Then the next morning received winter weather warning for impending snow. This cabin was not located in a good area for ice and snow unless had 4-wheel drive, which we did not. We packed up and was out by check out time 10:00 a.m., so there less than 24 hours and lost our hard earned mone. After 3 days of being stuck inside and having to run to and from our car, I called and the resort moved us. After leaving I found out from a local cabin owner that a resident feeds them in that area so that’s why they come right up to that house and sit in the driveway . We lost 3 days of enjoyment due to these bears and the lady who feeds them. I find it hard to believe the resort is unaware of this problem. But I’m pleased they moved us so I am grateful for that. Lois was nice to deal with. Other than that, the cabins are nice. I just wish the units were vacuumed better as my dog found random pills and some other items on the carpet from previous renters. Smoky Mt Romance has a stove with one burner that doesn’t work and only 4 forks and 4 plates so you have to wash dishes constantly. The mattresses need replaced. It is nice that the deck has a gate. The property was in a great location that gave us an opportunity to really experience the Smokey Mountains" Apr 20, 2022 - Edgar R., South Bend, IN "Poorly maintained cabin with lack of concern by management Upon arriving at Smoky Mountain Romance, we immediately noticed that the only couch in the unit was trashed. Covered in a dried white sticky substance, multiple holes, some were patched others were fresh. Instead of moving us to a new unit, Maintanence spent hours our first night there attempting to remove the disgusting stains that covered the entire couch, making it impossible to use the unit that first night because the unit is small and there’s no where else to go in the cabin. I requested a new unit or a new couch and was told they were going to order a new one to replace it which should have been done a long time ago. The master bedroom is not as described, it’s actually in the loft space with the jacuzzi tub. The master bed mattress was so old, there were clearly defined crevices in the mattress showing years of where people have slept. I reached out to customer service multiple times regarding the condition of the cabin during our 1 week stay and was ignored after maintenance attempted to clean the couch. We left early because we could no longer tolerate the uncomfortable bed. After reaching out multiple times after we left, we were told they were replacing the couch and the bed but we were not entitled to any compensation for our discomfort because “we don’t give credits for the condition of our furniture”. I was eventually credited $150 (approximately 8%) of our total rental fee. For a “luxury cabin” rental, this was a disgrace. I expected rustic when I viewed the photos but this was just awful. The lamps, beams, fans etc had a thick layer of dust. The sheets looked very old. They had additional pillows which was nice but they had brown stains and no extra pillow cases. There is also a table outside out to left of cabin to sit on a warm sunny day and have lunch. Plenty of room to take my dog out. Cabin has a wooded view and also close to Gatlinburg and Food City. Perfect location for us. Easy to get in and out. Very quiet. Some houses across the road up to the right but you still feel secluded. And we enjoyed watching the Mama bear and her 4 Cubs every afternoon. It was a great cabin for the 2 of us and our dog. I recommend this cabin and will book it again when we go back. We had no problems and were very satisfied. We have rented from Elk Springs Resort several times and they are great to rent from. Looking at the location and condition when we first arrived we almost decided to just leave but we like the area and decided to stay. Big mistake, the third day of our 5 day reservation we noticed some small bites on arms and legs, areas not covered while sleeping, then more on day 4 and it continued on day 5. A little web research and comparison to our bites and determined they were bed bugs! I called the property manager to let them know and they said they would check. Well the phone rang and their bed expert found no signs of them. I asked for a copy of the report and was told that the expert was on vacation but when she returned I would get the report. Never did. It’s been three weeks and the bites are now just starting to disappear! So my suggestion would be to avoid this cabin and think twice about this particular property management group, unless you like insects dining on you while you sleep." They say the ac needs replacing and when my husband yes it does and maintenance knew it needed replace as the breaker had been turned off. They played as if they didn’t know and did. Then offered us a condo. Then said they could give us another cabin it was quite a bit further away. Without having any other information in the said cabin far away. We decided to stay. In doing so we had to stay gone all day as the temps tires reached 85 I. The day and it never go below the 80 in the cabin. My husband had to sleep with a towel to wipe off in the nite. Other than that the cabin was pretty clean. There were lots of other issues that came about with no ac...and one was that only two windows would even stay open on there own. The others had to be make shifted to have any air at all. But guess what, that’s not all. So the janky pool table with nail in it at the racking point, so close to walls you can’t even play. The darts again so close to the wall you can’t play correctly. These types of games need the space. But the hot tub worked...but who cares it was to hit for that! Not worth showing any pics I used one they sent. It was not the private secluded perfect get away for our 25 years of marriage. I can tell you I will not rerun to this place. Or Gatlinburg period. A huge Tourist TRAP! For what you pay, to have any problems with your stay is unacceptable. They even waited until check out time to send a message about where they wanted the **** the tub they say. We would say that describing this cabin as secluded, is all relative and in the eye of the beholder. The Tub inside is Huge, but the water heater is too small to be able to fill the tub with Hot water to go above the jets. If you don't mind a warm bath, then fill the tub away. The only things I would say I wish the cabin had was a motion light on the right side of the cabin where the ground was the flattest and easier to walk the dogs. I also thought that in order for a more pet friendly experience a fence on that side to provide some additional security from what might wonder up towards the house late at night. It would have helped ease my worry of something coming off the hill late at night. I would also suggest placing a light at the area at the bottom of the driveway where we had to park (car was too big to park by the cabin door) so that when you arrived late at night you felt like you had some light to guide you safely.
