Your own private indoor pool with waterfall will create a memorable vacation for the adults and kids. If by some small chance anyone gets bored, you can shoot a game pool or use the free highspeed WIFI. Even better, relax with a book on the covered deck or even in front of the gas fireplace. Better yet, you can soothe yourself in the hot tub on the covered deck. The fully equipped kitchen will provide you with everything you need to prepare in cabin meals during your short or extended stay - after all, the kids may never want to leave the cabin. If you do want to adventure out you are just 20 minutes to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park main entrance, 15 minutes to Dollywood, 8 Minutes to the Arts and Crafts Community and only 15 minutes to Downtown Gatlinburg. For all the money you’re spending there is an annoying amount of signs about different things they will fine you for. The drive to this cabin specifically is up a very steep gravel driveway which was scary to drive on so make sure your vehicle can make it in those conditions. The pool was tiny which shocked me (it’s great that it’s indoors and private but maybe I just missed the dimensions somewhere). They give you plenty of towels which is awesome and the staff is very professional and welcoming. Your starter set of things like soap is pretty scarce and there are not enough dishes/detergent for more than two people who are staying for an extended period of time. So yeah... it’s good but expensive for what you’re getting." And all the tv hookups in the living room downstairs was old and did not work for personal devices and tv was boxed in so that we could not get behind it to try to fix connections but All over a great experience and would want to go again when I can." The cabin itself was fairly clean but one of the only bed pillows had mold on it . I also dropped my flashlight behind bed post and it’s disgusting back there . Obviously never dusted or cleaned behind . When I checked in two dirty comforters were spread out on washing and dryer . I also spoke with customer service regarding this and never got much of an answer . Biggest issue for me was maintenance. I told customer service I didn’t want any more visits since I had them out already a few times and just wanted to relax . On my last day there I was relaxing in jacuzzi upstairs and maintenance just walked in and yelled they were in kitchen . Pretty frustrating that no call or text was sent to me to ask if this was ok . I did reach out to customer service for a can opener as cabin was missing it . If nothing else customer service should do a good check of this cabin as there are dirty utensils , and just some summer cleaning that would make it much more enjoyable! Highlights: We were glad to find the cabin was tucked away from the hustle and bustle with a little more privacy.The pool was the highlight of the trip for my daughter and she spent every day in it. Opportunities:I'd recommend some shorter pool sticks as the room isn't big enough to use full sized sticks at many angles. The cabin could use a deep clean as there was dust on a lot of surfaces. We received a text delaying it until 5:30. We sat in the car and the cleaning lady arrived around 3:30. She said she'd be done in 40 minutes which we knew was unrealistic. We decided to go eat and came back after 5 and she was just loading up to leave. We received our door code and went inside. The cabin was as described however I'm not sure what she did for 1.5 hours because the floors were not swept, refrigerator not cleaned, stovetop was dirty, trash on porch not picked up, toilet seats and tops not clean (hairs on seat and under seat), hair on the sink (most likely from toilet), floor behind toilets were DISGUSTING!, bedroom area not dusted, floor behind the end tables had not been swept for awhile, the walls in the bathroom had visible dirt/dust, previous guests razors and items under the sink. Makes you wonder what was clean. The contract states that the hot tub is drained after each guest. There was not evidence it was even looked at because if it had been then the trash on the porch would have been picked up and the cover wouldn't have a layer of dust on it. The tub in the bedroom looked clean however the jets were black and the plug had black mold inside. There were clothing tags under the bed. The pool table needs swept and angled differently so you can actually play a game without hitting a wall. There is a pile of dead bugs in the windows and the fans needed dusted. Thankfully I had clorox wipes & disinfectant spray so I cleaned the bathrooms. I text the company and advised them it was not clean they asked if they could do anything. I told them I had cleaned and it was already way past check-in and didn't want to wait any longer after a long day of travel. It is obvious that inspections have not been made for awhile. I understand everyone is short staffed but this was unacceptable. The cabin is located out of the way but close enough to Downtown Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. The pool brings with it warm and humid environment which can draw the little critters in. The wi-fi is less than optimal, an extender for upstairs would be beneficial, could use more utensils, pans, mixing bowls in the kitchen, a plunger bc there are signs about stopping up the toilet which we didn't but some people use a lot toilet paper and a plunger would be helpful. A hairdryer I feel is a basic for rentals. A book telling where things are located like linens and pillows for pull out, maybe some food recommendations or activity recommendations would be awesome. The A/C struggles to cool the upstairs. The pool could be a few degrees warmer. Also, you have a woodpecker that is eating your cabin and a squirrel or something in the roof. The couch uncomfortable. The jacuzzi jets didn’t work. But the hot tub did. We used that as an alternative. The hot tub was very nice and I like the calm atmosphere. The cabin overall was clean. We did step on a lot of caterpillar and centipede inside of the cabin. At least 12. But it is in the middle of nature so no big deal. The pool water was freezing. But it was still beautiful area. The jets and pool water was minor to me. The sign really bothered me. I’m not sure if family and I would use elk springs in the future as I don’t think my race is welcomed. Thank you for your time." We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Mountain Splash. It was easy to get to. We played pool every day' relaxed in the hot tub, and enjoyed the beautiful view right from our loft bed looking out at a mountain top. The pool was bigger than we anticipated. For those taking kids, an alarm is on the door that will go off every time you open the door to the pool so you know if your kids go into the pool room. This is a one bed cabin but it does have a pullout. The size was perfect for just my husband and I. We are return customers to Elk Springs Resort because they have never disappointed us with any cabin we have ever rented. Thank you for another great stay in Gatlinburg!! However, I must note that my children missed two days of virtual school because the WiFi here was so poor. All of our devices constantly dropped the connection, and resetting the modem and router had no effect (at their suggestion when I called). I expected better and would not have stayed here had I known the WiFi wouldn't support two children doing Google meets. One other disappointment - there were no sheets for the sleeper sofa, and it was the only other bed in the unit besides the king bed in the bedroom. I didn't realize until 8:45 pm, and when I called - after leaving a message, since nobody answered - they said 10:45pm was the estimated delivery time, which is an hour plus after my child's bedtime. They did deliver by 9:45pm in the end, which I appreciated, but the person who delivered the sheets was looking at his phone the entire time - he never even glanced up at me when he handed me the sheets. It was stunningly rude in light of the circumstances. One more note - I suggest you bring a 4WD vehicle even in summer. We had a minivan and I was genuinely nervous each time we approached the house that our vehicle would not make it up the hill. It was a STEEP incline. Also the house is in a an area where all of the roads in and out are extremely narrow - as in, only big enough for one vehicle. I drove around hairpin curves in fear of meeting another car and not having anywhere to go. This location is not for the faint of heart, especially since the cell reception is very iffy." The furniture needs to be updated badly. The bed was so hard I woke up with a major backache every single morning. Not very clean either. Our feet were black from just walking on the floors inside. The fridge had dustballs and layers of dust all along the top. Could barely sit on the couch and it was stained with filth. If the furniture was updated it would have made out stay much more comfortable. We were happy to leave and it shouldn't be like that. This includes, a spa or hot tub, a wonderful farmer porch that wraps around the front of the cabin, where you can relax and enjoy a book, talking with friends, enjoying the views of the nearby mountains, or yes, even taking a nap. Although millipede bugs are harmless, they were annoying and there were too many millipede bugs. We slept fine with no complaints. The pool area is a nice size. There's an alarm on the door and a code is required to access the area. The only issue we had during our stay was the millipedes. Pros: Cons: We were forced to wait 2 hours past check-in to get into the chalet, as the pool tech was there working on a leaking pool. It was after 5:00 pm before we were allowed to get the code to get in. We got calls daily from the resort management telling us the maintenance guy was going to be entering our chalet. The pool leaked daily so much that a maintenance man had to come to the chalet daily and interrupt our vacation to work on the pool. The waterfall never worked and he never attempted to fix it. He was only there to fill the pool daily as it leaked. The hot tub had only one jet working There was an animal inside the chalet every night but we had no luck trapping it and it scared our granddaughter to even sleep there and she's 10. It was not a mouse. It was big enough to knock a lamp over. We actually went out and bought a trap, but had no luck. The pictures on the web of the pool area are outdated and new pictures showing the mess should be put up. There are 2 big holes cut in the floor at the end of the pool. No working waterfall. The pool area no longer looks like the pics on the web. The drive to the chalet is so overgrown that trees are hanging from both sides of the road as well as over the top of your vehicle so you have no choice but to drive through it and scratch your vehicle up in the process. We came back to the chalet after being out all day and there was a nosy neighbor that we found standing in our driveway looking down into the pool area deck below. The people in the house next to the chalet are locals and had no problem coming on to the chalet property and it made it creepy. We've stayed at Elks Spring a few times and never had an experience like this. The cabin is almost on top of a mountain, except for a few other cabins in the vicinity, it is remote despite being only 5 minutes from one of the main drives into Gatlinburg. If you want peace and quiet and overall solitude, this is your place. But the location is very convenient with the grocery store and gas nearby and <15 minutes to the entrance to GSM park. Since we decided to stay in and cook for ourselves in general, dinner @ Estrella Hondumex on the day of our arrival and a lunch in Cherokee NC another day were our only eating out. The kitchen is good for doing this (counter space is limited) and there is an outdoor charcoal grill. The pool with its fountain and the hot tub were both perfect. We spent hours of every day relaxing in the water. It was great to have the privacy and to swim whenever we wanted without going anywhere. The hot tub on the porch is in a great setting with a view of the surrounding tree tops and distant mountains. Weather was great the whole week. Essentially no bugs despite being in the middle of the woods. The major downside was hearing critters behind the master bedroom wall which became louder each night, keeping us awake. This was reported to the property management but I would recommend against renting this without first checking on the status of this specific issue. The cabin overview states "sleeps 4" but this would be cramped unless it was another couple or young children. There's only 1 bedroom and 2 bathrooms but only 1 shower. The living room couch is a sleeper sofa but the room is small and you can't leave it open. The other larger room on the main level has a pool table but it's not quite big enough with the pool cues sometimes hitting the walls. Overall this is a great rental and the 2nd "luxury" cabin we rented in the Smokies. We were told that a passcode would be sent by text between 1:30-2:30 on the day of arrival (check-in at 3:00). We arrived around 3:30 and had not received it yet. We had horrible cell reception at the cabin (Verizon) and had to drive back into town in order to call the office. The first 2 calls left us on hold for approx 10 minutes before going to voicemail. We finally got through and were able to get the code. The cabin is not on resort site, which we knew. We were not prepared for the area it was in. The surrounding area was very run-down homes with trash and cars piled up in the yard. The drive way was very rough and almost needed 4-wheel drive to get up it. Once inside, the cabin itself was nice (much smaller than how it appears online) and tastefully furnished, but not clean. Most things were covered in a layer of dust. There were dead bugs around the top of the jacuzzi tub. The pool was disgusting! The water was so dirty that you couldn't even see the steps. A pool guy came by and apologized for the way it looked. He had to add extra chemicals and then advised us to not get in for the rest of the day :( There was a locked door leading into the pool which was good, but the stairs leading down to the door were very steep and were in the main part of the cabin with no door or covering. Not good if you have small children. We ended up staying long enough to do the things we went to do (aquarium, etc) but left a day early just to get out of the cabin. This is the first time we've stayed with this company and the first time we have ever been disatisfied. We will stick with Oak Haven from now on. We have always had a good experience with them. We went with this one this time due to the indoor pool, which we couldn't use." The house was tiny but we expected that and didn't spend too much time there anyway. My kids loved the pool. It was clean and well maintained. It was was pretty clean except for I did find some random hairs on our towels like they got washed and then just stuck to them. It was gross but understandable. Both pieces of furniture need to go in the nearest dumpster. For the cost of the rental, and with luxury in the title, they really went cheap on the furniture, towels, pots/pans, etc. It may also seem petty but I had better toilet paper in Afghanistan. Spring for some name brands for Pete's sake. Squeezing every nickel may be great for your pocket now but it won't get us to come back. Again , the cabin was great but it's the finer details that would have put this place over the top that were missing. The location off the artists loop was great; it was near CLIMB Works zip line and mountain bike which was GREAT! We also really enjoyed the Alamo restaurant which was very convenient to the cabin. After settling in we started dinner and noticed that the dishes and utensils were filthy. When I got the butcher knife out to cut vegetables it had to first be cleaned because of the dirt and gross grime. Then after cleaning the knife it fell apart in my hand, which could have been very dangerous. The bathrooms had not been cleaned and there was grime and stains in the toilets and shower. We called the office to complain and asked that the bathroom be cleaned the next day while we were out. This was never done! Someone did come to the rental while we were out and dropped off a new box of knives. We also called and complained about the rodents or animal in the attic area between the roof and the rafters. Overall we were very dissatisfied in our stay. The lack of maintenance for such a beautiful home and location was a huge disappointment. Everything listed on the site was there. We really couldn't have asked for more. However, I would not stay here again nor recommend this particular cabin to anyone. Where the cabin is located there is a neighboring home about 200 feet from the front door of the cabin. The home is not a rental and has a tenant who I assume lives there year round. We stayed 7 days and I was calling Elk Springs on the second day because the neighbor continuously walked his dog on the property throughout the day. The hot tub is located on a balcony along the left side of the cabin. That side also contains a fair piece of grassy area that leads into the backyard. Well we were in the hot tub and here comes the neighbor without a care in the world. Well at that time were in no particular state of dress to say anything so we just hunkered down. Around midnight he again walked his dog up to and in front of the window on the front side of the house. I called the next morning and had to leave a message because they were busy. NO return call. Two days later I had definitely had enough and again called several times in a row and finally spoke with Dan who I told it was really to the point that I was ready to call the police. He told me that is exactly what " I " should do. Well... I don't think that I should be the one to call the police. I rented the cabin for safety, security, and relaxation. I still had three more days left to live there and possibly have to deal with then an irate peeping tom. It continued all week until we checked out at 10am. He walked his dog at 927 up to and around the backyard right back to his front door. Elk Springs. This was a our second visit and will not be our last. However, you did drop the ball on this one and we will never rent this particular cabin again even though it was fabulous. We vacationed with our 4 & 6 yr old and had the time of our life. Funny thing is we were so entertained we never left the cabin! We played pool, board games, swam, grilled, rocked in the rocking chairs, hit the hot tub and ended with a nice bath in the heart jacuzzi tub! It was amazing. We were able to lower the temperature in the jacuzzi so we could stay in longer and the kids were comfortable. The view from the jacuzzi tub was so nice! And there's a leather chair in the living room that is so comfortable you don't wanna get out! The pool was a cute little pool but roomy enough for the 4 of us and the pool temp was always at 83 degrees with the room temp nice and warm so it felt good! The waterfall was a nice touch and the kids loved playing in it. Basically everything was as described. We didn't have any surprises. The confirmation email was very specific about what to expect and what to bring and how to get in with the Code for the lock. I like that the pool had a separate lock so you never had to worry about the kids wandering down there. This was our first stay with elk springs. There are 7 pool cabins and we loved it so much we plan to stay at all 7 pool cabins in the next few years!" This is my first experience with Elk Springs. In general, I was happy with the service I received from them. However, the cabin was not worth the money being charged. This cabin cost significantly more than the cabin that we had last summer with a pool, but it was much smaller. There was limited table/counter so we ended up using the pool table as a staging area. The "dining room" table was squeezed into an awkward corner at the bottom of the steps. The wifi was almost non-existent. If you were more than 3 feet from the router, you got no wifi signal. Even if you were close enough to it, the service was sometimes slow and spotty. There was only one closet for clothing and it was extremely small. There was only a pedestal sink in the bathroom and no space to put your toiletries. The deck was nice, but a small table would have been very helpful to have. Also, the dishwasher could not get the dishes clean, so we ended up washing dishes by hand. I do want to give kudos to Elk Springs...when our trash cans got full, a quick call to their offices was all that was needed. They came out that same day and emptied them. The driveway was not a problem for us, but if steep driveways make you nervous, this is not the place for you. Other than that, I liked the location.
