Visitor Reviews (67) Write a Review! "More Like Pool Ha Ha If you are familiar with the idea of being "catfished," then you will understand this rental. CatFish 1: Upon entering, you are very pleased with the initial appearance and atmosphere. Until, you return from a nice day out to sit on second hand worn out furniture, and not atmosphere lighting. It is full out ceiling lights or nothing. CatFish 2: The master bedroom is striking, and then you lay down on the spacious bed only to discover a memory foam mattress is akin to laying on day old play doh. CatFish 3: Ah yes, the pool... those pictures, who knows when they were taken because that is NOT what we received. The lights, the waterfall feature- nope not working. The crystal waters, nope cloudy. And, maybe in colder weather, a nice play to be; but the heater was running in the room when it was already 90 out. We couldn't even use it, after a long day of hiking-traveling no cool dip. CatFish 4: Mountain view... sure if you walk to the end of the deck and crane your neck down the way, otherwise the relaxing porch vibe is a comforting view of 4 other rentals. CatFish 5: The little things, the water from the sinks smells of sulphur so the water softner isn't working (they'll say its being the mountains). The fine print says one roll of toliet paper... for one week? Talk about penny pinching. Check in time- just know that your first day is literally paying for one night, a bit excessive. Love the wood work and the kitchen was great and the gas grill we used everyday which was a huge plus for us. The sleeper sofa was very uncomfortable to sit on or relax on as most sleeper sofas are. Me and the wife took turns sitting in the single chair to be kind of comfortable as we watched Christmas movies for her birthday week. The bed was very firm but once you laid there for a sec it kinda formed to your body and was pretty comfy.The WI/FI for the tv was semi-good for the first day and then the rest of the time was terrible. Constantly freezing or the picture would go very bad because of poor WI/FI speed. The hot tub was a delight and we relaxed a lot in there. The "heated" swimming pool was a huge disappointment for us as we thought it would be heated and be at least kinda warm but was way to cold to get in and enjoy. We had planned on sitting in there and floating and watching tv from the pool but we were not even able to get in the water for it being so cold. Would be good if it was in the 80's or 90's but definitely not heated for colder temps. The room itself was very warm just not the water and the wicker furniture was not comfortable at all to sit on and watch tv. Nice cabin overall. It was clean. Just some bullet points. They say you can check in at 3:00. So you plan the trip around that and last minute they will tell you it's not ready. Couldn't get into till after 5. These cabins are expensive so I will always feel like that is theft. They set an expectation and then change it and tell you there is nothing they can do. Fine? Don't say 3 then. Advertise 5 and then let us in early if available. Under promise and over deliver. Business etiquette 101. Don't steal from the people paying the bill. I paid for those 2 hours and you didn't let me have them. When things are broken, they will text you last minute and say oops sorry you can't use that thing. But no credit will be given. Again, not guests fault. Simple. Make it right! Pool is nice. It's too bad you can't use it. The house sits at the bottom of a hill. There are huge windows that make it like a fish bowl for all the homes above it. Zero privacy. So at night all the neighbors can watch you. Needs blinds. There are alarms on everything. Doors. The pool room door alarm was a nuisance, and the pool water alarm (set to swim mode) went off after 5 minutes activity or not. If the guest was able to set alarm to "mute" or "off", all would be well. However a screw blocked the "off" and "mute" settings. We understand insurance likely mandates these alarms, but they were a significant negative to our stay. First, on my way up I was notified that my cabin would not be ready at the check in time, and that I would not be compensated for it. I reported the issue and someone was sent out the next day. When the cleaning people arrived they didn't knock and just walked in an needless to say we were not decent. Embarrassing!!! The pans were dirty and there was only a tiny bottle of dishe detergent and one pod for the dishwasher. Only one roll of toilet tissue per bathroom so bring your own. The electricity went out for a few but I don't think it was the fault of the cabin, but that didn't help the experience. I almost forgot after the cleaning people cleaned the hot tub.. we had to trouble shoot and recalibrate because it would not heat. I requested directions from the Resort team and they sent us directions for a different tub. But we found the right one on YouTube. The drain in the bathroom shower was clogged and filled up fast when we showered. The pool is small not deep but OK for a small group. Also, not too much privacy there are a lot of cabins around." The lower deck had tree coverage so that was very nice, but no view. We did need to contact the management company regarding minor TV issue and the pool TV did not operate at all and we only had 1 fork total that we could find. We purchased plastic utensils and notified management upon our departure. The management company was very responsive and that alone is one reason I would recommend this cabin. As a rental owner in other locations, not everything will be perfect, but management makes a huge difference. Overall, I would recommend this cabin and it was as advertised. The actual size of this rental was bigger than I expected. There are only a few things I would suggest that would have made this a perfect experience: The hot tub wasn't in complete working condition and there was a lot of calcium sediments. We called for maintenance and was grateful for their quick response; even though they could not fix the issue during our stay (which was disappointing as I was looking forward to being able to enjoy it). I would suggest that any amenities offered should be available in working and clean condition. Second suggestion would be to add an outside eating area on the deck, was hoping to sit outside and enjoy the mountain view while eating dinner/breakfast/lunch. And lastly, I feel that your top deck should include lounge sitting, it would have been nice to sit out on the deck more during our stay but the rockers were not at all comfortable. The pool was a bit cooler that we had hoped, but understand it stays a 83 degrees for moisture control at the cabin. if it were a few degrees warmer, we would have enjoyed the pool more. We did call the call the office once for a noise coming from the hot tub area and they responded very timely and with no interruption to our stay. The only issues we had were the previous guests never ran the dishwasher and housekeeping never noticed it so when we went to go load it there were moldy dishes stinking in the dishwasher. I did call the office to let them know about this and they did offer to send someone out but we said we would just run it when we left. Also we went to go pull the blinds up on multiple windows there were a lot of dead bugs and dirt on the windowsills. Besides those small housekeeping issues it was a fantastic stay. However, when we checked in (which was a smooth process) I was a little disappointed. As soon as we got settled in and toured the cabin, we noticed the floors were dirty with food crumbs which some were stuck to hardwood floor (in the living area), the sheets had blood spot stains on them, the shower floor had extremely long black hair in it, and the shower doors were full of soap scum. The bedroom closet had a dead bug and food crumbs in the closet, and the pool area had hair and debris balls near the pool and back door. I understand and hav traveled enough to not expect too much from any hotel/cabins/short term rentals to be immaculate; However, I did not expect to take 45 minutes out of my vacation to clean a place that charges a cleaning fee...unacceptable! Now the customer service was understanding and also told us they would send someone to rectify the situation. So after an hour went by, my husband and I cleaned the cabin. I called customer service to see what time someone was coming out with the sheets and she said she would let us know when they get an ETA. Needless to say, we didn’t get that phone call, so we left for dinner and went to the nearest Walmart to purchase sheets and a coverlet, well as towels. To be fair, someone came while we were gone and changed the sheets, but put the dirty pillow shams back on the bed with changed sheets. I provided plenty of pictures of the dirtiness immediately after checking in while in communication with customer service. I kindly asked for a refund or even a portion of the cleaning fee since we did have to take time out of vacay to do something we were charged for. All of our concerns where addressed with the exception of the refund. The cabin would have been a quaint space had it not been so unkept. On the day of check in, we were sent a link to confirm our time of arrival. 3pm was supposed to be the standard check in time, by 330pm we had still not received information with the door code. We were told it may be later because someone still needed to check on the pool. We were disappointed because we had driven 7 hours and were paying for the entire day, but understood things happen. When we arrived, the door to the pool had a different code. Tried calling customer service and only through texting were we able to get that code, after 530pm. The waterfall on the pool was boarded up, and though advertised as a heated pool it was actually just a heater blowing warm air above the pool (you could not control the temp). We selected this location based on the views from the balcony, we wanted our ceremony out there and honeymoon privacy. The pictures are from a specific angle; it looks like only one cabin is nearby but the reality is there are 6 cabins close by, with construction ongoing. We had construction sounds during our ceremony. A handyman showed up the second day in the morning stating he didn’t think anyone would be there and he needed 4 hours on our wedding day to fix the waterfall. We turned him away, stating this was not a good day for it. A neighboring cabin then had a siren go off repeatedly, when we contacted the company we found out all the cabins are managed by different companies and they could not help. The lack of privacy was disappointing, we could see into others cabins and they could see into ours, including part of the hot tub. There was a lot of garbage in the back yard and surrounding the back area. Other than these things, the cabin was huge, clean, and perfect location between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. It was a great location with close proximity to town. The neighborhood that the cabin was in was in was a developing cabin area. Lots of construction, the view from the cabin will be beautiful once the construction is completed. In the meantime, it was pretty loud from the building taking place. The hot tub was another issue, it was not filled up, had large yellowish-brown flakes floating in it and in the seats. We called maintenance as soon as we saw it and they came promptly. However, the flakes were still in there so we didn’t utilize it. The pool was great though. The cabin also had lots of furnishings that we used. I think it will be a great place once the construction is done and the hot tub problem is solved.
