I got a message about an hour before saying it wouldn't be ready til 5pm. Also, it's not in Pigeon Forge, it's closer to Cosby. Wasn't told this til it was booked. The cabin itself was beautiful and everything we wanted, I had 8 young adults with me. Be perfect for ones who want away from everything and doesn't mind driving. From the start, communication was a major issue. We received very little information ahead of our stay and showed up for the reservation that was supposed to begin at 3pm and wasn’t made aware that our cabin wasn’t ready and wouldn’t be ready until 4:30 according to cleaners that weren’t on the property, but I was told that they were. When we reached out with questions, responses were slow or nonexistent. It felt like we were left in the dark right up until check-in which again I had to call to see why at 8:30 I still hadn’t received a code to check in and then 5 minutes later the code was received leaving me not to be able to check in until 9pm, 5.5 hours later than my arrival. Speaking of check-in — it was delayed with no clear explanation or heads-up. After a long drive, waiting around without any updates was incredibly frustrating. Having to cancel all of my plans and spend additional funding due to their lack of scheduling a cleaning in a timely manner. Customer service overall was disappointing. There was a clear lack of professionalism and care, which really put a damper on what was supposed to be an amazing getaway. The cabin itself was decent, but the experience leading up to it left a sour taste. With so many options in the area, I’d suggest looking elsewhere unless Elk Springs seriously improves their customer service and communication. Customer service offered to have someone come to spray but I opted out of that since we would then (all 20 of us) have to find an activity for at least 8 hours of our time and we had a infant in our group that has respiratory issues. There was a leak in the half bathroom downstairs and the air conditioner froze up upstairs as well. BUT we did all get to be together for that time and ultimately we all took precautions to ensure we didn’t take any unwanted souvenirs home with us and we were thankful for the much needed time together. Pool was awesome and hot tub as well!! Low scores for the bugs, unrealistic solution to the bug issue (offer to move your guests-my opinion), and the outside of the house needs attention. The kids and parents loved having 24 hour access to the pool, hot tub and game room and the adults loved having a living room to where they could visit and relax. This property has the perfect location; it is close enough to Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park you can easily get to and do anything you’d like, but it is completely removed from the bustle and noise. That being said, it has a lot of problems. The doors and windows don’t seal, so cold air is constantly flowing in. The water pressure is seriously hit and miss; sometimes it is strong enough to rinse out your hair, most times it is not. The mattress in the bedroom beside the kitchen is in desperate need of replacement. The foot of the mattress is higher than the head of the mattress, and it is hollowed out so badly that you have to fight to keep from ending up in a heap in the center. When that happens, it is awful to get out of it. Comical, but awful. The cabin is advertised to sleep 16, which it does, but there were exactly 16 bath towels in the entire cabin. We were washing towels continuously. The advertisement makes it seem like there is a separate theater room and a game room. There are not. Upstairs, there is one large bedroom which has a queen bed and a set of full bunk beds, and the rest of the floor is an open loft room. The loft has a set of full bunk beds, two arcade games, a ping pong table, a pool table, and the theater “room” all together. The loft is open to the downstairs, with a rustic porch railing around its edge, so if any ball gets away from the ping pong or pool game being played, the ball is falling onto the lower floor. It was dangerous to sit at the front third of the dining table while anyone was at the pool table. We had two near misses with a pool ball and a family member’s head. It was terrifying. That open railing needs to be closed in before a guest is injured. We also called about condition of grill and someone came out that night to clean it (the brush was in extremely bad condition and the grates are broke) it really needs to be replaced. For the most part the condition and cleanliness was good. Upstairs there were dirty socks in one bed (we were not using). We called for sheets to be changed in one room and they were dropped off. The location of cabin was a nice quiet road. It is however 40 minutes to Pigeon Forge and 30 min from Gatlinburg. The activity everyone picked as their favorite was the family float at Rip Roaring Adventures, was a nice introduction into white water rafting. All in all it was a great vacation. We planned on checking in to our cabin at 3pm. However, at 12:30pm on the day of check-in, I received a text that we would not be able to check-in until 7pm. I understand that things change and the need to be flexible. However, since we were driving 9.5 hours from Michigan and our group had 8 kids, 8 and under, earlier communication regarding a late check-in would have been much appreciated and we could have planned more accordingly. Within a half hour of us checking into our cabin, I received a text that the dryer didn't work and could not be fixed during our stay. When I called Elk Springs to ask about the situation, they stated that parts to fix the dryer had been ordered, but were not in yet. Seems reasonable and I understand these things come up. However, I don't understand why they didn't let us know sooner. Clearly Elk Springs knew the dryer didn't work prior to our check-in. And I didn't pack enough clothes for my family for the entire week, as I planned on doing laundry during our stay. Once we got past those few hiccups, it was a great stay! The rest of the communication with Elk Springs was great - they were helpful and responsive. Lastly, the cabin seemed a little dirty. The first night we got there, the bottom of everyone's feet were covered in dirt just from walking around in the cabin. Overall, I would recommend the Live, Laugh, Love cabin." They were stained and dirty. Dishes were not cleaned - we had to wash before use. The pool was was so cloudy. Maintenance came out to “fix” the chemical imbalances and it remained cloudy and colder than usual. We paid a pretty penny for inconvenience. Our check in was 2pm so we planned our travel around the given checkin time. During our travel we received an email stating it was moved to 5pm. So upon arrival at 2pm we were not allowed to enter. We had 10 family cars traveling from St. Louis, Iowa and Alabama. Our second cabin rented the bed linen was DISGUSTING. Stained with blood and body fluids. They were not cleaned AT ALL And let’s add the property manager offered NOTHING for all of the inconvenience The ONLY way I would recommend this property is if the furniture was replaced. The kids also enjoyed the pool very much. Some aspects about the home to consider however: There are 3 bathrooms which are all in bedrooms. So there are no free-standing bathrooms. There's one bedroom downstairs with no bathroom. So if you are sleeping in that room, you'd need to go into someone else's room to use the bathroom...not too convenient in the middle of the night! The temperature in the upstairs master bedroom was SIGNIFICANTLY lower then the rest of the upstairs. There was a noticeable draft coming through the window which was right behind the headboard and in 10 degree weather, every degree counts! Some instructions on how to work the theater screen/sound system would have been nice too. Remember to log out of Netflix before you leave! The theater room is not in a separate room, it's part of the upstairs loft..just FYI. This property is NOT located in Gatlinburg nor is it on the Elks SPring resort, it is about a good 30 min drive to Gatlinburg. The views in the height elevation of the cabin was very low not like the pictures if you're going there thinking you're on top of a mountain you're not. You're paying top of the Mountain prices for low elevation lodging. After all that my overall experience was pretty good and to be honest would probably stay in this cabin again if the prices were a little bit lower About 15% cheaper would be good." The deck looks directly out into trees and the front looks across to the other cabins. I didn't want to rent from Aunt Bee's cabins because they had terrible reviews, but there was Aunt Bee cabins right next door! The cabin inside is nice but the rooms are weird. THey should make 2 rooms out of the master and not have the bunkbeds IN game room area. Hot tub and pool were nice. The atmosphere didn't seem like the smokey mountains. You're 1 mile from the entrance to the National Park (about 3 miles to where the trails start) - the trails were nice. To our disappointment the pool water temperature was 116* which luckily no one jumped straight in! The actual pool room temp felt like 130*. Our family vacation got off to a very bad start. I received an email 5 minutes before check in time tell me the house wasn't ready and it would be another hour do we made the best of it and had an early dinner. The house was to be ready at 3pm, now it's 4pm and we arrived at the house only to time the non English house keeping staff attempting to tell us another hour. I call all the numbers on my contract only to find I had to leave a message. I tried texting the number oly to be told via text 15 more minutes several times. In the time being, we have a bear come up on us, forcing all 10 of us in the 3 cars we were in. I had 5 children ages 2 to 12 now scared and very much needing a toilet. I was able to reach a sales person who seemed to be in another state and told him this was unacceptable and he best have a real person call me asap. Needless to say,our 3pm check in turned in to a 5:30 pm check in. I insisted management call me but they didn't and I called again Monday and she was out but she call Tuesday and by then we had mushrooms growing around the inside of the pool door and not little ones. We also gad the ac go out which they responded to in a reasonable time only to be scared off by the bear and called another ac company. You should see what was blocking the vents in the bedroom,needless to say another call to the office.I have photos to back this all up.The house was beautiful,larger than the photos made it look,parking was tight and I specifically asked about that.Management offered us a late check out and I accepted but this really wasn't a great experience and it couldn't went better. The location was too far away from park entrances with visitor centers and activities in Pigeon Forge. The cleanliness of the cabin did not meet our expectations either. The blinds on windows were dirty, floors were dirty in corners, and dust on many pieces of decoration/furniture. The cabin has a lot of space, but should not be labeled as a luxury cabin."
