"Worst time Two bed was with no sheets, kitchen had no pots to cook in, the smell of the kitchen was the worst once we got it, it smelled like there was boiled eggs. There was a wolf at night tried to get in the cabin while the kids were playing upstairs we had to scare him off the kids didn’t sleep all night!! The hot tub was dirty with spiders all over!! We spent a lot of time in there laughing, playing games and eating. We utilized all the space. The movie room worked perfectly and we had no problems connecting our laptop. The only pieces of feedback I would give is that the kitchen sink leaked and I called and they came right over and the counch is a bit worn and could use an upgrade. We were away from people and out in the wilderness but close enough to town that we could go to either Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge with little to no problem. We had some problem with the home theater and never got to use it unfortunately oh, but they did send a service person in and I believe they got it fixed the next to the last day. There were several different remotes to the television and that was quite confusing to several of us. The air conditioner is set at a constant 70 degrees and if you were staying on the top floor it is very uncomfortable. That is one Chief complaint that I have that you cannot control the air yourself. If I'm renting a place I feel like I should be able to control the air conditioner myself, I am an adult. The water pressure was low in all of the showers. But overall it was a great vacation for my whole family! We had five children and six adults, couple of folks had to stay home but everyone had a great time. We had many different activities that we did at the house. It was a nice place for sure." Toilette would not stop running and 2 seats were missing/ broke in theater room and despite the fact that a "cleaning fee" is added to the cost there are strict instructions upon leaving to basically do everything for them. We did so in fear of getting charged extra due to the fact that they were too cheap to even replenish trash bags. House accommodates 14....hot tub is small and outdated. If they put as much attention into the cabins as they did posting signs about how much everything costs if you break it, the cabin would of been perfect. The cabin looked great from the outside. Walking in, everything looked fine although you could tell the floors had been worn down. We were disappointed to not have all of the kitchenware needed for our stay such as a tea pitcher or a can opener that worked (both the handheld and electric were not helpful). I was told there would be four benches around the dining table- there were only three though. This made meal times a little more confusing. It was hard cooking in the kitchen during the evening because the lighting was not good. I think several light bulbs should have been replaced before we came. All the rooms were very nice, but the basement was very cold throughout the day and especially in the night depending on the room. We were disappointed the that air hockey table did not work properly and the pool table was not straight. These items were one of the main reasons we rented this property so it was not exciting to find out they needed maintenance. Before leaving, we swept everything and made sure we followed the check out directions exactly, and it was clear to see when we cleaned that there was many areas of the house that had not been cleaned well before our arrival. I do not think we would stay here again for the amount we paid because of the lack of kitchenware and up to date maintenance. I also would not recommend this property because we were expecting more and were extremely disappointed. We rented this property expecting to spend a lot of time there relaxing and having fun, we did not expect to run into so many bumps during our stay that made even the simplest tasks harder. This chalet is all wood and the sounds of each floor seem to echo throughout the house. The sofa bed that is on the lower level in the sitting area is absolutely useless and should be replaced, the frame is bent at the bottom and the very thin mattress hangs out of it. I LOVED the higher end gas grill and used it every day, that was a huge plus for us. Remotes were missing to the tv in a couple places so we ended up using from another room. The location is fantastic, you are climbing up the mountain but you really dont mind the gradual climb. Chalet is situated beautifully for viewing the mountains and the trees all around. I suggested that the property consider a recycling location where people can drop off bottles, plastics, cardboard as these things take up a lot of garbage can space which is limited, and it also promotes healthy behavior to keep this beautiful part of our country beautiful. Overall, I would recommend the chalet and Elk Springs, but know going in it is NOT quiet if you have children!!" The website promises “new and up to date” cabins with flat screen TVs”. Fire in the Sky is not up to date and has only one one flat screen TV that needs to be replaced. The cabin is showing a lot of age and needs a lot of TLC. It has these maintenance issues: • All the mattresses are worn out – not new as promised. They offer no support. Very uncomfortable for older people and those of us who have back trouble. • The TVs are from the 90’s bought prior to digital signals making the images poor. They need to be updated to digital technology. • The website promises all flat screen TVs. We had one and it was awful. The remote won’t operate it properly and the screen has a big line that runs down the middle of the screen where the pixels are all dead making it hard to watch. • There is no cable TV in the Theater room.....BIG issue. We couldn’t watch football in the Theater room on the first Saturday of the college season. • The downstairs carpet is worn, dirty and needs to be replaced. It at least needs to be cleaned. • The bed in the pull out couch downstairs is broken and not useable. We needed it to accommodate our family but instead had to use a blow up bed. • The refrigerator will barely dispense any water giving only a trickle. It needs to be fixed to really be of much use. • The oven is missing the bottom element. Because of that it won’t heat properly and does not cook properly. We needed it to work to meet our family meal plan. The place just needs some TLC to meet your promise of “new and up to date.” We had a good time but these things were a big annoyance. This was disappointing considering the fact that both families traveling are self-employed and needed to get work done while away. We were pleased with the size of the cabin and thought it was well cleaned!! Any interaction with the staff of Elk Springs was great - very professional, kind and willing to answer any questions we had!! Our only other issue was that the cabin was for 14 people, yet the grill was so small and took way too long to cook dinner for a group of that size!!
