He was so polite and professional I would hire him away to work at my business if I wasn’t 5 states away. The cabin itself is very dark and furniture is worn out. We could not get the video game to work as the directions indicated. Very centrally located to all the activities that we did." It was centrally located to all the primary areas we wanted to visit, hike and raft. The walkway lights were out and bulbs were not readily available for replacement leaving the primary entrance and walk way not well lit and where the bears visited due to the garbage placement. The furniture was well lived in with an odor in the main living room so we chose to use the dining furniture. Several of the cabinets were dirty or sticky. We had to purchase our own kitchen soap for our stay, along with extra TP and paper towel. The arcade system did not work during our visit. The grill was functioning but not well taken care of and would benefit from a deep clean or replacement. After 2 nights one of the frames of the bed broke, resulting in us having to move the mattress to the floor. The building management were responsive and assigned maintenance to us fairly quickly to fix. The overall stay was somewhat disappointing for what we spent due to some of the amenities or lack of." That being said I will have to say after seeing the other cabins I can tell you that this one was very dirty. The floors had never been cleaned the windows had never been cleaned. The door on the top porch was wide open when we arrived and by time we left the day before the lock stop working on the door so we couldn’t lock it if we left the house. I really don’t think I can blame this on the resort since I believe the rentals are owned individually but if this is so I would think twice about renting this one until the individual that owns it is willing to put a little more effort into the rental. Three floors, with no bathroom on main (2nd)floor. Suggested improvements: 1) put a keylock on bottom floor as well so you don't have to trudge up a dark incline at night to get into the house (and add path lights). 2) multiple deck boards with loose or exposed nails are a real danger. 3) add mini pool cue as the side walls prevent a real game of pool, 4) hot tub did not smell clean and sanitized, 5) dishwasher was broken all week, although a tech was dispatched for repair, but parts needed to be ordered." They only supply you only two days of toiletry items that's such a bummer for the expensive cost of a cabin. I loved the cabin and the space that we had for 10 people. The pool table was fun and the kids enjoyed playing it every night. The dryer was a little slow at drying clothes and had to be run several times to get the clothes dry. We tried and were on the phone for almost an hour. The lady we talked to tried to change the door code remotely but it wouldn't work. After the fourth of fifth code we finally got in. So with that being said, I would recommend changing the batteries in the locks more often. Other than that one major mishap we had a great stay!" It’s on an extreme steep hill with a house right next to it, so parking isn’t great. The fridge kept going out and eventually had to be replaced. Rooms were nice and beds were comfortable. Couches need severely updated, especially the pull out couch where the mattress is under an inch thick. There were crumbs in all the couch cushions. Porch is nice but needs some new screws. The king bed frame was very loose and with every movement it was super loud which made for a terrible night sleep. One of the patio doors did not want to open. They sent a qualified technician within a few hours to address an issue with the refrigerator, dropped off extra pillow cases, quickly scheduled an extra garbage pickup and made special arrangements to get us hangers. The cabin is roomy and comfortable. The location is good, far enough out of the touristy traffic but a close drive to all conveniences." We had a dog with us, which we cleaned up after every time! That is not the case with others...we found many places around the cabin where other animals had been. Also, big clumps of dog hair just outside the lower door as well as in many of the corners. The woods behind the cabin and the area around the cabin had lots of trash, metal stove parts, etc. Cabinet doors were greasy and sticky and were worn! Cooking utensils are cheap and really worthless! Knifes are old and not sharp, we tried to sharpen them to no avail. We had to ask for additional plates, glasses, and forks to just have enough for our group of 9. We enjoyed the hot tub and the fireplaces. Layout of cabin is good and had enough room for our family. We usually stay in Black Bear Falls and the grounds and cabins are kept meticulously clean. The staff did respond to our requests in a timely manner and we were able to check in around 1:30pm which was appreciated!" If I had to complain about anything it would be the bugs that crawl in, literally hundreds of some kind of caterpillar every single night, they did come out to spray our second night but it didn’t help at all. The weather stripping on the door sill was broken so I’m sure that doesn’t help in keeping them out. We did have a BBQ one night but the propane grill doesn’t work, only part of the grill heats up the other doesn’t. I would also suggest bringing more towels. Didn’t seem like there was enough for 12 people and the towels in the house are very small. Other than that we had a great stay and great time the entire week!" When we first arrived, the hot tub did not work. We were instructed to follow a YouTube video and we did. This did not solve the issue. A maintenance guy was quickly sent out to resolve the issue but by the time he got it up and running, it took forever to get up to temperature, and we only got to enjoy it the following night. The place is beautiful, the views are great, the neighboring cabins were quiet. It's not too far from a lot of amenities and in a really cute art village. Although the cabin was really clean, it was super dusty. The walls and ceiling fans were covered in dust. Just so happens that's my worst allergy so by day 2 and the trip home, I was miserably sick. If the hot tub had been tested and warm prior to arrival and the dust wasn't an issue, I would give it 5/5. Also worth noting the main floor has no bathroom at all, have to go up or down. Fine with us but might be an issue for someone with limited mobility. Two small issues though, one was a very dirty grill that we couldn't light due to the grease build up, however the maintenance man was extremely fast to get there and make it totally operational. Its not the problems but how the company responds that matter, and in this case it was exceptional. The maintenance guy also on his way out stopped at a cabin that was playing EXTREMELY loud rap music and had them turn it down to an appropriate level which was nice. The only 2 other things we would recommend to the management would be a bigger bear cage for trash, the 2 cans fill up FAST with the cabin at capacity. And definitely a picknick table on the porch is needed. And maybe some brighter lights in the cabin (LED maybe?) as they are fairly dim at night when inside playing cards etc. Otherwise the area and cabin is amazing, definitely a 9/10 rating!!! I would suggest if you have elderly folks or persons unsteady on their feet, you should enter the lower level. The stone walkway to the main entrance is very steep and uneven and a bit slick when wet. A fireplace is located on the main and lower levels. However, the lower level fireplace does not work. The upper level works with the turn of a timer. It really warmed up the room quickly! We loved it! The Wifi was excellent. The cabin location was awesome! Convenient to the Arts community, Gatlinburg was minutes away, and Pigeon Forge was easy to get to using backroads to best the traffic. We also appreciated that Elk Springs called us to see if everything was ok. And the cabin was ready early which worked out great as we were already in town. I had rented this 3 bedroom cabin for 2 nights and paid more than $1700 as it was peak season. The property has one bedroom with a Full Bunk Bed and a Sofa Bed in the Basement. There were 2 bedrooms in the 2nd floor. This means that half the group was supposed to sleep in the basement. Day 1: Now, the basement was infested with millipedes. The day i checked in my kids found a 10-20 millipedes crawling all over the basement living area, kids bedroom and toilet area. I called for help and a service technician came picked these up, sprayed generic cleaning fluid and went back. Within an hour we found 10-20 more. At this point the kids were not willing to sleep or use the toilet in the basement. After much persuation 2 of the kids used the upper bunk in the bunk bed and the rest had to squeeze with the parents in the 2nd floor bedrooms. We killed/squished the crawling millipedes as much as we could. The fridge was also not dispensing any water. The technician who came to fix the millipede issue checked and said he made adjustments to the cooling asjustment and it will start dispensing water and the temperature rises. It did not work at all. The grill on the patio was rusted so much that i gave up the plan to barbecue. Called the resort folks and they said they will send the technician next day morning. Day 2: In the morning no one came untill i called them again around noon to come fix the fridge and millipede issue. The technician came in the afternoon and after checking said the fridge cannot be fixed. We had to resort to completely bottled water for a party of 12. The technician apparrently cleaned up the squished millipedes, sprayed some chemical and left saying the millipedes wont return. Again by evening we saw more millipedes and the same saga continued with kids. My dog ate a few and almost got sick. After we were rebooked to another cabin,we asked to be compensated for the 5 hours we lost upon arrival trying to locate the property and the time we took trying to get out of the original location booked. One bike went down trying to negotiate some of the steep and narrow roads. We received nothing, very disappointed. It all worked out in the end and we actually extended our stay two additional days. This cabin, Majestic Views needs a little love and it also would be beautiful. The downstairs carpet had holes and stains, blinds were broken and wouldn't open/close and the wood floors in the kitchen area were badly scratched. The kids had a blast playing pool, using the hot tub, etc. The view from the third floor deck is absolutely gorgeous!! Plan to return to this resort but will make sure we stay in a newer cabin next time. Management, housekeeping, etc are fantastic!" The pros - the location is convenient and an easy drive. The place was large with enough bedrooms and two sitting areas on two different floors. The furnishings were in good shape. The drive up is not too steep and there was parking for 4 cars. The views are nice. This is a community, so some houses are close together, but there is not a house directly in front of this one. The community is nicely maintained. The cons - There is no first floor bathroom or bedroom. It is minimally appointed. Bring extra blankets and kitchen supplies - knives, skillet (the non-stick one was peeling), slow cooker, utensils, etc. Things looked decent, but were heavily worn. Most of the floor surfaces are wood, but the carpeted ones were stained and ripped. Many of the blinds were malfunctioning or ill-fitted to the windows. If you have babies/toddlers, our standard baby gates could not span the stairway to the lower level. The kitchen table is a tall one and could accommodate 8 chairs but only had 6. The chairs at the kitchen bar were too tall to work for the table, so our family could not eat around the table at the same time. We would have loved to see some Christmas decor in the house like last year's rental (promoted by another rental company.)" The only problem we had was we had asked if the cabin was handicapped accessible since my husband is in a wheelchair and can only walk short distances. We were assured this would work. Unfortunately there is no bathroom on the main floor so for the most part we were forced to stay in the basement ( ground level ) 90% of the time. Although it rained during our stay it didn't mess up our vacation at all because this cabin provided everything we needed even a hot tub. There were a few hiccups (dishwasher wouldn't drain and there was only one DVD player in the entire cabin and no closets to hang our clothes) but, those missing things won't keep us from not returning to stay there next year. And maybe to our surprise those things will be added or fixed. Nevertheless, this was a beautiful cabin and will definitely recommend it to our other friends who missed out on the wonderful experience. Also make sure you are not afraid of heights because the cabin sits high in the mountains, have an excellent vehicle to climb the mountains and aren't afraid of the dark because when nightfall comes you better have your night vision gear or some good headlights just in case you come upon Smokey the Bear ! We just spent 4 incredible days at one of their cabins and this was our second time using Elk Springs Resort for a cabin rental and again they did not disappoint. Their team of employees were so helpful during the booking process which is great to have because we have a lot of questions. My family, friends and I have stayed at several different cabins handled by other companies throughout the years but none of them compare to the quality you receive from an Elk Springs cabin. The cleanliness, the amenities, the updated equipment (i.e. appliances, cookware, furniture) and location is hands down the best I've ever seen. We make a trip at least once a year (sometimes twice) and we will always continue to go directly to Elk Springs Resort and will also highly recommend them to our friends and family. This was our fourth rental with Elk Springs and this was intended to be our biggest splurge yet and instead we were reminiscing to our friends that joined us about how nice the other cabins had been. We had a great time. The cabin was nice and accommodated all of us very well. The kitchen was well stocked (although poorly lit) and the bathrooms were clean. Next time we visit we will be sure to bring a few things that were not offered (or hope that they will be by the time we return): kitchen hot pad, a non-stick cooking pan and/or scrubbing pad, grill brush, and small wide-based cups for the younger kids.
