The unit was clean, with beach chairs, boogie boards, cooler, etc. I'd like to report to maintenance that the lanai sliding glass door lock was inoperative. We didn't feel insecure there, but knowing you could lock up the apartment when gone would be more comforting. There was a wifi router in the unit, but no login/password instructions. That would have been nice. We found the grounds impeccably maintained, but were surprised that they let dog owners from the adjacent local park defecate on the manicured lawn. We saw this occur at least 5 times where the owners did not pick up after themselves. I would post signage on the parking area boundary of the park. Shame on them! I would certainly recommend Maui Sunset and would stay there again. Much more "local feel" then the overpriced Kaanapali shore. Cockroach in the closet, counters not wiped, etc. There was not adequate cleaning supplies to fix this, so I had to run to Safeway to get glass cleaner and Clorox. I left the cleaning supplies when I checked out for the next guest, so you are welcome. There is rampant drug use right outside the property. From the view of our lanai, we watched TWO arrests. One of the children in our party found a meth pipe in the stairs on the B side. We didn't want to walk to the beach, because it didn't feel safe. So, let's get to the staff and the real problem with your resort. You allow the owners to treat guests as villains, and do nothing to protect your guests from this. Your manager made my mom tap on her glass after she told you it was plastic. So, basically, you called her a liar. This was after two of your owners did the same. They were not reprimanded, and you all looked like fools--because it was plastic. But this was just an everyday occurrence. My son was swimming laps, and was reprimanded by an owner for "boisterous activity". Since when is swimming laps "boisterous"? When I complained, the poolside employee asked me if he was racing. Seriously? Sorry that he is a better swimmer than your aging population. And he was just swimming laps, but the owner wanted to float on a pool noodle with no wake--so I guess she wins. Again, this happened everyday. There is an incident that I could report for all 10 days--comments from your owners--and no one doing anything to stop them---even when they are dead wrong. And I watched your staff appease these people, time after time. The staff would apologize with words like "Well, they are always watching us (your owners)". You know what? I don't care. We paid to be here, too. No one from our party had a good experience and will never be back. You have two options: Only allow rentals over 65+ (hurts overall value) or assess the owners and put in an adult only pool to let people live. " May 04, 2019 - , Milton, WA "JoAnn S.
