We were a small group of middle-aged women just looking for a relaxing yet different experience. It was peaceful and quiet and the scenery was beautiful. I wish that the cabin was a little cleaner and that we had some of the basic start necessities to clean, like dish soap or the dishwasher detergent that was outlined in the instructions. Also, we weren't given instructions on how to leave or clean towels as I have experienced in other Airbnbs. I would still recommend Elk Springs if you are looking for the quiet and peace of nature." The light bulbs that where not burned out where the yellow dim ones so at night it was hard to see when doing a puzzle,playing cards and cooking .The air hockey table didn't work that well. The felt on the pool table was tornand worn out amalso the rack was broken.Both fold out beds leanded to one side.The stopper in jacuzzi tub was broken,they had a stopper to use that didn't hold the water. The cabin was mostly clean but there was broken glasses on the basement patio that I cleaned up myself. The power went out while we where there and maintenance can in a short amount of time to fix the fridge that stopped working and leaked but did not bother to clean the water out of the freezer and left the puddle to freeze. We couldnt use the toilets, showers, or Drink water, we kept running out of bottled water and had to flush the toilets with bottled water only in emergencies, which means we had to hold it in most of the trip, and we had two children with us and it was 9 of us total. The 25th maintenance was supposed to arrive around 1 (i understand it was christmas) but they never showed up, or let us know they wouldnt show up, they came to bring us more water after we asked for more cause all stores were out. I told the owner and they said maintenance wouldnt be there till the 26th which was our check out date. None of us felt comfortable after the first day, i understand these things happen but as cabin owners or renters they should know the situations that could arise and be prepared for them. We paid almost $2,000 for this cabin that we did not get to enjoy or be comfortable in at all. This was our first family vacation ever and it was ruined honestly. We called and texted the office with no reply. Finally at 4:30 they gave us the code to get in. The cabin was GREAT and perfect for our family, but we also ran out of basic supplies. They gave us ONE trash bag for a weekend. When I inquired about more trash bags, I was told that it was in one of the emails that they only provide 1 trash bag. When I asked if they could bring me another trash bag, the answer was "no". While the cabin was great, the customer service left a lot to be desired." The bottom floor was freezing so their solution was to close the vents in the rest of the cabin to heat the bottom floor (so we had to be chilly to warm up the couple downstairs). The hot water heater went out and could not be fixed. They “claim” no other cabin was available for us to move to, resulting in our entire days activities to be canceled because no one could shower. Upon checkout customer service was horrible. I emailed and texted for someone to call me so we can discuss the matter and they would not contact me. I called and when I was queued the phone call was always disconnect. They sent me an email on what they felt was a solution and that was it. 6 adults were inconvenienced and there was no compromise. We had to cancel multiple reservations and stay inside of the cabin. I would NEVER utilize Elk Springs Resort again. I know the cabin owners cannot be aware of how they operate. The cabin was great with plenty of room for our family. The location was great, just fair out enough to be away from the "noise", but a quick trip to Gatlinburg if we needed something or if we planned a day there. I had to have cleaning come out twice to vacuum up the carpets as they were not suitable for our toddler to crawl on and find all the leftover pieces. It did not look like the furniture had been moved to be swept under in a while. The general cleaning (counter surfaces, toilets, sinks, general sweeping) appeared to have been completed, but the cabin did not appear to have been deep cleaned in some time. This is my second stay with Elk Springs with the first experience being perfect. I have stayed in another cabin with another resort and it was not the quality of Elk Springs. I would still recommend Elk Springs and hope that the cleanliness of this cabin is a one off. I would give THIS cabin and THIS experience 3.5 if possible." Staff was great, making sure everything was to our liking once we checked in. Buckwild is in a great location, not too far from all of the attractions, but secluded enough to give you that mountain cabin experience while still in a safe resort area. The farthest we had to drive was about 40 minutes to whitewater rafting. Downtown Gatlinburg is about 12 minutes and Pigeon Forge about 20, grocery store about 10. The place was very clean and better than the pictures. All of the Tv's are upgraded from the pictures with flat screens in all bedrooms, along with a bigger flat screen in the corner by the pool table. Flat screen on the loft with an air hockey table. My kids and I loved the arcade game and the 8 foot theater screen on the lower level. Comfortably accommodated 7 (My wife and I, My 2 girls, My Mom and My In-Laws). The hot tub at night was awesome! There is a lot more space in the rooms than the pictures show. If I had 1 complaint (which is very minor) it is that the directions that they give you are kind of confusing. We were coming from St. Louis and got lost, they tell you not to follow your GPS once you get off 40 because it may get lost on some of the roads. But I decided to eventually just follow my GPS on my iPhone and it took me right to the resort. Also, used it the entire time there and it worked every time. I would just put in your destination before you leave the Cabin just in case you lose service. Check-in was easy as they just give you a code for the door which is obviously reset for every guest. Beds were very comfortable. Jacuzzi tub was awesome, as my 8 year old would get in and look like she was in a mini hot tub because it is so big. Bring your firestick, roku or google chrome as you can use it on the theater screen while relaxing after a long day. Bathrooms are very big. Overall, just a great place to stay!!!" The representative shared some information with us that we were not aware of (distances of cabins from downtown Gatlinburg, how secluded they were, etc.). We were happy with our final decision. We had one issue upon check-in that was no fault of the resort. We contacted a customer service representative and they responded within a couple hours and fixed the problem. We were then contacted to make sure that everything was to our satisfaction. There were ample emails from the resort with confirmations, instructions and directions to the cabin. This is my 3rd time visiting Gatlinburg, but my family's 1st. I've tried different cabin rental companies each stay, and Elk Springs by far, is the best I've had. Our cabin was "Buckwild", and it was perfect for us. The layout was great, and everyone had their own comfortable space. Very clean, beautiful views, and the staff was VERY courteous, making sure we had all we needed, and that we were comfortable. Great job! I look forward to utilizing Elk Springs on future trips!!" Feb 12, 2017 - , Detroit, MI "Nice Cabin No Hot Water in Master Bathroom I took a small birthday trip for myself and two other couples. Upon arrival the cabin was beautiful but there was a dirty towel left on the bed in the bedroom on the common area floor. We enjoyed the cabin sat around and talked all night when it was time to take a shower we discovered the shower on the first floor did not have hot water. I called maintenance immediately and the representative assured me that a maintenance personnel would be out first thing in the morning which was understandable since it was about 2:00am. The maintenance did not get there until after 12:00pm and then had to shut the water off to the whole cabin and when we returned there was still no hot water. I called maintenance again they showed up around 11:00pm and I told them we had already bombarded someone else’s space to take a shower and they could come back tomorrow after check out since we were leaving in the morning anyhow. I got a call on my way home saying that we declined maintenance to the cabin and my call for hot water was not on file from Friday and they didn’t have a maintenance man on file being at our cabin at on day Saturday really!!!!!! A representative called me Saturday morning and I explained the situation which I believe is the only reason the maintenance man showed up to begin with and then never fixed the problem. Upon first arrival at the cabin at approximately 3:15 p.m. we still did not have a code to get in the door. Several attempts was made to contact elk Springs Resort and someone finally contacted me back and gave me the code. She stated that things were running a little due to the housekeeper's did not have any linen. So the beds were not made when we got there. As we entered the cabin to inspect it,it was not like the pictures the sofas are really worn there were no adequate pots and pans we had to call to get it delivered in which they only bought us 2 pots. We got in the bed on the lower level and it collapsed. We were not able to get in touch with maintenance that night so we had to sleep on the sofa bed which was horrible. This is not a luxury cabin at all. I was very disappointed. Do not believe everything that is posted on this website as per the reviews of this cabin. Buckwild was not a good experience!" The place was gorgeous, comfortable, and cozy. The fireplaces were just what the doctor ordered after coming out of the jacuzzi or enjoying the fresh crisp air early in the morning or late in the afternoon. There was an issue with the fireplace (or perhaps we didn't know how to work it) but maintenance responded within 20 minutes. The layout of the house was perfect, giving everyone enough privacy but not so much space that you feel seperated or disconnected. How dare I not mention the neighborhood and community. The neighbors and folks in town were AWESOME!!! They were all so welcoming and helpful. We were so close to everything- shops, galleries, shopping, outdoor activities,and etc.! Oh yeah, dont forget to go moonshine tasting!!!! Nothing but great memories and fun times at this place. We will return in January!" There is room for improvement: 1) the cabin was very clean on the inside when we checked in, but the property on the outside had trash around the cabin that was ignored. 2) the DVD player for the theatre room was very poor quality and the DVDs we rented kept freezing up to the point we had to use the small TV and DVD player upstairs. 3) the pool table was not level, so the balls would roll to one side. 4) the arcade game required service immediately upon checking in, however the management service was very prompt. These are all relatively minor, however they were things the kids really looked forward to at night after busy days hiking and rafting, but we kept discovering issues. I liked the cabin however there were a few minor issues like the tv downstairs by the pool table didnt work, leaving only the dvd player as an option to play. If you didnt bring a movie, then you wouldnt have any tv service besides in the bedroom. Also the couches are a little worn out on the entry level and definetly on the bottom level. The one on the bottom level pillows sunk in really bad due to use. Other than that, the cabin was clean and the grounds were very clean. Enjoyed my experience and will definetly come back." We had a blast playing pool and video arcade games, and just sitting around the fire place "chillaxing". The only real disappointment was that the big TV was not equipped with cable. We were getting really excited about watching UK play basketball while we were there, but ended up having to watch it on a smaller tv upstairs. There are just a few maintenance issues that should probably be addressed... the toilet in the main floor bathroom tends to run, we kept having to jiggle the handle. Also, the auto lighter on the grill did not work and we had a hard time getting the thing lit; putting a long lighter in the kitchen might be nice. Other than that, the place was clean, comfortable and cozy. We would definitely stay here again." For us sugar maple is better because it's closer to pigeon forge than elk springs is and we enjoy the restaurants and outlets. The cabin is beautiful, it has 3 levels and the fireplaces are awesome. It was really too big for just the two of us but it was all that was open,it would be perfect for a big family gathering. The appliances were great, the cookware was great, no complains about ANY of that. My few suggestions would be that the couches definitely need replaced. They are incredibly flat and uncomfortable. And also the TVs in the bedroom I think should be upgraded for the price of this cabin, they could put some inexpensive flat screens in there not these little TVs from the 90s. Also as a warning to anyone from places like WV, VA, northern US etc that is used to snow do NOT go to Gatlinburg if there is snow in the forecast. Our vacation was ruined because of 3 little flimsy inches of snow. All the restaurants, all the outlets, EVERYTHING. It was like they had never seen snow before which is crazy, it's the SMOKY MOUNTAINS!! So if you're looking for a winter vacation go somewhere that isn't scared of 1-3 inches of snow because it will ruin your time to not be able to do anything, eat, or even get groceries. Also, the customer service here was excellent. We got lost several times trying to find the cabin because we usually stay in PF and the front desk guy, I think Daniel is his name is extremely helpful." I would recommend more closet space in the cabin as the first level did not have a closet at all and more dresser space as their was not a dress or chest in two of the bedrooms.
