The location and most of the amineties were awesome. However, the cabin is listed under luxury and that comes with certain expectations. First the furniture on the main floor was the most uncomfortable things to sit on. The mattress on the top floor seemed to have been there since the early 1980s. The shower on the top floor is pretty and up to date but the water pressure was so poor it felt like a sprinkle instead of a rain, the seating in the theater is not comfortable nor modern therfore was not used. All of the tvs/DVD players were way to small for the space and barely viewable due to the blurry picture. The main living areas were very clean but the closets had a thick layer of dust in places. There is an open wire in the media room just laying in the floor, and the jets in the tubs needs to be cleaned. Finally my dad would have liked to have had a kruig." Check in was effortless and overall the cabin was very clean other than one pair of sheets having some hair (could’ve came from dryer so we didn’t make a big deal). The amenities were as expected with a nice theater room and pool table. The only issues we encountered was that the grills self igniter didn’t work so we had to use a lighter and we couldn’t get but one side of the jets on the hot tub to work. However the grill the was very clean and a nice thing to have and we still enjoyed the hot tub. There is a number to call for these things if they are an urgent matter that they can come fix but it wasn’t worth the hassle for our two nights. The beds are very firm mattresses which was not our preference but for a short stay was manageable but definitely would’ve hated it if we stayed longer. The beds also could use an additional blanket or heavier comforters. Downstairs stay very cold even we turned up the heat so plan ahead and bring extra warmer blankets especially if you’re a cold person. There was 3 fleece blankets in the cabin closets so we managed but wished we had more. Just a note that this would not be a cabin for someone who struggles to go up and down steps so make sure you read about the layout of the rooms and what levels they are on. This is our second stay at an Elk Springs Cabin and both times we’ve been happy and would stay again in the future. Who comes to the mountains and doesn't stay in a cabin. I hadn't been to either Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge before. It was much too commercialized for my liking, but most of the group loved the area. I just wanted to relax from my hectic job, so I spent most of my time in the cabin as it was beautiful, peaceful and comfortable. We had our reunion dinners and games there 4 out of the seven nights. It was big enough for people to visit without being on top of each other. The only issues we had were the grill and the door. The grill had not been cleaned, and the drip pan didn't stay in place. The electronic lock on the door broke twice. Maintenance came out quickly the first time. The other time was at departure, so I don't know the timeframe. If I ever were to go back to Gatlinburg, I would stay at Elks Springs for sure, although I would probably try another cabin because there are so many beautiful ones there. I informed the management via email, and they apologized and promised to deliver it, but it never arrived. In addition, the Wi-Fi was slow and unsecured, with the name of the cabin as the username and "elk resort" as the password. The lack of a password was a significant security concern, and I was told someone could come the next day to fix it, but since I was only staying for three days, this was not a satisfactory solution. If the staff had done a more thorough check of the cabin, including the guest's directions, these issues could have been avoided. Given the amount of money I paid and the poor experience, I have no intention of staying at the resort again or recommending it to others." We enjoyed the gas fireplace several times and loved the ease of it. The hot tub was in great working condition. But I wouldn't stay here again because the furniture was really uncomfortable. The first night I kept losing feeling in my thighs b/c the mattress was so FIRM! I "fixed it" by adding layers of blankets underneath so I could sleep through the night. The seats in the theatre rooms were also uncomfortable. We tried to fix it by propping up our backs and legs with pillows but you still wished the movie was *shorter.* The couch in the living room was also very shallow. I would have preferred a really loungeable couch in the living room with a BIGGER TV over the Theatre room. The furniture is old and dirty. The chairs sink down in if you sit in them. The arms of the chairs are filthy. The windows are all filthy. Rockers on the deck are all dirty. The beds and the bathrooms look clean. I feel like the cleaners came in and just did the very basics. The owners obviously do not care or how much pride in this place the pictures that are on the Elks Springs website are the same furniture back it definitely does not to pick the furniture now. The pictures are very deceiving and the place does not look like that now like they do in the pictures. We called the management company and they said they would send cleaners out. But cleaners cannot fix p.m. carpet smell was so strong we had to close the door put a towel at the crack of the door. The cleaners did come out and they wiped off the vent hood with a paper towel and took the food out of the sink I didn’t clean the sink. Then told the rental company we were packing up and leaving. Which we were not we were just wanting a clean cabin or to be moved or to get a discount. The rental company said they were going to refer us to the manager and have the manager call us. they never did never heard another word from them. They said they were going to find out about a discount we never heard anything about getting a discount. I have a feeling this property management company has the cleaners go in and just touch up between renters and they really do not ever intend I’m trying to make anything right they say they do but it never really happens. Overall it was a nice place in in a good location as far as close to town but off the beaten path. There are several homes in the same area so not exactly private. The furniture could use some much needed updates and the lowest floor was much colder then the two floors above it. So to warm it we had to turn the heat up which then made the two upper floors too hot. Cleanliness is always a concern and most of it was to my satisfaction, though we did find a used diaper in a window sill when we pulled back the curtain. That was disappointing to say the least. In all like I said a good experience and more than likely will book again when visiting Gatlinburg. The cabin has great amenities but is in need of a deep clean (dusting and such) rather than a quick clean between guests. Webs and spiders were all along the outside of home on all three floors filling many of the entry ways to the outsized decks. Had I known this were the case, I would have considered another rental. The pictures were relatively accurate; however, they missed the signs throughout the house reminding you if you broke or damaged an item, the price you will be charged is marked with the signs. I have never felt so uncomfortable in a house. Furniture was ok - our comforter had some stains & wear. Check out the excessive caulk job at the tubs. We visited the house with our 2 adult children and their husbands. Cooking was difficult at best due to the poor quality and quantity of the cookware, silverware, utensils. The appliances, while stainless finish, were all entry level builder grade. Basically, for about $500 they could have proper kitchen and other amenities that you would expect to be included at this price point. If you are driving - bring your own supplies. We did not use the hot tub, sauna, or the media room as there were so many posted prices of what damaging different things would cost if we did use it and something broke (a $30 DVD cost $250 to replace - really?) The seats costs $950 (think basic movie theater seats). Towels were another treat - think high school gym class or maybe Motel 6 – but cheaper. Getting to the property was interesting, the house sits on a hill, and the driveway is loose gravel with ruts. The next door neighbors Chevy SUV could not get up drive. We ended up leaving one car at bottom of drive too. Bottom line : If you don’t mind the constant reminder of signs, and plan on eating out, this is a decent house / cabin that will work for up to 6 people (one bunk bed set is in lower level); this house is fully functional, decent location to hiking / town / other attractions. I liked the fact, too, that it was away from the city, that it gave us that cabin feel throughout our stay. Since we are big on arts and crafts I appreciated the cabin being right in the middle of the Arts and Crafts community. On our first day there, the management gave us a courtesy call to assure that everything was fine. After spending our days taking in the Smokies, we looked forward to coming back and doing some relaxing. This was the perfect place to do it. We took advantage of the hot tub, home theater room, sauna, and pool table. Everything satisfied our needs although the home theater system may need a little upgrade to allow something more than just showing movies. All in all, I was very pleased with our cabin. We picked this cabin for the theatre room (which we were unable to use the first night due to some wiring issues that were fixed the 2nd day), and the hot tub, Jacuzzi's and sauna. The hot tub never got "hot" like it was supposed to be so we never used it. Tried one of the identical Jacuzzi's and found it dangerous to get in and out of (normally, a Jacuzzi has a handle near by for safety reasons), therefore, it was only used the one time. Tried to use the sauna and it also didn't get as hot as a sauna should. Overall, it was a nice place but the execution of the amenities was a fail." We had 6 guests total so it would have been nice to have a chair for each person to enjoy our nightly movies. I called to request an additional chair but one was never delivered. We made it work though...just be aware if this is important to you. 2. It's a true cabin and the walls (or floors rather) are very creaky so you can definitely hear others walking above you. It didn't bother us at all but just make note if this is important to you. We had an amazing time and would book with Elk Springs Lodge again in a heartbeat. Location was excellent to all Gatlinburg activities...best of both worlds, nice quiet relaxation at the cabin and all tourist activities you could want just a short 10 minute drive away. It was in a beautiful location with a gorgeous mountain view. Everything inside the cabin was clean, updated, and ready for our fun weekend. It had all the comforts of home. Unlike a regular hotel room with little space to move, all six of us lounged between three floors with more than enough room to spare. This was also my first time experiencing the virtual check-in and check-out. It was great to just arrive at the cabin and let ourselves in and when it was time to check-out, just call in and we were on our way back home. Management called to welcome us and checked on us during our stay. The cabin was easy to find and I was very happy to see that it was private, but there were other cabins around us in view. So we were not alone in the woods. Being six women, the best part of the trip was we were only a few minutes away from great shopping, museums, shows and food. It was an excellent trip. We are now in the process of planning a time our entire family can visit. I have recommended this resort to family and friends. An actual address to our cabin as opposed to the resort entrance would have been nice. We just kept pausing outside each cabin trying to find the name of our rental. The only problem worth noting was that the heating in the unit was very unbalanced. The basement bedroom was frigid, but the top floor bedroom was roasting. At the risk of sounding like Goldilocks, the main floor bedroom was just right. Bring extra blankets for the basement dwellers. There was a 15 degree difference between the basement at 63 and the top floor at 78 degrees. The views were spectacular and the cabin was comfortable. We loved having our Thanksgiving dinner overlooking the mountains. There are only 5 movie theater seats unlike the photo so we had to pull in a regular chair when we wanted to watch a movie together. If you plan on doing serious cooking, you probably will want to bring some of your own gadgets. The kitchen is appointed with the basics, but for example the biggest pot had no lid and there was only one dish that could go in the microwave. When we first arrived, we notified the main office right away that one of our toilets did not flush properly, and the hot tub was leaking. Repair persons came within a couple hours, but they both basically said there was nothing they could do right away and we would have to live with it. Living with a toilet that will not flush for four nights was not something I was really happy about. Also, not a big deal, but the middle drawer in the master bedroom dresser was missing. It just added to our impression that this was *not* a luxury cabin and details were not important to the staff. Finally, the TVs in every room seemed quite small for the spaces (except for the theater room of course). On the plus side, the beds were very comfortable, the location was convenient to Gatlinburg, and the cabin was generally clean. The showers were also awesome. Our kids enjoyed the pool table in the loft, but I would recommend a cabin with the pool table on the bottom floor. Every time they dropped a pool cue or a ball went off the table, it was extremely loud throughout the rest of the house. The kids also enjoyed the theater room. All in all, it was a nice cabin, but for the price, I expected much more. If we ever come back to the area, I will probably look for another resort. When we first arrived there was urine on the downstairs toilet seat and hair in the shower. In the daylight you could see dust and hair along all the corners and walls out to about 2" from the wall. It appears they only clean the main floors and not along the edges. There were white stains on 3 of the blankets and more hair on the comforter. (I am hoping it was just soap that didn't get rinsed off.) The washing machine only worked for 2 loads of clothes and then quit working and the dishwasher was the loudest one I had ever heard. I also wish we would have asked for a floor plan. With 2 children under 3 there is a lot of packing. The main living area is on the second floor so everything had to be carried up and down the stairs. It wasn't all negative though. The view was nice and it was a quiet stay. Overall if it had been clean we would have been okay with everything else. I would have mentioned these problems to management and I would have hoped they would have taken care of them.
