Not far from Gatlinburg and about 30 minutes from pigeon forge. The beds are very comfy, plenty of room for your whole family to stretch out or hang together ! The only things I would change extra heater in bottom floor( we did everything they suggested but was still very cold) nicer bath towels and a different shower head or glass doors on shower upstairs very hard to keep all the water off the floor !" Take blankets, the lowest level gets cold. Follow the instructions on the fridge, close the upstairs vents to make the lowest level warmer. The fireplace on mid level heats up real nice. Always latch the trash bin cage, had to clean that mess up early in the morning. There's plenty of dishes for all meals. Take extra dish towels and rags, there's only one or two. Take extra bath towels, 10 was not enough for all those people plus hot tub towels. Been with these cabins 9 years, always love them." Some areas didn't have Wifi at all. We had Verizon & T-Mobile phones which didn't have cellular service and WiFi calling was spotty also and not able to FaceTime. There are landlines phones provided. Our first day out the digital keypad didn't work to lock the door had to call maintenance which put us 2 hrs behind schedule. Two days later on next outing it didn't work again and had to wait an hr again. Tried cooking a Thanksgiving dinner, however the oven did not work properly. It would not heat at set temp took a few hrs before we realized this & had to set on 500° to reach a temp of about 350° which several dishes to bake dinner was finally done at 9pm. Lastly the grill was not cleaned. We used aluminum foil to BBQ. Thought it was a propane grill and was missing the tank but when maintenance came out on day 2 was informed it was a gas line grill. This was my 3rd time staying at Elks Springs Resort and in the past, the cabins have been nothing short of breathtaking and amazing. While this lodge was ok aesthetically from the outside the inside could have been better. For starters, the place was not clean at all. There was trash left in the window sill in the bathroom, dirt in the shower, trash underneath the pullout couch on the 3rd level. The pullout couch was not fit to sleep on as it wasn't leveled. My sister found a used razor in her bathroom upstairs and there were two used washcloths left behind. There were no dishcloths or oven mittens in the cabin. I mentioned this to the agent and she was appalled herself and agreed that it wasn't their style. The walls seemed paper-thin and you could hear all movements whenever someone walked across the room. Even if the person was on the 3rd floor you could hear it clearly on the bottom floor. The stairs squeaked so badly whenever you walked up and down them we had to have a curfew for when people could walk up and down them (we didn't but should have :). I don't recall having that issue with any of the multiple level cabins we rented in the past. We were still able to have fun being together and enjoying Tennessee. Not sure if there was a mistake and the cabin was marked clean when it really wasn't. I hope this isn't the new norm for Elks Spring because that would be disappointing. It was about a 15 minute drive to Gatlinburg attractions. When at the cabin it felt very secluded. The adults sit out on the patio or in the living room at night while the men grilled out. If you didn't hear the noise you would have never know the kids were in the house. They absolutely loved the game room and only came down to eat. Most of the time they didn't want to leave the house to actually go and do stuff. Would recommend this to any large family wanting to relax and have a good time. The only things that I would suggest for the owners: 1. A few of the stairs need to be replaced (one step has a piece of loose wood and another had a crack through the middle). 2. The grill could be replaced. It took forever to get it lit and the bottom of the grill is starting to rust out." The bedrooms were very comfortable and the furniture was very unique. Everyone enjoyed the theater room and the game room, however the game room needed maintenance on the pool cues, and ball pockets. The property should have been cleaner especially because we had a crawling baby and the wood floors were very dirty. The house was also very noisy because of all the wood floors, squeaky doors and stairs. We did call for maintenance on a missing electrical plate in living room and couldn't lock the front door. We had ten guests staying for 6 days. Why skimp on trash bags(3), toilet paper(1) etc. This did not reflect the cost we were paying per night, after all, we were not camping! We would recommend this lodge to a friend if they understood the short comings. Because there is no pool on the site, we would highly recommend the Gatlinburg community center where there was a large indoor pool, basketball courts,bowling alleys and racquetball courts. The beds should have a mattress cover over that plastic. It's very uncomfortable with just a sheet. The hottub stunk like dirty laundry left in the washer. The sofa cushions kept slipping out every time we sat down - probably because they sit on a piece of plywood versus a fabric cover. Uncomfortable at best. We slept in the main floor which was very comfortable but two of the others said their beds were very uncomfortable and they woke up with back aches, especially the one on the top floor. The linens need to be replaced with new ones. Towels, sheets and wash cloths were pretty worn. The mattress in the upstairs bedroom was in very poor condition. TV's in some of the bedrooms were not "connected" to the system and would not receive the signal for programs. HVAC system did not work well with this cabin. Outside temperatures were moderate so not a big issue for us but even with the good weather the cabin was comfortable on all floors. If the main floor was comfortable then the upstairs hot and lower level cold. Previous guests made the same comments in the guest book. I assume this was due to one unit servicing all three levels of living spaces. The Elks Springs management called to check on us after check in and were available but we did not ask for any changes during our stay. It was a Holiday Weekend and nothing needed to be done immediately. These comments, if followed thru on, would make a nice cabin much more enjoyable for future guests. The biggest complaint I have was we didn't get our cabin code to get into the cabin until I called several times and spoke with Lois and she finally gave me the code over the phone.(spoke with Lois several times with cabin issues)This was our 2nd time at Elk Springs and was a little disappointed in the customer service. Lois told me that they were doing a final run thru to the cabin 2 hours before 3pm so we waited with groceries in car right outside the cabin since it was such a nice day and no one ever came thru to do a final walk thru while we waited for 2 hours. The cabin was ready but not sure why we couldn't get in earlier if the cabin in ready especially when you are paying such a large amount of $ for the cabin in the first place. Of course, they expect you out by 10am otherwise there is a charge of $100 per/hr after that time. The first time I called Lois said she didn't have the code to give me over the phone until the cabin was ready but was able to give it to me after 3, this make no sense to me at all. The cabin was overall pretty clean with a few things minor things that could have been wiped and cleaned a little better. We had an issue with outlets in ALL 4 bathrooms that didn't work. One bedroom outlet downstairs had not power which wasn't a big deal but would have been nice to have working with everyone trying to power electronic devices. Called several times & maintenance came out. While maintenance was out we had a leakage in the top floor shower, which maintenance informed us that has happened in the past and told us to put towels down for now when showering so we did and that seemed to work. Overall, our family had a good time at the cabin and going out to Gatlinburg, the kids were able to do zip line, drove ATV/AV's, horse back riding. We made wonderful memories in Gatlinburg. However, the owners of the home need to restock the kitchen with some upgraded utensils. The kitchen was stocked with 5 wine glasses, no glassware other than some 16oz. tumblers. No salad bowl or salad tossers. The posts and pans were not safe to use as the teflon coating had been scratched off most of the pans. The size of pans were inadequate. I would highly recommend asking when the last time the kitchen was restocked before renting this home or any home at the Elksprings resort. Management was superb in responding to the needs as best as possible but not able to supply all that this home needs. That is the "owners" responsibility. There is absolutely no spices, salt or pepper. No saran wrap or aluminum foil. There is only one roll of toilet paper per bathroom. All in all a few extra daily needs would be advised. The family room does not have enough furniture to sit but 5 people. This is a big home that can sleep up to 12 people but the kitchen and furniture does not accommodate that number. The beds and pillows were fantastic. THE ONLY WAY I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS HOME IS IF IT WAS ADEQUATELY STOCKED." After we had already booked, we found out that this resort has breed specific. We were very upset to learn that our sweet German Shepherd was not allowed in the cabins here. I'm sure this has something to do with the insurance the resort has but it was still disappointing none the less. If any dog is welcome, they should all be. Our dog is a part of our family, he is our baby. Despite this setback we packed up and left a member of the family behind. We got our call that our cabin was ready ahead of schedule, which was awesome! When we arrived everything was extremely clean, very luxurious, and spacious. (We had 11 people in our group). The cabin certainly exceeded all of our expectations. Everyone had a great time and wished we could stay longer. Others in our group have pitbulls and they are also not allowed. We would have stayed a week instead of 2 nights if we were able to bring our furry families with us too. Hopefully this will change. Other than the upsetting dog issue, everything was wonderful and we can definitely see why they are #1 on trip advisor. The next morning I called back & spoke to a manger who apologized & said my complaint that maintenance never showed was the second one she had gotten that morning & she was sending someone. That information should have been given to me prior to arriving or included in the welcome binder for the cabin. I don't know if this is typical of the area but the house just smells musty. The bedding looks like something from the 80s and I'm not sure it's been freshly laundered since. It's quite a drive from Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. If you like seclusion and don't plan to leave much then maybe this place is for you. It just wasn't for us. We stayed one night, packed up and went to the new Margaritaville Island Hotel that just opened last week. As it was most of our things were spread out on the floor. Not really a big deal, but certainly would enhance the experience.
