The cabin was clean and staff were responsive to our needs with good communication before our stay and during. The location is central to all you might want to do from the Gatlinburg strip to white water rafting and ziplining as well as the great Smokey Mountains. Under the pillow cases we found dirty, yellow from sweat pillows. One has spots of what appears to be blood stains, this is disgusting and unfortunate. On our second day while in the hot tub, two women pulled up in a Ford Explorer with trash bags on the roof from other cabins, they proceeded to empty them into the outdoor bins for our cabin. We asked that they not because we would have nowhere to put our trash. At first they said that’s what they do and it would be picked up later in the week leaving ours full despite the cabins around us being unoccupied. They changed their mind after we complained to them and removed the bags." Everything is about 15-20 min drive which isn't terrible. The cabin was pretty clean minus some of the dishes that had to be rewashed. I will say although I did enjoy my stay here there were some minor things that bugged me. like I mentioned the dishes had to be rewashed before using. The cabin was highly outdated compared to some other ones I have stayed in. An example of this are the TV's. No smart TV's in any of the rooms. The "theater area was also outdated and when I called customer service they tried to help but it wasn't much help so we were unable to use it (It could be due to user error but still customer service was not the best). The area is amazingly beautiful and the cabin suited our needs. There were 8 adults and we had room to spread out and have privacy if needed. We did have to purchase toilet paper and trash bags the first day we were there, which is not a huge issue, but our normal experience was to have a 2-3 day supply before having to replace these things. The upstairs TV would not work for us (due to a connectivity issue), the pool table is in poor shape, and the air hockey table has the wrong size puck (impossible to keep the puck on the table, and yes, we know how to play air hockey). All in all, these were not game changers for us as we didn't intend to play pool and air hockey the whole time, but it would have been nice to have the entertainment area in great working order when we did try and utilize the amenities, especially for the price you pay at this specific time of year. The kitchen was well stocked with the normal kitchen necessities you would need for your home away from home experience. Overall good experience." Sheets in one bedroom did not appear to have been recently washed or had dirt from washer/dryer still on them. I understand this is a pet friendly cabin but for the price we hoped for more attention to detail when it came to cleaning of obvious dirt/food on floors. The cabin was not properly cleaned prior to our arrival. The floors were dirty, as in, dirt and other debris sticking to our feet dirty (this was primarily in the bedrooms). We also found food still stuck to the counters and bar area, a used wash rag was found hanging on the shower rod, several long hairs (abnormal amounts) were found in the shower stuck to the walls,, and the beds had dirt and hair on the sheets. After contacting Elk Springs, housekeeping came out and switched out the sheets after our first night. We cleaned most of the other issues, but did notify Elk Springs about them. They offered to clean up the missed areas, but we declined as we were on a busy schedule and did not want to wait around for someone to show up and clean the cabin. The appliances have also seen better days. The dryer would not initially work, but after contacting Elk Springs, they sent out a maintenance tech and he fixed the issue fairly quickly. The hot tub was low on water, the water smelt bad(not typical chemical smell), and debris was floating in the water. I will say that the customer service portion of their business did a good job, but whomever is contracted out or hired to clean the cabins, should be reviewed. Overall, outside of the cleanliness issues, the cabin was just ok. Due to the cleanliness issues and with the shear number of properties available to rent in the area, I cannot say we would return. And they always are. But this cabin is mediocre at best. It appears to be older. The toilet seats are all scratched up. Floors are scratched up. The heating is definitely a problem. In order for the bedrooms to be warm, you have to heat the living room up super hot. Very uncomfortable. One of the bedrooms, you can’t walk on both sides of the bed. So one person has to crawl over the other person to get in and out of bed. I did have dirty dishes in the cabinet and the cleaning lady left the rag she cleaned with, wet and balled up on the counter upon arrival. The beds are super hard. To get to the cabin, the roads are very winding and the whole vehicle would get sick every time we drove it. I have honestly never had anything negative to say about one of their cabins before. Description matches property, including accessories. Parking space in front of this cabin can park 4 vehicles (we have 3 small SUVs and 1 pickup) without problem. During the stay, we contacted Elksprings for garbage collection, open door (kids played it and locked accidentally) and dishwasher leaking (our mistake), they always reply promptly and send staff shortly. Some Kids love the hot tub; others enjoyed the home theater system and air hockey. I would say this company has won my trust. Before selecting this cabin and Elkspring, I searched other more renowned cabin agents, they charged a lot of fees and had discrepancies between virtual pictures and actual stuff. Something that I recommend to improve is better cleaned kitchen (some cabinets’ doors are sticky and oily). Quits and blankets are kind of old. They are not cotton fabric, there were Flannel fabric and must be regularly changed. Also this cabin had way too many bugs everywhere. It’s understood that cabins being in wood bug cannot be controlled completely but we have never seen these many at at property where you are spending over $450/night. We stayed in February for 4 days, 3 nights with 10 people. The pre-booking process was a bit confusing but after reading the multiple-page packet several times over, we were good to go. BE SURE TO READ YOUR PACKET!! The cabin was beautiful but do not expect it to be super quiet outside as it is a resort and you are close to other cabins. Inside, we did not hear any neighbors. We did not have any issues with the neighbors noise level (just know that you can hear them) as we were there to have fun and relax. I will say though, there was some kind of construction that was going on until about 10pm one of the nights which was fairly disruptive to us. We had an issue with one of the beds being broken but maintenance showed up within hours and had it fixed almost immediately. Also, if you plan on doing a lot of cooking (we did) be sure to bring your own baking pans and tupperware for storage as the cabin does not have much in that way. We had to go out and buy a bunch of disposables. Cabin is close to downtown Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge so they make for excellent day trips. Plus plenty of hiking in the Smoky Mountains!! Overall, we had a wonderful time. The cabin was incredibly beautiful and the water is hot. The hot tub was very relaxing! Upon arriving at the cabin, we found that the floors were extremely sticky and there were some lightbulbs missing. There was not a corkscrew (we were somewhat surprised about this). There were no paper towels provided either. I emailed our contact and advised them of the dirty floors and paper towels and was assured they would have someone out the next day to clean - which they did. The floors were still somewhat sticky, but not nearly as bad as they were. A staff member stopped by and brought us paper towels and was extremely apologetic - she was very professional and told us to call or email her if we needed anything else. The cabin, I felt was, not nearly as nice as the one we reserved originally - we probably won’t go back. Customer service was top notch though. To be honest, the fact that your staff was not understanding of how we were mislead was a disappointment. Having to pay $300.00 extra was a HUGE disappointment. I will not be staying with Elk Springs again. The cabin was not worth the $300.00. The beds were old and creaky, and the mattresses were extremely hard. My husband and I could not sleep and moved in the middle of the night to find another bed. We ended up sleeping on the top bunk of the bunk bed since it was the best out of the 4 beds downstairs. You have a big screen tv but no dvds for us to play on it. the air hokey table is old and our pucks kept getting stuck. We found roaches in the bathrooms. The kitchen wasn't stocked with the necessary utensils for cooking or having drinks. (no bottle opener) To be perfectly honest, the only part we really enjoyed of Southern Comfort was the pool table and the jacuzzi. The rest of the cabin was a disappointment especially after having to pay an extra $300.00. I will not be coming back to Elk Springs or recommending Elk Springs to anyone in the future. I'm just overall very disappointed with our entire experience." The cabin was awesome, clean, and comfortable. For a pet friendly cabin, it was very well maintained. We needed maintenance to come over twice in our stay. I had blown a fuse using a hairdryer. They took care of the problem immediately. Just minutes away from Downtown Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. We went to both and had a great time. Loved the outdoors, ziplinning, hiking, and horseback riding. Will definitely come again to this cabin rental. Negative...temperature control was a little difficult to do inside the cabin (the basement rooms would get really cold) and I did not know that we had to call to have our trash picked up (it would be better if this would be automatically scheduled). We loved the separate decks, location, porch swing, and rocking chairs. By far, our favorite attraction was Ripley's Aquarium and spent hours enjoying all the ocean wildlife that was there, holding horse-shoe crabs, touching the jellyfish, and the sting rays was amazing! Although it was a pet friendly cabin, which we are grateful and only rent pet friendly cabins. The condition of this cabin and lack of updates had nothing to do with it being pet friendly. We usually spend 3 or 4 times a year in rentals in the Smokies. Very easy to recognize their cabin owners who still take pride in their cabin. The upstairs large screen tv room is not very useful for a tv watching area because of lack of seating, same goes for the main downstairs main common area. There was plenty of extra room for another couch in the upstairs and downstairs. Tv''s in all bedrooms rooms needs to be updated. The cabin appeared to be visually clean until our family members were all walking around in sock feet, which proved to be a very dirty wood floors. Overall we had a great stay but the price of the cabin did not measure up to the pictures and condition of the cabin. We normally stay at Starrcrest Resort and unfortunately I would have to say this cabin fell way short on cleanliness,maintaining up dated look and price. Way to pricey for this cabin. Also this cabin has no views, which we were okay. Pricing, condition and lack of updating makes this cabin not on my list of repeats. Pros- Great location, great floor plan and great size kitchen. Plenty of deck space but need more rocking chairs. Enjoyed our stay. Thanks again for being pet friendly and remember we pay extra for cleaning. FYI- Children, teenagers and most adults are less clean than pets, so proper cleaning after those customers are just as important, if not more important..
