Not to mention we wanted to watch football and found TVs the size of a little kids tv and a blurry screen you could barely see. This cabin was very outdated and needs updated majorly. I was eventually able to download an app on my phone which allowed me to log into roku and use the remote through my app. (Thankfully) Moving on to the spare bedroom, (which my mother stayed in) there was no remote for the TV in this room either. One of the two things we were wanting for our cabin was a pool table and a hot tub. The hot tub was great. However, there were no pool sticks that were able to be used. (I'm not a skilled pool player and I'm not familiar with what a "good" pool stick is.)However, none of the pool sticks even had tips on them. They were all bent like someone had chewed the end of them or there were no tips at all. Oh, and when i pulled out the bed in the futon/couch, there were red stains all over the sheets attached. The televisions were tiny- the size of a computer screen. The home was otherwise clean and in a good location- they are building two homes next door, so plan on early morning construction noise!" They started construction at 8:30am and ended around 6:30pm every day! No one mentioned there would be construction happening or I wouldn’t have rented that particular cabin. This is probably why there is not a lamp on the nightstand, it was then that we noticed the entire wall was covered in dust. I took a flashlight to most of the walls and it was the same throughout. Vacuuming of the throw rugs clearly hasn't taken place in a while. The destroyed and rotted cornhole boards left on the back deck were an eyesore. I don't have words for the windows. It doesn’t appear that anyone cleaned our cabin before we got there. Luckily, we brought our own cleaning supplies and took care of the cleaning ourselves. We were completely grossed out by the 50 plus dead worms/Rollie pollie’s behind the bed in the second guest room. We were afraid to even look behind the bed in the master bedroom. The ceiling leaked all over the mattress in the guest bedroom the first night. We were unable to use that bedroom. Maintenance came around 2 am and just changed the covers. Another maintenance guy came the next morning, and he was extremely nice and empathetic to the situation. He was awesome! However, the ceiling started to leaks again the next day. We just went to the sleeper sofa in the living room again, as we were over it by that point. Was looking to come back in November. However, we most likely won’t use Elk Springs again. Also, the TVs were a joke. We did not get to utilize them as they were about 12-15 inches. They didn’t even show full screen. My work computer monitors are larger than the tv’s in this cabin. We did get a chuckle out of it though. We understand that unforeseen circumstances can happen, so this review has nothing to do with the leak. It’s solely based off how disgusting the cabin was when we arrived. My skin is crawling as I write this review, thinking back to all of those dead worms we seen behind the bed. Despite the issues with not being able to use the second bedroom most of the trip, no one has even reached out to me to apologize for the inconvenience. There is space for one next to the fridge that we put our bins there, but it would have been easier to have shelves put up in that spot to have some organization. The TVs are small and no access to streaming services. It would have been helpful for the information binder to be catered to the individual cabin. There were some general instructions that made it hard to figure a few things out, but after some time we managed. The couches could use some updating as the leather is starting to wear. The vacation rental was clean and a starter of basic supplies was provided as described and communicated. One downside, the master bedroom does not have a dresser. That was inconvenient since we stayed for one week. We contacted the rental company and were advised that the room has many amenities and therefore there is no room for a dresser. In addition, the master bedroom only has a nightstand on one side of the bed and no lamp on the nightstand. It would have been nice to read in bed without having to have the room light on. The TVs in the master bedroom and the second bedroom are very small but the size of the TVs is listed in the description. Overall, we had a good experience. The drive up the mountain was so scary we only did it once. You drive 7 miles up a narrow winding mountain with high hills that you can not see over. We literally only did that once on the way there. The hot tub was nice, except when we went to get in it the second time, the water level was down below the jets. We had maintenance come out and he refilled it, but it wouldn't be warm until hours later so we never got to get in it again before we left. He was thinking it may have a leak and put in a service call, which didn't help us, as we were leaving the next day. We recommended that the cleaning crew be a little more detailed, as some of the dishes under the cabinet were not totally cleaned and we had to wash before using. Day time maintenance came back, said he didn't know the issue, but to call back if it does it again. Fast forward to Wednesday, sitting at the dining table, and water starts pouring on me. We get a bowl and towels to catch the water leaking from the ceiling. Daytime maintenance came, and I was very displeased with his attitude. He called us a jinks for the cabin, no issues were going on until we got there, he couldn't figure out the refrigerator leak that happened the first night we got there, and he said he couldn't put someone on the roof at night. Understandable, but he just put his shoes on to leave because he informed me, he only had 9 minutes left on the clock. I caught him at the door to ask what I needed to do incase the ceiling leaked again, his response was, "more towels and a bigger bucket." He shut the door and left. Nighttime maintenance came a few minutes after, and changed two light bulbs that were out, and gave us extra linens to catch water from the leak. The next morning, another maintenance man came, he stated that he notes from the other two workers were all over the place and made no sense. He told us he would try to get a roofer to work on the leak, and the refrigerator problem was most likely a clogged drain. We were pleased with our stay until we had to continuously call maintenance. It wasn't as relaxing when you are worried about your belongings getting wet, or when maintenance is going to show up. This part was extremely frustrating when we had videos of leaks, and one specific maintenance man only had 9 minutes left. His attitude was NOT enjoyable, pleasing, or helpful. I realize that construction has to be done, but it would have been helpful if the property management would have warned us ahead of time so we could have selected another cabin or location. Secondly I realize it's in the mountains and rodents tend to get in but there were a lot of rodent feces on all the dished in the lower cabinets as well as the floor. Only con was the comforters in each room seemed dusty and there was no broom to be found only a dust pan. There is a washer/dryer though! So no biggy.
