Lake Bruin is a premier fishing lake. It is 13 miles long and is extremely deep. Jet skiing, water skiing, wakeboarding and even a few sail boats are common on Lake Bruin. Most people with camps have a pontoon boat and later in the afternoons you can see them begin to travel up and down the lake loaded with people laughing and having a good time! The 4th of July is especially fun at Lake Bruin. A local bank sponsors a huge fireworks display and everyone gathers in the center of the lake to watch from their boats. Bass tournaments are held on Lake Bruin almost every weekend during spring and summer months.
There are covenants on most properties on the lake. Boat docks/piers are at almost every camp. Some even have screened areas and even a few little camp houses on the ends of the piers. MOnroe, La. is approx. 1hr. 20 minutes from Lake Bruin. Natchez is an hour away and Vicksburg is an hour away. There is a small airstrip located at Lake Bruin which allows small planes to land. There is a Country Club with tennis courts and a 9 hole golf course. Although Lake Bruin is a separate community, the main town is St. Joseph, La. which does have a grocery store. There are several restaurants in the area for those who want a night out of the kitchen.
