The adjoining dining area with breakfast bar and full kitchen with cherry cabinetry includes upgraded stainless steel appliances and dishwasher as well as most of the cooking utensils, pots and pans you'll need. As soon as we entered 1/2 the lights in the kitchen were out, the ice maker was frozen and when you sat on the couch you sank to the floor. There was food on the floor from the last occupant and the cabinets were all greasy. There was dust on the furniture and they did not disclose we couldn’t use the fireplace. When we took the center mat off the dining table it stuck with all the old food that was under it. After a great trip to Abrams Falls we tried to use the jacuzzi finding dirt in the bottom of it, pieces of purple plastic floating in it and the aerators not working. When I used the out door grill I found the floor beneath it coated with a large pile of grease from previous uses. This was once a great cabin but its now rundown and ill kept. This trip in 2022 Nov was way different. There were things broken like the fridge, blood stains on our let out sofa, the beds and tables in every room was sticky with some sort of smudge, the rocking chairs were broken outside I nearly hurt myself, the Tv’s were so tiny compared to our previous trip with the same resort. All necessities as far as utensils, toiletries, and soaps were provided. The view was not as nice as i would of liked, the surround sound did not work. Sound came off projector which wasn’t loud at all. Sauna room was too big for heating unit. Heat was very minimum. Also the power went out about 2am. After a call to the service line power was restored within 20 minutes. I will say that was handled well. The biggest problem we had was the adjustment of heat and air. The bottom floor was freezing , the middle was good and the top floor was burning up. You could put some ac units in top floor. One room had no vent all on top floor. We had brought several box fans to help. Had a broken HDM1 chord for movie theatre when we arrived. It was repaired the next day. The maintenance staff was very prompt when called. The management office was very attentive and addressed matters immediately. Overall a very nice place to stay. One of the masters has a view from the shower with a rain shower head that’s a great experience. The cons of the cabin are that it has a gravel road that is very steep and in terrible shape. The handrail on all levels was rotting, one of the guest actually leaned against the hand rail and one of the spindles fell out. This could have been a lot worse if it would have been a child being that is was over 20’ off the ground. The cabin just seemed to be lacking in the general maintenance. We also had one other issue with worm like bugs all over the cabin. We complained once and they came out and sprayed and cleaned the worms up and the next day it was the same. I’m not talking about a few bugs I’m talking hundreds of them. So many that you had to wear shoes because avoiding stepping on them was impossible. We made the best of it after the bug guy said it was just that time of the year. We travel to Gatlinburg twice a year and always rent a cabin. This was the most expensive cabin we have ever stayed in and it had better views then we have ever had but with the bugs and the damage to the handrail it was hard to relax so we spent most of our time out of the cabin. The minor leak in the upper-level bathroom (our minor issue), continued any time there was a little water on the floor. It may be worthwhile to investigate further. Property management called first day to check on us and I told her about the problem and she said she would take care of it. Six days later upon leaving it was still the same. What I didn't like was the fact that the Grill was dirty. A tree blocked our view for the lovely mountains. There is a steep hill to get to the cabin which is a gravel road. Whenever anyone on the top floor got out of their bed, it would wake us on the main floor and if we on the second floor got up, we would wake the family below. No matter how we tiptoed, it was unavoidable. I hope the Company that built that cabin, did not build the others. I enjoyed the process of renting the cabin, but as far as the cabin, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, unless they would all stay on the same floor. The kitchen didn't even have pot holders and knives should be tossed and new ones purchased. We enjoyed the time as a family, but the squeaky floors made for sleepless nights. Ours has 4 children and the other had 5. "Almost Heaven" was perfect for these dynamics. It was large enough for everyone to have great accommodations. The bottom floor was fantastic for the kids. The games and space kept them entertained while we were at the cabin. Most importantly it gave the adults some decompression time from all of the daytime mountain activities. The following are not complaints but recommendations to enhance what was already a great experience. 1) The Master Bath with heart tub is located directly below where we had all the kids. With the bare floor above you can hear EVERYTHING. Even whispers can be heard. I would strongly recommend carpeting with thick padding as we felt like we drew the short stick staying in that room. The Sauna did not hit any heat level that made it worth using that was a disappointment. Being a high end cabin it would be nice for the movie room to have more modern equipment. We couldn't understand why there were no Blue Ray players (Which is what we brought) or any modern connections to use Apple TV PC or other devices. We had a few minor issues when we arrived with a shortage of linens but the staff was great and ran it right over to us! One note to folks that are used to VRBO's. This is corporate which means a great service delivered. But there is not that personal touch of a private rental meaning: don't expect literature of the area or the Pantry stocked with leftover items of previous vacationers or games, toys etc.. for the kiddo's Thanks for a great location to make camp while we fully enjoyed the great Gatlinburg area! We could hear every movement of the two girls in the bedroom above us. Every time they went to the bathroom, even opening a dresser drawer. I honestly thought someone was in our room in the middle of the night, but it was the sound from the bedroom above us. I would never recommend this home to anyone. Especially for over $400 per evening. It was clean (other than the grill), that was a plus, but I would imagine you can get a clean house for $100 per night.
