It was far enough away from everything to be private and cozy, but close enough that we could take a beautiful drive through the mountains or shop, eat and play in Gatlinburg or even drive into Pigeon Forge! However, this cabin needs a throughout cleaning. There is dust on different items that has been there awhile, esp. on wall hangings and the fire place screen. The windows need to be cleaned. There is mold in the bathroom on the walls next to the shower. There is mold and dust on the cealing next to the cealing vent in the same bathroom. The shower curtain needs to be laundered. The furniture piece in the downstairs bathroom needs to be dusted on all sides, not just the front. There are splatter stains on the light bar above the bathroom vanity, as well as splatter stains on the clock next to the pool table and other pictures in the cabin that had glass fronts. The floor in the bathroom and laundry room looked clean but was sticky. You need to get a cleaning crew in there that will turn the place inside out and dust and clean the cabin throughly. Then do this once or twice a year. Then a regular cleaning crew can come in between quest stays and just do the obvious cleaning items; kitchen, baths, sheets, towels etc. I hope you will take my recommendations seriously. Except for these issues my husband and I really enjoyed our stay and would like to come again in the future. The staff was wonderful in the reservation process and answering questions after we arrived. We loved the cabin location and the view." We honeymooned here and stayed in the Mountain Glory Cabin. The cabin is relatively private, however no one was staying in the cabins across from us. They were being built still I think. View and hot tub was probably the best thing about this cabin. Also, hot tub is different than the pictures. Cabin needs cleaning! Baseboards, ceiling, surfaces need a serious dusting. Cobb webs and dust bunnies everywhere. Windows super dirty, need to be windexed. The large window showing the mountain view should be highter, and needs a curtain so the sun doesn't wake you at 6am. We found two wasps inside the cabin also. Glad husband was not stung as he is highly allergic. The fireplace didn't work. Called for service, and fireplace was fixed very quick. So the service was nice. Will not be staying in an Elk Sring Resort Cabin again. Too expensive, and the place was not worth the money. We have another cabin in Gatlinburg that we stayed in last year and we will most likely stay in that cabin from now on as it's cheaper, and cleaner. They were all over the floor and rug in front of the bed. We immediately called to see what could be done. We were told there were no other cabins and someone would be there shortly to spray and take care of the ants. We waited an hour and decided to go to the local grocery store since it was getting late. When we returned the ants were cleaned up. However the next day the couch and floor was covered with them. Luckily we brought a can of Lysol and sprayed around the bed and it kept them away. We ended up buying ant traps to catch them the best we could and kept all of our clothes in our suitcases so we wouldn’t take them home with us. Also it would have been nice to know that three other cabins were being built right next to our cabin. The road is extremely narrow and it made it difficult to get out at times but the contractors were very nice about moving vehicles out of the way so we could get through. The jacuzzi tub in the loft was useless because the hot water would run out before the tub would get a quarter of the way full. Half the outlets did not work, Wi-Fi did not work for us, and the bed was very uncomfortable and was noisy with any slight movement. We did not get much rest here unfortunately. The couch, pillows, bedspread, everything pictured in the advertisement was EXACTLY the same; either these items are at least 10-15 years old or they have suffered from guests use. The couch was worn and smelled like wet dog. We used a blanket from our truck to spread out and use while on the couch. The pillows were set on the floor as they weren’t the cleanest. The furniture is all scraped up, dented, etc. The “decor” is out of date & makes no sense. The windows have V-shaped curtains that only serve to block the view when sitting inside. The stools under the island are too tall and neither of us could eat in the kitchen unless we stood. The T.V. upstairs didn’t get any channels. There was a wifi connection, but we weren’t permitted to stream Netflix, Hulu, etc. There was 1 roll of toilet paper left in each bathroom, which we expected. We did not expect to be left the cheapest, thinnest, (tissue paper) toilet paper ever made. NO tissues. The toilets are SO SMALL it’s comical & both lean to the left. The “master bath” is smaller than a closet. I’m 5’8” and I couldn’t shut the door while I used the toilet. My boyfriend is 6’2” so that’s where the comical aspect comes into play. We didn’t bother with the jacuzzi tub. Both knobs were so loose & had a sweet spot in order work. The shower rod downstairs was all rusted. The “hot” and “cold” was reversed! When they say there’s nothing there...there’s NOTHING there. No salt and pepper, no cleaning product of ANY kind(no container of Lysol wipes, no bottle of a cleaning spray, nothing) no foil, no napkins, etc. Each trash can came with a bag inside and ONE additional bag under. Maintenance was contacted and attempted to clesn, but after a handful of attempts, the tub was unusable. The fireplace also did not work. Maintenance attempted a repair, but was unsuccessful. The main picture window that overlooks the mountains is extremely dirty, enough to affect the view in sunlight. So multiple amenities were either unusable or hindered greatly. Blinds are broken, curtain rods hanging, barstools to high to even sit at the bar. Lighting all around the cabin is poorly placed or insufficient. Communication with property management was all over the place. Cleaning was sent when maintenance was requested. Multiple calls with each person not aware of the previous conversations, had to explain what was actually going on each time. I had high hopes, and I think it could be a great experience, but a lot is needed to get the place in proper order. Bugs on the floors and on window sills, dusty, shower curtain was disgusting and stunk. My next instinct was to smell the sheets...they smelled unclean to say the least - to the point i had to contact Elk Springs to at least get fresh sheets, there was no way i could have slept on those. Elk Springs did send someone out a few hours later - while contacting me they were very short and to the point (no sorries). The overall feel of this cabin was just dreary. NOT luxury at all and we feel we did not get our money’s worth. The only plus was the convenient location. This cabin needs a lot of work and whoever “cleans” this cabin should get a job doing something else. It was quite clear they did absolutely nothing to clean it before we arrived. My husband said it best...’This feels like someone’s old camp that gets used once a year, not a luxury cabin by any stretch!’ Do better Elk Springs!! Overall the cabin on first glance looks clean, but after settling in we noticed that this place is in desperate need of a DEEP clean and some furniture needs replacing. Issues: 1) Downstairs bathroom tile is extremely dirty, entire floor is not mopped and as a result there are layers of dirt. Grout is black instead of original light gray color. 2) Bed needs replacing. Sprints are very noisy any time someone moves (sits or turns over) when sleeping. To the point it kept both myself and husband awake at night. We were glad to only be staying 2 nights. 3) 2 out of the 3 chairs at kitchen counter in dining area are too high for counter. This makes it impossible for an adult to sit at counter. Since this is the only eating/table area this is a huge problem. Even if you want to just sit and play cards or a board game, you have to stand. 4) The amount of dead bugs in the upstairs light fixture, also shows that cleaners are only doing bear minimum. 5) Other examples of bear min cleaning are the stains on the green pillow shams, stains on cloth covering pool table and the amount of crumbs and dirt on pool table (it needs a good vacuuming), vent over stove is very dirty and kitchen sink has brown stains which could easily be removed with some scrubbing and stainless steel cleaner. Overall I would say that cleaners just do quick job to wash bathroom fixtures, leave new towels and change sheets. With the world having to deal with COVID I would expect rental places to be more diligent and thorough with cleaning. I know that AirBnb introduced new cleaning protocols (as I have my own rental) and this place would not pass (IMO). Gave overall rating of 3 due to location (view was awesome) and nice layout of cabin, overwise rating would have been lower. I called about 5 minuets after it had gone out and to my surprise the office had already reached out to the power company and new all about the issue. My only criticism was the hot tub was cod when we arrived and was unable to use it the first day. It takes about 10 hours to heat up to 100 degrees. If we didn’t turn it on as soon as we got there we may not have been able to use it for two days. Not a huge deal, but after a long drive we were really looking forward to it. We explained what we seen and were told we could not be refunded or assigned to another cabin until maintenance arrived and verified. Which he did almost 1.5 hours later and we already packed up and left the cabin. He was in there for 2 minutes and said "Oh my, now that has been there for a long long time and this is serious"... NO ****! How did this go unnoticed for so long??? We were offered to another cabin only to use for one day and then move to another cabin for the following day. So we took our PARTIAL Refund and paid $250 more at another cabin company to utilize for the rest of our vacation. I do not recommend this place as the rerouting of calls and having to call multiple times to reach someone who was at home with no office for us to go to and speak to someone directly. Thanksgiving evening we were going to enjoy the hot tub but instead had to call maintenance because the temp on the hot tub wouldn't increase, advised they would contact a vendor to come out on Friday and would give us a call, still waiting for that call, last was the soaking tub upstairs, all the jets were facing upwards ( not something we would normally look at prior to) and it soaked the area and the water never got hot, so it was like being in a pool. This trip was during Thanksgiving and has to be one of the worse that we have experienced with lodging after all this was advertised as a luxury cabin and we have stayed in other luxury cabins and there was no comparison. Luckily the temperature warmed back up the next few days and the heat worked properly. The fire place was messed up from day one, it needs a new timer installed. I was able to light it myself most the time. This should have been fixed immediately. The maintenance team should have timer's in stock ready to switch them out and they should have spare fire places in stock also. The drive way is a little weary backing down. I was afraid to park on it during freezing nights. A bumper at the end of the driveway would be nice to give customers a peaceful nights sleep knowing there care will not roll off the mountain. Also, guard rails of some sort even wood at a lower cost to install would benefit the backing in part with much more comfort. The jaccuzi was nice but the hot water would run out before it could be filled. A larger hot water heater would benefit a nicer stay. No alarm system had me up some nights checking doors often, couldn't sleep some nights for fear of break ins. Even a simple system would make the stay more pleasant. Adding a dinning hall to the resort would draw more people in. We prepared meals in the cabin and ate out some. I understand that would take some cost and then ya'll would have to change your strategy to an all inclusive resort, along with amenities for kids etc... Maybe add some packages to the guests by teaming up with local business. Coupons etc... and shows etc..."
