baseboards were dirty. Also unfortunately the movie theater receiver went out and we couldn’t use it for one if he days we were there. The projection is absolutely abysmal. It is in no way impressive. I would’ve rather of just had a large television. Once it was fixed which did take a large majority of the day it was too hot because the air was broken. I suppose the worst part is that when I called management I wasn’t really offered anything until I left and then I was given a 10% discount. To be classified as a “luxury cabin“ there were very cheaply made and poorly maintained items. The owner clearly does not invest much money to maintain the property. I’m not sure if the other cabins operated by this company are as poorly maintained. I just want to warn others. Save your hard earned money. I have learned that it is not only an issue with Elk Springs but also the owners of the cabin and lack of keeping the cabin up to date. Simple things were needed such as a new toaster (one that was there didn't work), grill desperately needed clean, there were large hard areas in the carpet, holes in the carpet. Then, the exhaust fan in the pool was not working thus leaving a large hole for cold air to poor in. We were unable to swim in the pool the first few nights due to this. Thankfully, towards the end of the trip the air outside started to warm and we were able to swim some. Next, the hot tub, apparently was not dosed with chemicals prior to our arrival leaving me to wonder if it was even cleaned between use. Two days after arrival (and after use) we discovered the hot tub to have a slime film along the edges. We discovered the chemical holder to be completely empty and covered in this same slime coating. Elk springs didn't bat an eye at this. My daughter ended up with a UTI a few days later... coincidence? The Jets in one of the tubs didn't work and maintenance "fixed" this but didn't check before they left if it actually worked and when we went to use it we found it was still not in working order. The cabin itself was dirty. Dust piles on the windows, dirty dishwasher, splash stains on the walls of the theater room, ect. The property itself was covered in debris from plastic bags to red Solo cups to cigar read wrappers. Very disappointing and will be bringing our business elsewhere. Elk Springs resorts was very responsive and made the repairs they could but it seems a shame that this many things needed to go wrong in a one week period. Seems like routine maintenance is not kept up with. The pool heater was the result of a lengthy hot water tank leak that traveled across the utility room and caused the wires in the pool heater to be affected. I hope the owners look into a routine maintenance plan and check up for their property so it can be enjoyed in the future. On a further note 5 of the 7 swimmers in the pool during our stay came home with double ear infections. May need a better water cleaning plan and chemicals. The only thing you will need to bring is you, your clothes, and food. If you forget anything, there is a Walmart not far from the property. The customer service was top notch. We had to call for an extra tank of propane for the grill and the request was met within the time-frame provided. There was also an issue with the projector in the theater room, the picture went black in the middle of watching a movie, which was a quick fix. There was a small black bear that visited us! The first morning he sniffed around the yard, went to the cabin across the street and jumped into a truck (parked with the windows down) - found a McDonald's bag & jumped out with the bag.The following morning, he came back, attempted to get into the trash cage. After not being successful, he came to the front door, looking into the cabin at us taking pics of him. He was not in a hurry and wasn't aggressive-I'm sure when winter is approaching he won't be so nice. When we were leaving we had to leave a couple of bags of trash in the cabin because the 2 small cans provided inside the cage were full and we didn't want to give the bear reason to come back. The coffee pot lid was broken , the toaster was broken the bottom falls off so you couldn't move it, your garbage can didn't even have a lid. The outside of the stove needed a rag taken too it. Your theater room which is a huge sell for you also should say in your listing only works with DVD nothing else, and half of the wires were unhooked. We have always enjoyed our previous stays at the main resort in Gatlinburg. We decided to try a cabin with a indoor heated pool along with the usual home theater room during our last stay from 9/18/15 through 9/21/15. The Cherokee Pool Lodge was located in Cosby, TN. The cabin was beautiful and just what we had come to expect from Elk Springs Resort. Our only problems were the maintenance issues we experienced with both the theater system and the pool. The theater system was not working and the heated pool was cold. Management was notified but failed to resolved problems with the theater system and the pool was not heating until our last night of a three nights stay. Mind you that the theater system and the pool were our main reason for selecting this cabin. I contacted Elk Springs management concerning my dissatisfaction and have yet to hear from Elk Springs concerning this issue. My son had a blast swimming in the pool and I was very surprised to see how big the pool actually was. We actually got to check in early as well which was great! It was fully stocked as promised and we didn't need a thing during our stay. We did have to call and make sure we were at the right place and the lady was super nice and friendly. She let us know if we needed any help with directions or info she would be more than happy to help as well. I will definitely be booking again in this cabin!
