Gather in the great room around the fire with plenty of comfortable seating or head out to the screened in porch and enjoy the outdoors. Not many cabins feature screened in porches, so if A Secret Hideaway is available, you may want to book it! A fully equipped kitchen with seating for 6 is perfect for preparing and enjoying in cabin meals. For extended stays a washer/dryer is included in the cabin for your convenience. Not sure what to do during your stay? No problem, you have free WIFI and unlimited local and long distance in your cabin to find, plan and book your activities. Or contact one of our customer services associates who would be happy to assist you. Need a little extra relaxation? Enjoy views of the stars in your 100 degree hot tub in the screened in porch. Or retire to 1 of the 2 suites each with king beds, full baths and Jacuzzi tubs. A game room futon is available for the kids. The lower level features a dart board, game table and pool table to keep the fun level as high as possible. As a final touch you'll enjoy the catwalk to the upper level balcony. The roof leaked during the rain storm our last night, the inside walls have thick dust, every outdoor piece of furniture and outside corner are covered in spiders and their webs, and the dart board is missing the darts. The outside grounds around it have trash and broken glass. The cabin needs some upkeep and care. With that, this review would be different. Called customer service said maintenance would come, 1 hour later called them again, said it can take 2 hours for them to show up to check, we said we just need a new cabin, they said we’re unable to do that until someone came confirmed our issue...after two hours called again, said we were gonna leave to drive back to indiana , we don’t usually drive after dark said they’d get an answer from management call us back in 10 minutes, never called back , called again someone hung up, called again were told guy was on way in 10 called 5 times during 2 1/2 hours waited on porch for maintenance to show up, they would not move us until that happened..after a 6 hr drive was terrible to wait only to say ...yes they need another cabin, was moved to Secret Hideaway. Not same quality as one we booked, older, less clean, worse location, zero views, Hot tub and porch was nice, but that was it. No internet most of stay, no TV, no cell service they failed to tell us at checkin in it was down. The maintenance man was only helpful person, actually showed us they way to new cabin since internet , Wi-Fi down cell service ..no driving directions. Said customer service had emailed us or texted us our new code for the door... he started to drive off we jumped out of car to go after him because since all services were down, no way to receive the new code. Assume he gave us his code. Then we were stuck there till next morning until services came up temporarily so we could find directions out of the mountain. Landline in the cabin never worked the entire 5 days. Feel like we were ripped off. Cabins were not comparable..we first used Elk Springs 20 months ago, was our 3rd time using them 20 months . Will never utilize them again, Horrible customer service!!!" As soon as we had unloaded our vehicle, a 300lb black bear walked by our cabin. We are very aware of nature and animals, so the screen missing and no bars on the windows where the hot tub was, was not ok. It was like that when we arrived and idk why someone should have to "order" a screen? Homedepot/lowes has what is needed. Not to mention any snakes, or mountain lions could have made an appearance. The rooms were a comfortable size and the beds were comfortable, we brought our own pillows so I can’t say the quality of pillows. The pool table was nice as the power went out our last evening there, I had one bar enough to send out a text to the help number and they were quick to respond which was nice. Also, the check-on process was great, we received a door code once the unit was available, it allowed us to take our time traveling. The thermostat does not go below 72, I get it, it’s a large space open space and would cost a fortune to cool, they have ceiling fans throughout the cabin, but if you’re a hot sleeper this is definitely not for you. There is a small kitchen area fully equipped, we personally didn’t utilize so can’t attest to functionality although I did notice the drip pans had grime on them. The downside: For the price, you can find better. The carpet in the master is brown and crusty with age and use, there is a pretty obvious discoloration between the wall and walkable space where you can see the original carpeting was beige. The place was tidy, it just wasn’t clean. We were also unable to utilize the hot tub while we were there as the screened area was actually missing a screen and there were wasps in the area. It has a rustic theme with beds and pool table made of logs. It was very clean with the exception of a lamp or two that needed dusting. Be aware the cabin is located up several winding twisting roads. I would not say it is secluded - it is in a residential area with other cabins and houses close by, next door and across the street. The area is hilly and steep which was a bit of an issue for my elderly relatives. It is surrounded by trees giving the feeling of being in the woods. There are decks on two levels that we enjoyed sitting on and watching the wildlife. The owner was very responsive and answered my questions very quickly. Communication was great! Other than that the furniture was comfortable, we loved the pool table and the fact each room including the Game Room had Full bathroom's! I think we will be renting THIS particular Cabin again but in the Fall next year because it's literally surrounded by tree's and I think it will be Gorgeous in the Fall For sure. Although there are 3 bathrooms, the main level on e is in the bedroom and very inconvenient, it’s like entering someone’s privacy space. There is one in the upstairs master as well as downstairs to. The game room downstairs was small. The pool table is a beauty but the space needed to be about 3 ft wider to allow one to easily play without hitting the walls with the sticks. Hot tub and outdoor areas were very nice. The cabin needs an update and refresh. However, the communication with Elk Springs Resort prior to our arrival and during our stay was fantastic. We could not enjoy or evening in the hot tub or with adult beverages know there was a chance we would have to relocate and be on standby for the tech which we didnt know when would arrive. In the mean time i shut off the gas to the fire place and the smell went away. When the tech arrived he said he could smell the gas as he came out of the basement into the living room where the gas fireplace is. We had another tech come out Saturday morning and inspect the fireplace. He did see any leaks as he tested the gas line with a liter???? They do make gas leak detector that has soap constancy. That would be a safer choice. He lite the fireplace and left and shortly after the smell came back. We called in again and stated we were heading out for the day. They said they would send another tech. He came in says he didnt smell anything but shut the fireplace off. If he didnt smell anything why would he shut it off??? any how after a wasted night at the cabin and getting the run around i was told they would not be giving us a refund for 1 night. After that it goes down hill for us. I found the cabin on a search site under the search tag of secluded. It is NOT secluded or close to it. There are cabins out every window so close it’s not comfortable to leave them open. We did not use the jacuzzi because there was a cabin right there. Main floor bathtub keep window closed cabin right there. That was my first disappointment. Second in the winter at least it’s very hard to regulate the temperature in the house. Don’t plan to use the bottom floor it’s freezing while the top is hot. That just was not comfortable. The bottom floor is a futon that will hold one. We did not need it to hold two but just in case anyone was counting on it holding two they better sleep real close. The counter tops are tile I think is Just unsanitary. You just can’t clean tile grout and keep it from holding germs. This was our first family vacation ever and the only Christmas present we gave our family so we had hoped for a better experience. We left a day early as we just did not see the point in staying. Not that I expected anything from Elk Springs but I did email them about the seclusion and they promptly told me they were sorry I chose the wrong cabin. If you are going to the mountains in winter please drive a 4 or all wheel drive vehicle. My van barely made it when freezing rain started.
