We had a series of problems with our cabin that was rented from elk Springs resort. Upon arrival, we could not get into the cabin with the code needed and reached out to customer service. He was able to get us in in a reasonable amount of time. The first night the heat did not work. The maintenance man came out and said it was working, but it was certainly not. They came out again the second day and did get it working. While in the cabin we found that the air hockey table was weird and the puck would not stay on the table. The basketball hoop was missing batteries. The worst of the trip was that after the snowstorm, the property company elk Springs resort basically said that they are not responsible to clean the driveway or property and left us on our own. They offered us to stay another night at an adult reduce straight, but certainly did not offer any solutions on how to get off of the mountain. The driveway was absolutely horrendous to get in and out of the cabin and it should’ve been their responsibility. The downstairs bathroom was used as a storage closet and not usable. There was also an open pocket knife left on the bedside table. One of the lamps in the bedroom was broken and there was a burnt out bulb in the bathroom. The noise from the road was loud. I didn’t feel safe out near the sides of the cabin since it was a steep hill and no fencing to stop you. It was cozy, though, and the sauna tub was lovely. The tv would not let us connect to our Netflix/ prime etc . There was only a few local channels. There was an almost empty travel size container of tide for us to wash with. The hot tub had clean water but smelled like musk. The next morning the cabin smelled like sewer. The rental agent offered to sent maintenance out for the tv and the sewer but we didn’t get back to t$3 cabin until late Saturday night and left On Sunday Morning. Overall it was an okay stay but I feel like for the price it should have been a better stay." When we arrived there was a dried up 3 inch centipede in front of the bathtub and a few dead bugs on the floor in the kitchen. With my husband being a germaphobe that didn't go over too well. After driving 12 hours to get there, we were looking forward to a nice hot tub to soak the stress away. The deck was so dirty and full of spiders that we didn't want to track dirt into the hot tub. We called maintenance in the a.m. and they said they would be out to clean the 2 decks. They didn't show up until after 5 p.m. After the cleaning lady finished it was good. Overall the bed was comfy, adequate living space, and it was peaceful on the back deck except when traffic went by which was all day long or the barking dogs on nearby properties. I will look for a cabin that isn't so close to a main road next time. Gatlinburg was very congested with people and traffic which was very stressful. I would compare it to Summerfest in Milwaukee. Not my cup of tea. We went to a local steak house and the waiter told us that they used to get 3 to 4 million visitors per year but now they get about 13 to 14 million. That is way too many in a town that has a population of 3900. We stayed at the cabin most of the time & played cribbage and my husband enjoyed the hot tub every morning with his cup of coffee. It is a beautiful area minus the congestion. We will continue to look for our dream retirement spot, but this one wasn't it. Thank you." Kitchen was very well equipped, bed was comfortable, and an easy drive to Gatlinburg and Smoky Mountain National Park. The downside was complete lack of water pressure. On days one and two, we had no problem taking showers, however on day 3 we awoke to no water and placed a call into maintenance. We left for the day and when we returned we had water, but very low pressure. The shower would not work because of this and don't even think about doing laundry! The bonus area downstairs was a great addition, but had a terrible mildew smell to it. We had to open windows when downstairs. While we would love to stay here again, we would need to know this issue had been remedied prior to booking another stay. We had a snow storm in STL and almost didn’t make it to our cabin. When we called it was either come or not but your money will not be returned nor could we reschedule. Also, the grocery store listed 5 min away is a poor option, just a ma and pa general store on the road. It takes about 30 minutes to get to the cabin from the main strip so stop at Walmart or wherever before heading in as the roads are long and winding. Cabins are up on hills so be prepared for that too. Overall, we truly enjoyed our stay, it was relaxing and we had fun reconnecting and getting away from outside noise. While we were sleeping on 12/10, we were awaken by bugs crawling on our pillows. Our second time using Elk Springs Resort, this time using a smaller, more intimate cabin for the two of us. Some locations are more private than others; this was a little less private but private enough. Views are not as spectaular, either. Had everything we needed, we brought in food so we could unplug and not go anywhere. The staircase to the game room was a little unsettling, wear shoes as they are slippery and you could easily slip through the openings between stairs.
