CANCELLATION POLICY: Cancellations made ninety (90) days or more prior to arrival shall not be responsible for the final balance of the reservation. The $200 deposit made at the time of booking is non refundable after the booking is made. Cancellations of less than ninety (90) days prior to arrival shall forfeit the entire rent and excise tax (less cleaning fees) unless we are able to re-rent the property. Refunds on any forfeiture will be issued the dollar value the unit is re-rented for during the same dates as the canceled reservation. There is no refund for early departure or no shows.

The Kona Makai condo was great for us. Accessible, comfortable, and secure. Only a few minute drive from the central town for a quick outing. We also made the most of the pool and the ocean-side lounge chairs on the property. The check-in communication was clear for us. Definitely recommend the spot!" Ample appliances for cooking. Bed needs replaced, very used but still slept well. Only 2 extr trash bags, so had to purchase box of 30 just for a couple more bags. Gate was not open for hours advertised, had to use code in afternoon. Boogie boards were hiding under bed, didn't see them till last day, so pretty much weren't available for us, with all the notes on rules would have been n8ce to tell us where they were hiding, who looks under a bed? Knutson associate was quick to text back about bags but didn't supply any after asking. Said the owner needed to be contacted to get bags. Should have said to bring some from home. Thought knutson associates should have just broyght bags over, nobody offeredn to bring some over even when I saw two offices were open. Still had good time and overall excellent stay. Would love to return and would be happy with staying in same unit. Good location for town access, snorkeling beaches, volcano park,, Airport and access to northern part of island." Absolutely great place . Don't mind the pool rules so much kids need to play. It's definitely worth the stay .. I won't stay anywhere else. Each unit is great . Also bring snorkel gear you can go right out front every morning. One thing I do miss, is when they used to hang bananas in the cabana area. Was so much fun. We will be back soon." Unit had more useful stuff than other condos we stayed at - we found 3 coolers, a few beach bags, 4-5 sets of snorkel gear in the closet alone and few body boards under the bed. We didn't cook, but it appeared to have everything needed for cooking. Ocean views and sounds from the lanai were great. Location was close to downtown but not in the middle of things, which was a plus. Only downside is that some of the furniture and furnishings are older, worn-out - like the the couch which has some cushions with ripped fabric. Overall, great place to stay in Kona." We were able to get a late check out on our last day which was helpful since we had a late flight. We were close enough to Kona for shopping and restaurants but far not to be in the middle of town. The lanai was very comfortable and we loved drinking our coffee while watching and listening to the waves in the morning. The property itself was beautiful and quiet. This unit in particular is in need of much love. Shower is close to being inoperable and drains poorly. There are no beach towels to be found, but the unit was packed with almost too much of everything making it seem crowded. The clothes dryer required a maintenance call to fix the door (thank you!) and would only work once we flipped the breaker switch on and off a few times. Carpet appears to be original. BBQ grills outside were either not working or would only reach 250-300 degrees. Unless we can find a more updated unit, we will sadly not return to Kona Makai in the future.
