Our condo offers ample space, (988 sq. ft.), privacy and a prime location. With two bathrooms, two king sized beds, and a queen sized convertible sofa, it can comfortably accommodate four guests. Enjoy the cable TVs in each room, and Wi-Fi and parking are free. NO AC IN THIS UNIT. RATES: Rates for this unit are based on four occupants, and vary depending on season, length of stay, and whether booked at the last moment. Guest Reservations cancelled within 30 days of scheduled arrival shall be subject to forfeiture of the entire rental amount unless the unit can be re-booked with another guest for that period. In the latter case, the forfeiture shall be limited to the amount, if any, by which the rent received by the replacement booking falls short of that due for the Guest Reservation. As above, any refund provided under these circumstances shall be subject to a $75 cancellation fee.

We stayed at Hale Kai in 2013 (3 units for our entire family) but importantly for us, those units were near the ocean, and not close to the road. There are pros and cons to this unit. Pros: next to a small state park- Honokōwai Beach Park - with turtles and snorkeling; small sandy beach area near the pool; nice balcony and view of the park and ocean; comfortable living space; 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms; both bedrooms were comfortable; decent kitchen; pool and bbq area; close to shops and Kaanapali beach area and other Lahaina area attractions. Cons: This unit, unlike other units farther from the busy road, had a lot of road noise at times. During the night we mostly slept ok because the traffic declined substantially. For us, the highlight of the stay was the close proximity to the park next door. We snorkeled with large turtles in the nearby reef. While the location of Halr Kai is nearly perfect for us, the condo we rented has seen its glory fade to a shabby version of its former self. We arrived to a rather dark, dingy apartment with nine burned out lightbulbs, numerous unworking power plugs, rotted window frames, filthy furniture, and a next door neighbor (full time tenant wovrks for the complex) with a barking dog. I’ve stayed at Hale Kai three or four times previously — the first time in 1985, and each of the units have been very pleasant. Unit 112, not so much. The crew at Hale Kai were great! They were all smiles and helpfulness. As I said, the location is fantastic, with a community park next door and a pool overlooking the ocean. The grounds and exterior are meticulously groomed. It was a little difficult walking around to different stores, only because there wasn't a sidewalk on both sides of the main Street. There are also some good restaurants nearby that are within walking distance. The beach at Hale Kai is not that great.. we always drove to a better beach. The park was nice to see with all the families enjoying a day out. Having the ocean so close, and a pool were lovely. The suggestions I have for you to consider are: ensure the condo is vacuumed before each guest, the bathrooms cleaned before each guest and consider replacing the mattress on the loft bed in the suite. We found it had a dip in the middle that made sleeping awkward. Besides those suggestions, I have to say the units were well managed, the managers approachable, the complex was quiet, the grounds lovely and we would book again - if we could rely on the unit being clean and the bed in better shape. We did have a nice time and thank you for that." It is old and tired, with a ceiling fan that clacks and whines. The upstairs air conditioner dripped constantly onto the front doormat. The shower had black mold around the door. The hot water faucet did not work in the bathroom. the dishwasher did not work. My brother booked an adjacent unit and the shower did not work at all. He was asked "what do you expect from a bargain unit?" when he complained. The AC remote was not available until 2 days after we arrived. While it may be 150 feet from the seawall, it is 20 feet from 1 of the busiest roads on west Maui. You will never hear the surf, but you will be disgusted with the road noise. The condo faces the park, with a sideview of the ocean. The pool is approximately 30x50 feet. We stayed for 15 days, but no linen change was offered after 1 week. Instead, we washed and dried our linens (1 towel, hand towel and washcloth per guest!) in the commercial laundry facility. So- why did we stay? A bombproof cancellation policy that requires cancellation 60 days prior. For $175/night, do yourself a favor and book elsewhere." The oceanfront is gorgeous and the reef right out from is full of life. Huge sea turtles visit every day. I love the location and small complex with locals mixed with visitors. I love the park next door and the Farmer's Market store, as well as the Fish Store. The unit was spacious and in good repair. There were a couple of things that needed attention and they are always prompt to take care of them. The only downside is the road outside and amount of activity on and along the road sometimes late into the night and early in the morning. I plan to return again someday if I am able. Handfuls of hair in shower drains, filthy mirrors, blood stains on "clean"sheets, disgustingly filthy bedspreads, un-speakables under beds, maid service didn't even turn on dishwasher or take out garbage, shag carpets had stuff buried in it, tiles missing in bathroom, build up of years of crud on inside kitchen cupboard door handles, (took photos) had to take them off and clean them ourselves, pubic hair in bathrooms around baseboards, loud eccentric full time tenant fed 1,000 birds from her deck at 6am every day, rude clique around pool made us feel unwelcome BUT office staff and location was fantastic.
