Both bunk rooms (12 people) have to share bathrooms with other 6 by entering their bedrooms or thru kitchen. There isn’t enough storage in the bathrooms or bedrooms to set out toiletries or set linens anywhere but on toilet seats. Suggest these amenities and vanities be updated." When Elk Springs called to tell me this they said they had another cabin that was comparable to the cabin we initially rented. Comparable means similar or as good as. It was not. Our original cabin had 6 rooms and 6 bathrooms. This cabin only had 5 bedrooms and 3 & a half baths. Two of the bathrooms were in rooms on the second level. While the 3rd was on the main level with entrances from one bedroom and the other from the kitchen. That was difficult to deal with when you have 14 people. The washer and dryer was all in that main level bathroom. The half bath was down where the pool was. One of the rooms was all the way at the top and really was suppose to be just a loft area where you can look out into the woods. They put a bunkbed up there. None of the beds were comfortable. On top of that, on our 6 hour ride to the cabin I received a text saying that check-in time had to be pushed back from 3 to 5 which was okay because we had a little time left before we got there. But when we arrived at 5 the cleaning crew was still there and we had to wait an additional 45 minutes for them to finish. The cabin was also further from a lot of places we had planned to visit when we were planning to stay at the other cabin. We weren’t given any extra accommodations for the disruption in our trip. We only got some money back because the second cabin was cheaper than the original. We were only given two options: cancel our trip and get a full refund or go with the other cabin. We had to deal with the other cabin because it was less than 12 hours until we were planning to get on the road. There was no effort to try to properly accommodate us. The cleaning staff left trash in the bathroom downstairs from a prior guest and also the dirty sponges they used to clean. I didn’t call about that because those were minor. The hot tub was nice the pool was freezing although the thermostat said 80 that water was nowhere near lukewarm. It was my birthday I was just trying to enjoy myself didn’t complain about anything but the bed bugs and jacuzzi/pool. The cabin can sleep quite a few people but there is only one table so playing games wasn’t easy to do." The check in process was not a smooth as they made it sound , took forever to get a code sent to us to even get in and also to have access to the pool , very bad communication with the owner/manager . The property was not properly cleaned as food/ food residue was left all in the microwave and refrigerator. The sheets were not clean and the carpet was disgusting. I highly recommend installing some hard wood floors, more sanitary. The cabin is very outdated needs a lot of renovations starting with the light fixtures that are dated back to 1908. I honestly would not recommend this cabin to anyone. As far as activities for the kids and family we were very accessible to Gatlinburg area, lots to explore in that town. Another thing please communicate with your guests when random persons show up asking to clean your pool the day before your about to leave, very sketchy. FYI. Upon arrival the grounds were dirty. All bed linen was dirty and had to be returned for cleaning. The toaster didn’t work properly. The cabin itself was not clean. The previous renters were smokers and it appeared that’s what the second and top floor were used for. The furniture needs secured as well as it is dangerous if their are small children in your party. The downstairs bedroom had jagged edges on the broken bed post which could have hurt my grandchildren. The jacuzzis needed serviced a few times why were there. The theater was not great either. The screen had to be readjusted and plan on no surround sound, not the experience for a theater room. The cabin is severely outdated and the air hockey table should absolutely be removed and not used in this house as it is unfixable. The positive in this was that I was in constant contact with the office and they tried so hard to make it right. Would I stay here again maybe but doubtful and I definitely would never choose this particular cabin. (Indoor pool beauty) for the amount of problems we had it was severely overpriced. Again the office worked with me to make things right. Therefore the stay was unenjoyable but I am thankful to the office staff for trying to correct the issues at hand. I never got to speak to anyone. The 3rd day we were to check in I had reservations for a show, a family of 13 and we wanted to check in early. I was willing to pay and knew no one else had been in our cabin because there was no electricity on previous days. All my text kept saying was we had to wait till 3:00 pm. To check in. That didn’t make sense to me. I pleaded over text because they wouldn’t call me back. At 3:00 we were sitting outside our cabin. No one would give us our code to get in. Long story one from Elk was communicating with housekeeping! Our cabin wasn’t cleaned and when we got into cabin there was no heat. It was obvious the cabin never was cleaned after the last renters checked out. We paid over $6,000 for 4 nights...you’d think the customer service would have been much better than this! I still have never talked to anyone. My adult daughter got through but she couldn’t really do much. What a disappointment for Elk Springs. I was reimbursed for the two nights but I can think of many ways Elk Springs could have gone the extra mile- seems their communication with housekeeping and clients needs much improvement. This is our 4th year renting from Elk Springs. Guess it’s time to move on to another company. Wonder if the owners of the cabins knew this happened or would like this kind of experience. The rental is advertised as a non-smoking cabin, but the entire place wreaked of cigarette smoke, especially one of the Kings rooms on the second floor. The red carpet is disgusting. There was dried feces or vomit on the wall and floor in the pool bathroom, garbage on the ground surrounding cabin outside. Theater room was not working upon arrival. First maintenance man who came was nice, but wasn't wearing a mask. A second one came back the next day to fix it, he also was nice, but no mask. Pool had cigarette buds floating in it, which was odd because we weren't allowed to use the pool for three hours after checking in because they had just cleaned it; you missed the floating cigarette buds. Other small things: windows are filthy and have a film of dirt on the outside of them, all the decks need to be sprayed down, TV in one of the bedrooms didn't work. We had a group of 13 people 5 of which were kids. We chose Indoor Pool Beauty for the pool and theater room. When we got there everything seemed pretty good at first glance but we were wrong. The pool was filthy and green and full of hair. The washer and dryer were both broke. The fridge leaked. The tv was broke and hanging towards the floor. 2 of the 3 couches are unusable. The kids feet were black from the floors. The jacuzzi tub shot out hair and dirt when turned on. In a bathroom meant for 10 people there was one towel rack. When called they were not helpful. They reimbursed us only for the washer and dryer. We were unable to speak with a supervisor because they were “never in”. Do NOT waste your money! They need to clean and maintain their cabins. I've seen several reviews that also say the same thing about this Cabin. The property manager is called and we're told it should say and be 79 degrees. Which again it isn't. I believ the heater is broke and may need to be replaced or the thermostat may be. The cabin is absolutely beautiful , just very poorly kept and maintained. I am very disappointed in the upkeep of the property and the price their charging for the cabin. The fees charged for clean up , when the pool room was clearly was very nasty and had lots of dirt build up in the windows on the inside of the pool room. Also popcorn and candy wrappers all in the Theater Room. You couldn't connect the Projector to WiFi so you can only go and rent DVDs or bring some , which isn't listed in the description. Also there is no Dart board in the game room like listed in the description. Very little seating room outside of the cabin. Absolutely no plastic cups or kid safe dishes. When you have a cabin supposed to be sleeping 18 people , it should be furnished with things like this. The furniture was very worn down and had a huge hole in the back of one of the sofas in the living room. All of the T.v's were messed up and saying no signal, luckily my husband knows how to fix stuff like this and was able to help. The living room T.V would shut on and off.We spent the weekend at just the Cabin and I love coming to the mountains for the weekend. I just would expect it to be way better kept for the amount they charge for this particular property. I am not one to give a bad review and feel horrible for doing so. The cabin was Beautiful we had some issues when we settled in..the cabin was not clean as it should have been the bed linen was not bleached white it looked slept on..the comforter was not clean dirty dingy no fresh smell...all of the pillows had no pillow protection on them so you could see saliva stains and yellow stains on the pillows and most of the pillows didn't have pillow cases it was no pillowcases to be found..the cabin Sleeps18people but it wasn't enough linen to support 18 people..the washing machine was broken we couldn't wash the few towels that we had..I was told if I ask for more it would be a charge. So we had to wash them by hand and but then in the wasn't enough lights in the kitchen...the windows was dirty i called twice about the pool being COLD!! it never got hot or warm it was ice the adults couldn't get in...the cable was out the first night...and The Bears was everywhere..they need to tell people about the Bears...when we got there after the long drive i got in the hot tube at night..not knowing the Bears was able to get in the hot tube..I could have lost my life or one of my family members because we didn't know the bears was all around us until that next morning..I was so shocked that I was in harms way.not one of the bathrooms were handicapped pull up bars in the tubes or toilet areas..I have a bad back..I had to call my husband to use his arm to pull up on...Don't get me wrong the cabin was Beautiful just not clean enough and a lot of broken things..But I was unhappy that I was not able to swim I love water and that is why we wanted a cabin with a indoor that it would we warm and comfortable because we're up in age and we can't get in cold pools anymore...its not like we was at a hotel and I could change my room so we had to deal with it.We were in INDOOR BEAUTY POOL CABIN at 216 AMET WAY... We were on our way to the cabin that we reserved when we were informed that we couldn’t stay there due to a problem with the pool. We were given an upgrade across the street. We had to call because the surround sound in the theater room did not work, there was a lightbulb out on the stairway going down to the pool, we had no rockers on the porch, and the air hockey puck was missing. We were disappointed not to have a pool table like we were getting in the first cabin. However, with all of that being said, when we called, they sent someone out quickly to fix things. Also, we left jewelry and received a text describing the jewelry and asking if it was ours and did we want them to ship it to us for the cost of a dollar. Everyone we spoke to was very friendly. Master bedroom on main floor shared a bathroom with the rest of the main floor. This was inconvenient for for large families. Bathrooms in general were too small. Kitchen needs more pots and pans. lighting was dim in Kitchen. No chairs provided on decks. Broken glass bottles and trash around fire pit area. No end tables in living room to place drinks on. Furniture was worn and you sunk down in it. Pictures on website are not accurate. Shows queen beds next to one another. They were bunks. Not good for elderly people or older couples to use. Theater seats were not what was pictured. Cabin was in good location. Not bad but could use some attention and add some chairs to the decks. The bath tub knob was broken. A toilet was broken. & NOT TO MENTION the "maintenance" guy entered the property without our permission while we were there & didn't hear him knock. We were celebrating my sisters engagement and a kid-free weekend for us 10 ladies. It was a blast: we only had two issues- 1. The cabins are very very close together. When sitting out in the hot tub the neighbors yelled out their windows telling us to quiet down several times. We understand people were trying to sleep but it was a vacation and only 11pm- we weren’t being crazy just talking (over the sound of the jets) trying to relax and have a good time. Also, Some of the pictures are outdated- the hot tub is actually outside not inside and the bedrooms aren’t exactly laid out like the pictures so we had to reassign rooms ones we got there since no one wanted to commit to walking 3 flights of stairs to get to their bedroom. The pool was really nice however the alarm system was very obnoxious but once we figured it out it wasn’t bad. The house was clean and equipped with everything we needed except toilet paper on the first floor, once we arrived and checkout was easy. We stayed here two nights with our entire family for my husbands 40th birthday, almost everyone in every room was not happy. Uncomfortable mattresses in the bunk room (that was labeled wrong in the listing), leaking faucet in the downstairs king, no cable tv in the other king bedrooms, no door on the top bedroom (also incorrect pictures and description). The pool was freezing cold, not enjoyable at all, the kitchen was extremely dirty, floor shifting and sticky, countertop peeling. Tv in the living room was very small, no blu Ray player in the theatre room, also not a 9foot screen as described in the listing. Perhaps the worst thing is that the insulation is non existent, you could whisper something the floor below and hear it plain as day upstairs, no privacy whatsoever. Not enough trash bags provided, several light bulbs needed to be replaced, pool security was minimal, window in the kitchen broke, baseboards missing and some moldy, I could go on and on." In one of the upstairs bathrooms someone had left traces of feces behind. Also strands of hair was in the bedding. Besides that the most important feature the indoor heated pool, which persuaded us to choose this cabin was out of service do to unforeseen circumstances. In the end we were reimbursed for the inconvenience. Overall my family made the most of our stay and had a great Christmas vacation. Would I choose to stay at this location again? Probably not.
