Check in via phone text was seamless & property was ready a little before stated check in time. Be aware that the access road to the property is very narrow, steep, windy and unlit; best to arrive during daylight hours. The property was clean and welcoming when we arrived. The home was spacious and comfortable There are plenty of common areas indoors and out to gather. Beds were comfortable and there were plenty of towels. The view is unsurpassed. Pool house was great, although hot tub is no longer IN the pool house,as pictured. It has been replaced with free standing outdoor hot tub which we enjoyed under the stars at night and with mountain views during day. Loved the fire pit. We enjoyed watching our dvds on the pool house theater projector - fun! Note: photos of the rental property need to be updated to avoid possible confusion – for example the full kitchen pictured in pool house has been removed, although refrigerator and a microwave remain. Minor issues we had with the property were addressed promptly. We noticed the propane tanks for the grills were empty when we arrived, but maintenance responded quickly to our call and took care of replacing propane and servicing grills. We were impressed by his courtesy,professionalism and efficiency. Our family would definitely book a vacation rental through Elk Springs Resorts in the future. We paid over $5,000 for this property and for the owners to not keep it in luxury style is terrible. Here are our reviews about the home: * Could not access WiFi and Internet until Friday, Oct 1 when Xfinity technician came out. * Upon arriving the air conditioner on the main level was inoperative; called maintenance and he responded and was able to fix it. * There were numerous bees swarming the area and bee hive living in the bush bed directly by the front entrance door. The exterminator never showed up as we were told from maintenance. * The home is outdated. * Kitchen cabinets are old and some broken off the tracks. * Refrigerator outdated. * Ceiling fans issues: * Dead bugs in all of the fans throughout the house. * Lighting is extremely dark especially in the kitchen because most of the lights in the ceiling fan only had 1 bulb instead of 2-3 bulbs. * One of the upstairs bedrooms ceiling fan didn't work when the light switch was turned off. Mainly because there's no "cord" to pull the fan to work. * Kitchen ceiling fan has a broken cord. * Vents: some of the floor vents are broken and needs a screw ex: kitchen area * No iron to iron our clothes however there is an ironing board... * Bed comforters and pillows all needs updating. * Needs larger cooking pots and silverware to prepare large meals. * One of the upstairs bedrooms did not have a ceiling fan at all and needs one. * The upstairs bathrooms needs a "bar handle" in the bath tub due to the tub being slippery when wet in the event someone falls. * The can opener they had is old and worn; needs a new one. * The entire house has a foul odor. * Master bedroom is outdated, needs a ceiling fan; bathroom outdated. * Needs a larger sign at the roadway to the p" Oct 22, 2021 - , Antioch, TN "Not the Best Trip For the Price My family and I visited the Elk Springs Resort Mountain View Mansion on this past Monday, September 27-29, 2021. We paid a total of 4,040.00. Although the view itself was spectacular, I was overall displeased with this stay. The primary reason was because I went into the master bedroom to get some rest for the night and when I pulled the blanket back I saw two large separate spots of a dry white substance which resembles semen.....I immediately began to question..,.if the blanket is dirty and not cleaned properly what else had dirt lurking around it. Earlier my mom said it was dead bugs and leaves everywhere and began sweeping....then she washed her linen because she said it smelled dirty before I found spots on my blanket. The bulbs in the bathroom had extreme amounts of dirt on them, and we were emailed by the office that the projector screen was not working in the pool area. In addition to all this, we went outside Monday night to use the fire pit and it was full of ash and dirt all around the pit we did not use it because no one wanted to clean the mess out after all we did pay a maintenance and cleaning bill. We called and left a message at the front office around 5:30pm about all the items above including electrical outlets that did not work in the kitchen counter when we tried to plug in devices. They called back at 6:38pm saying they received the message but sent no one to the property. The next morning I called the office and reiterated what I mentioned above and added the new problem which was the possible semen on my sheets. Not ONE time did the person I spoke with apologize for the inconvenience. She just said she would send a team out to the property to address the issue and report it to management.! The maintenance staff Mark? And the housecleaning staff Loli ? Showed up at separate times around 1:00pm Tuesday to fix the issues mentioned above. The home was beautiful, clean and spacious for the entire family. The children loved the pool and family time around the fire pit. The view was amazing and our experience will live on forever. We’re already thinking about coming back soon. The home had rooms and doorways wide enough that my sister-in-law was able to come by and use her scoter in the home and at the pool so she was able to keep up and be apart of everything. We have been renting from Elks Springs Resorts for 7 years now and this was a VERY disappointing experience. This property is showing severe signs of wear because of the popularity and high usage. The cleaning and condition of the property are NOT worth the current price being charged. We had several issues during our 6 night stay with this property to include... *centipede infestation (they came and sprayed twice) *bathrooms were very dirty and not sanitary *one bathroom stool clogged *broken trim in basement bar *light bulbs burned out in kitchen *light fixture unassembled in one bedroom *not enough towels for 14 people *air filters in house are beyond clogged and need replaced (they look terrible) *several cabinet drawers in kitchen not working because of missing track(s) *all three propane tanks were empty *all three outdoor cooking units were grease traps and fire hazards. The grease is so built up on the deck floor that it is coming through the wood decking and onto the concrete below on the lower level. If this was a food service area an inspector would close it down. *leak under kitchen sink that we fixed to keep from having water damage. This is just a sampling of the items. Property location is AMAZING and in the right condition would be well worth the amount that is being charged. I would like to add that Louis with the Elk Springs was VERY responsive and did her best to help. I commend her service. There were 16 of us and we were all able to be in the kitchen together. 2 refrigerators and to ranges which worked out great. Sleeping arrangements also worked out well. However the king size bed in MB was so high no one was able to use it. We were all in our 70’s and 80’s so it was difficult. On the negative side the bathroom in the kitchen was very dirty including the toilet , baseboard and floor. We found an empty soft drink can in one of the bedroom closets and a dirty towel on the floor in one of the closets. Our fan in the kitchen was broke and all the windows were very dirty. We called maintainence and a gentleman named Cody came . He addressed all of our issues and was able to correct most of them. He fixed the fan, fixed a broken toilet paper holder, supplied us with necessary blankets(only 2 for 16 people);and linens for foldout couch. Pool was cloudy and he treated it. Cudos to him. Would not recommend!!!!!���� We were called at 1130a on Thursday-the morning of check in and told that the cabin had a leak so they moved us to another cabin. The other cabin was 45 min away from the original cabin and it would not be ready for us to check in until 6p. So my various family members that were coming from 4 different states, all had to ride around and waste 3 hours the first day of arrival. The next morning, we all had to pack up and be out of the cabin at 10a but our original cabin wasn’t ready for us to check in until 3p so again we all had to ride around for 5 hours wasting time with our cars full of luggage and groceries. We checked in at 3p and at 5p had to call maintenance because the refrigerator wasn’t cooling. They sent someone at 7p. He turned temp down and said fridge needed to stay shut in order to cool. We called again at 9p and someone came again and said the same thing. The next morning it was still not working. I called several times on Saturday to let them know that fridge was still not working and that gas tank for grill was empty even though we had been assured that a new tank had been put in for us prior to arrival. So 20 min into our cookout, the tank ran out of gas. No one ever called us back. I left about 10 messages asking for management to give me a call and that never happened either. Instead I received a text message after we checked out saying the were refunding $214 of the $4000 that we paid. There was not enough towels for the cabin capacity and barely any toilet paper. It was a horrible experience and I would NEVER stay here again!" We were in good company and had a great time. The term mansion though is not a term I would use to describe this house. The master on the main level was nice, but EXTREMELY outdated. The bedding (comforters, accent pillows) looked really old. The home needs to be updated! Upstairs flooring is uneven and you can hear every step taken in the room with 4 beds from the master bedroom. Half of the house was freezing cold while the other half was hot! The pool is not connected to the house, which made the walk back to the house a little uncomfortable in the early spring nights of march. The water pressure from the sink in the main kitchen was hit or miss, assuming you can’t have someone in the shower or the washer going if you want full pressure. The reports made to maintenance team were answered in a very timely manner, so thats a plus! However, the stay was great with a few inconveniences and not worth the amount of money we paid for an old, outdated house. Another plus, would be the paved road to the home vs gravel, driving up a mountain. I would recommend this home to a friend just for the pool, but again, not worth the money we paid for our stay!" When I posted the pictures from the cabin everyone was excited for me and wanted information on how to book. However when I got here I was a BIT disappointed. Different things that are on the website are no longer here. Like the beautiful different color lounge chairs on the patio in front of the pool house. The beautiful chair on the other side of the bed in the bedroom downstairs. The lamp by the bed doesn’t work or the socket. We had been taking bathes at first and decided to take a shower this morning and noticed hair of a different race in there. Not to mention the dirty sheets and pillowcases also on the decorative pillow cases weren’t clean. My disabled mother had a blood stain on her flat sheet that wouldn’t come off and had another sheet covering it up. So we had to flip the mattress. One of the room ceilings isn’t working then the other ceiling fan the maintenance man had to take apart to make it work. The water pressure in the main kitchen is very slow, the stoppers for the sink doesn’t work so we couldn’t manually wash the countless dishes that wasn’t clean. We are in a pandemic with the COVID 19 and this is Unacceptable I spent over 7 gran for this property and the conditions are not in living conditions. We had to come in and CLEAN AND SANITIZE EVERYTHING! When we should’ve been just focusing on Vacationing. Last but not least the gate or the gate remote doesn’t work to exit the property. I will be ashamed to recommend this beautiful property that’s showing on line but is horrible in person to anyone. We used a screw driver to repair 4 chairs. The microwave in the pool house did not work. There was a shortage of kitchen items in all the kitchens. From the 3 kitchens, we took enough items to make do, but still had to go buy several items. The windows are VERY drafty!! We had to go buy a heater for the master bedroom. The cleaning was horrible. There was spider webs around the toilet in the pool house, proving this area had not been cleaned. Also, when hunting for extra blankets, we pulled out a drawer in the master bedroom and found a moldy bath mat. The entire drawer was covered in mold. The house could be great, but it needs major updating. The pictures are not as the home is. Example, in the pictures online the jets are shooting in the air in the pool room. In person they were just bubbling and making a mess on the floor when we turned them on. I would not pay this amount of money again for the home." It was secluded, but close enough to grocery stores and gas stations. There was plenty of parking on site and the beds were super comfortable. Kitchen had plenty of seating for our group to have a big dinner together. The pool area was a great addition, and the Bluetooth speakers/TV worked well. Grills and smoker were not cleaned prior to arrival fire pit was also filled with ashes from previous guests. Requested them to be cleaned and fire pit emptied and was told it was taken care of while we were out. Apon return,none of it was cleaned. Propane tank was just hooked up and wood restocked. Screening around Basketball net was had many holes. My son lost his ball down the mountain the first day due to holes in the screning. Definitely needs a thorough inspection and work done to get this cabin back to great shape. Although the spouts for the pool did not work well. The cabin was dirty, dusty and run down. There were dead bugs everywhere in the basement. There was not a broom so we could not sweep them up. The dishwasher was broken, the beds were broken and dusty, several lights and fans did not work, there were hangers hanging from vents, shower heads were broken and water sprayed all on the floor, stains on furniture. We had to buy supplies and clean the bathrooms and kitchen. The grill was dirty. And to top it off, maintenace didn't come until 24 hours after I called and then left and never returned to fix the issues. When I called to talk a manager I got the run around for over a week. At night you could see the tiny towns light up from afar. We were sorrounded by mountains but the art stores were only a few minutes down the hill. The mansion needed a lot of work done however. Water was leaking in the entry way, and did not get fixed while there. There was not enough gas for the grill and wood for the bonfire. It was a hassle having to wait until more got dropped off. We had our meat ready to grill and lots of hungry kids. The hot tub was fixed twice while we where there because the water was ice cold. The downstairs bathroom was not working and they sent someone to fix it right away. The net for the basketball area had fallen down and they had to come fix it as well. Everything we encounter was fixed except for the leaking. I guess it would had just been nice to arrive and not have to encounter so many issues. We paid over $7000 for our stay so we expected a top notch place. The pool area was really awesome. Super nice, plenty of bar space. The place was super private and that was a huge plus. This one considering it is considered the mansion was a bit disappointing. First of all it is dated especially the bedrooms. We were delayed check in for almost 3 hours. The cabin shows pictures of a smoker it’s a good thing that we did not bring the brisket to cook there because there was no smoker. Those pictures need to be removed as that is definitely false advertising. The hot tub jets never worked we called for maintenance he came out and said it’s as good as it gets. For what this unit cost that is totally unacceptable. The kitchens were very poorly appointed especially with utensils and pots and pans. Overall cleanliness was not as good as it should have been. It met our needs but I would not stay here again. The view was very nice. The pool area was a highlight if only the hot tub had worked. I was unfortunately not impressed the moment we entered the home. You could immediately tell it is a much older property. The furniture was very worn; chairs that were weak, beds that were sunken in, and floors that felt as though they would cave in under your feet. The best part of the mansion was the pool house, which was exactly what I imagined from pictures. However, the projector did not work (we were not informed of this until check-in) so we were unable to watch movies while in the pool area. AND there were fire ants throughout the pool room. Several of us being bitten while in the pool and hot tub even. The worst of all is that this property is very expensive and I feel it is not worth the price tag AT ALL. Please take heed. The Wi-Fi worked in the main house, but not in the pool area, where we spent a lot of time. People had to use their data, which cost them money. It was finally fixed on our last day. Also, the jets on the hot tub were not working properly, and we noticed some debris in the tub not being filtered. Maintenance was notified, but were unable to fix the problem. Besides these two issues, we had a great time in the sprawling house and outdoor property. We had some issues that were addressed some of the things on the property are starting to have wear and tear on them some things were broken and just left like that. It was nice to see the 4 new beds in the big room but they are very high beds and for older women they were a problem to get up into with out steps they were also very close to the ceilings now. As far as the cleanliness it could have been better for the cleaning fees that you pay in your reservation, we had to cleanup bottle caps and peanut shells that were left all over in pool area and on steps and deck to the pools so know one would cut them solves also skin the pool out ourselves. I let them know in management they said they would note it.The gate to the pool was also broke they noted it and duck taped it.If you plan on staying for more then 3 days I suggest you call and have garbage picked up mid stay as there are only 4 small bins to place it in. As I said just a few things but overall Our stay was wonderful plenty of cooking areas 3 kitchens lots of refrigerators which comes in handy for partys of 18 for cooking and such. The gated property is peace of mine to all guest staying there. Again I had to contact the managment a few times and they were quick to send someone out to take care of the issues. The children never wanted to leave the indoor pool. The design of the pool is great for little people. The kitchen is well stocked. We enjoyed the panoramic views. We enjoyed cooking out and roasting marshmallows on the fire pit. The size of the house, having a pool table, poker table, etc. allowed for many independent gatherings going on at one time. I would advise everyone to read carefully the checking in inforamtion. We found out around 2:00PM we could not check in until 7:00PM. We had several hundred dollars worth of perishable foods, it was raining, and some of the family had flown in on a red eye. When I called the resort we were initally told 'I understanh how you feel". No you really don't and we were offended by the response. We were finally able to get in around 5:00PM to drop off the food. Two of the upstairs bedrooms have to share a bathroom. The poker room has an old odor. We called mainteance twice and the responses were quick. We apprecaited all the alarm systems in the pool/deck area. However, the alarm to one of he pool gates could not be repaired so the battery in that alarm was removed. The bedroom with the 4 king size beds needs extra rods, hooks or storage space in the bathrooms. I had called ahead to see what kind of laundry detergent was needed and told any kind would be ok. It requires HE laundry products. The house was clean but the master downstairs bath room closet doors were really dusty. We had also been told we could check out at 12:00PM but on the day of check out we had to leave by 11:00. Again an apology that an employee had given us erronous information. Despite a stressful start to our stay, everyone was able to relax and enjoy the grandure of the house and it's amenities. Knowig now what to expect we would stay there again. Want to have a family ’s available onsite as well. Play basketball onsite. Too hot? Go inside the main cabin and relax in the spacious rooms. We had an awesome time!! Our family enjoys preparing breakfast together. Double ovens, MWs, and fridges were so convenient. Could have used a few more mixing bowls (like Tupperware). But, overall, the kitchen was very well stocked with dishes, pots, and pans. A few more towels would be easier on guests as opposed to washing. But we didn’t mind. Not a big deal, however, the “driveway” to the cabin is a small narrow drive about 1/2 mile long. Only one way traffic (either direction) is capable at at time. No turn around points. I may have missed this info, however, this info should be included in information about the cabin. These are all things we worked around. We hope to visit again in the future. Directions were great and the mansion lived up to expectation. There are a few things that could use a little TLC, but we were still very satisfied. I do believe after reading some other posts that the chemicals in the hot tub need to be checked and monitored often. Several of our guests complained of skin irritation on their legs and one person has a chemical burn on their calf. Also everyone’s gold jewelry tarnished and had to be repolished. Other than that we had an awesome time and I had a wonderful 50th Birthday celebration. One other recommendation to the owners would be to upgrade the pots and pans to something larger and nicer. We had a little trouble trying to cook meals for a large group with the smaller sized pots. We are used to cooking in large magnalite pots but we improvised and made do. From the stains on the linens, to the filth gathered at the front door and through out the master bathroom floor, to no air conditioning for three days, to the water filter out in the fridge, lights out in the kitchen ceiling lights, to broken window panes, to backed up showers with globs of hair from other guests, to water pouring through the ceiling light in the entry way. I would not want to leave out the smell of a backed up full septic tank while trying to enjoy the deck. Last but certainly not least is the unprofessional manner in which the senior staff chose to handle the situation. Mountain View Mansion was first off...amazingly huge and had all the space we needed for our group(14). I have to say that the overall stay was great. The view was absolutely one of the best I've ever seen in my life! Pure serenity! The separate pool house with full kitchen was super fun and we found ourselves in there almost everyday having a pool party with and sometimes without the kids. So much space to chill, have family time, and alone time when needed. My only reason for the 3 for property cleanliness is because when we first walked in to go up the stairs, the first thing you notice was the painted backing of the steps were dirty.(like scuff marks/dirt marks) Not a good look for the first thing you see when walking in and the price paid. Then once upstairs to check the rooms..all were decent except one with a huge dried stain on the carpet! Last complaint would be us having to clear Cobb Webb's from a lot of places that were in common areas and kill a couple of huge spiders in common areas! We had little kids there and planned on letting them play hide and seek but opted out of that idea after finding 2 too many large spiders. I just feel like for the price the place could've been cleaner. Other than those few complaints....we still had an amazing time using the mansion. We made great memories that our families will never forget. I would still definitely recommend the property. It's simply beautiful...just need that little TLC before the next family stays there. We loved that we didn't have to go to an office before checking into our "mansion." Overall it was exactly as described.. even better in person! The pool room really makes it, without that I would never pay such a steep price. I must say though, I've been to Gatlinburg at least 8 times while growing up and I've never had a place with such a view in that area. This was completely remote, quiet, yet just 10 minutes to downtown. The place was furnished well and completely stocked, although the floors were a bit dirty when we first entered. We had some minor issues with the water in the upstairs bathrooms not working, and the pool table room's fridge/lights not working; however, we had a small group of just 6 so we never relayed this to management until just before we left. It didn't affect our trip at all. Main suggestion, please get a new projector in the pool room. We had 6 tech savvy young adults and none of us were able to get it working.. we shouldn't have to call for directions for something so simple. There are so many amenities you don't even need to leave the property. The pool area is to die for, and a few of us wanted to make the downstairs billiard area our own apartment. Each bedroom was very comfortable and the only complaint is that two bedrooms had to share a bathroom but we got over it quickly by playing games like cornhole and preparing wonderful meals on the array of grills provided. Everyone from the grandparents, the young adults to the toddler had a great time. Worth every penny!" The cabin is old but is furnished with quality furniture and amenities. The balcony looking onto the Mt. Leconte & smokies is unmatched family gathering and relaxing spot, while the pool, hot tub, outdoor basketball hoop give multiple fun options to hang around for family members of all ages. Well furnished kitchens with multiple grilling options means you don't have to leave the cabin if you do not want to. A grocery store is close by if you do need to stock up. All in all, it is a gem so I would recommend booking it if you can. Now, to be a useful review - I would try to think about the things that could be a damper for somebody spending big money on this cabin for their family, 1) If the weather does not permit being outside at all, you would lose a lot of the great outdoor space this cabin has - so that could be a consideration. 2) This one a has a lot of sleeping space - but there is a lot of variety with bedrooms so make sure you have guests who are pretty close and not too concerned about comparing bedrooms. 3) The only complain I have for the management is that the jets into the pool (shown in the pictures) never worked - even after a visit from the maintenance; not something that we really got unhappy about, but still would have been more fun for kids if they worked. There it is - I would book this cabin in a heartbeat again if I have the right people to be there and enough dough to spent. If you love mountains views and have the above two things covered - book it now!!! you would not be disappointed. Thank you." The home is everything you see in the photos and more. During our stay we did run into several issues. 1. When we arrive (about 2 hours) later the transformer blew and all the electricity went out. I immediately called the office and they were nice helpful and the power company arrived 30 minutes later and fixed the issue. 2. The next morning we checked the propane tanks to assure we would have enough to grill and all the tanks were empty. Again called the office and less than 30 minutes someone was outside replacing the tanks. 3. The hot tub would not get hot. Last time, we called the office again, and again they were there quickly and fixed the hot tub. You can't avoid things happening, but you can control how you respond to them. Elk Springs hands down was the best I have ever experienced. The home is breathe taking the views are priceless. We can't wait to book our next trip to this awesome place again soon! The maintenance guy was super helpful and fixed the issue quickly; it was just annoying to have the issues. A better projector should be installed. The property also lacked enough towels. There were only 2 per bathroom. When you have a pool house, you should have a closet full so it was a little annoying to have to do a load of towels every day too. And we had what looked like a ladybug massacre that had to be cleaned up when we arrived. Elk Springs did call us to warn us beforehand, which we thought was considerate. Also, the basketball was flat and two of our TVs were hanging off the walls. And one of our toilet paper holders actually fell off the wall when one of our guests tried to replace the TP. Overall, these issues were minor and will not deter us from bringing our family back to this beautiful property. We absolutely loved our stay, and our guests were thoroughly impressed as well. It would have been nice to have an instruction booklet left with the house (with wifi password and how to use projection/movie screen in pool). We did have one scary incident, however. Apparently, there was an issue with our gate, which was not closing, and we had two people approach us at the house, asking if they could see inside. We quickly sent them away, and once notified, customer service was very quick to send maintenance out to fix the gate. All in all, we had a great time and would definitely stay here again. The multiple kitchens had everything we needed and more than enough room in the refrigerators and freezers for all is our food and drinks. The kids (and big kids) never ran out of anything to do. There was more than enough room for all 12 people staying. Then there was the view! Oh that view! We have stayed in this area many times and this is by far the most stunning view we have ever seen and the sunsets are breathtaking. In a clear night you can reach out and touch the stars! The only thing that even came close to topping the mansion and all it had to offer was the customer service. All the staff at elk creek went above and beyond to accommodate all of our wedding chaos.
