The large boiler pot had something burned in the bottom and was unusable, even after trying to scrape the burned substance out. Had to purchase a set of pots and pans to cook with. We were in town when I got the call and checked it as soon as we returned to the cabin and it still would not heat up. It was late so we waited and called the next morning to report that it still was not working and they sent someone else out to look at it and it was determined that it could not be fixed. I reached out to Elk Springs to let them know that we were disappointed that we were never able to use the hot tub as this was something everyone was looking forward to and the only thing they said was we would get a 10% discount on our next stay because we would be a returning guest. Our party all felt as if they should have given us some money back due to the inconvenience of the service men coming in and out our entire stay and not having a functioning hot tub. Upon arrival, we noticed a few things out of order. The hot tub on the 3rd level balcony was overfilled by the cleaning company. There was about an inch of water all around the hot tub. It was leaking through the deck boards down to the lower level balcony. Also, the ice maker and water dispenser from the main refrigerator was out of order. Maintenance was notified and promptly responded. The cleared the water but was unable to fix the refrigerator. I was told that a previous guest or the cleaning crew left the freezer open and it caused the line to freeze. We would have to leave all of our newly bought groceries out to let it defrost. We opted to go with the water/ice dispenser for the week. The property management was quick to respond to my requests. It was disgusting. The theatre had a DVD player and an HDMI cord for your own device hookup. Who buys/rents DVDs anymore? We have plenty of firesticks and roku devices we could have brought if we knew. We tried hooking up a Nintendo Switch but the wifi connection was so weak (it was unsecured even though they gave a password, it wasn’t needed) it just kept buffering. The home theater is on the top floor, there is no cable connection only a DVD player. The Wi-Fi signal is basically non-existent up on the top floor so either bring a DVD, download a movie before you go or the theater is useless. The property is advertised as advertised as 8 minutes from Gatlinburg, it is more like 20 minutes with no traffic! The view in the pics is misleading. The floor plan was great and the kids really enjoyed the game area and movie theater but I must warn you if you want to cook for a large group this rental is extremely poorly equipped to do so. Huge disappointment. Whoever is responsible for inventory is asleep on the job. Broken utensils, Teflon pots peeling. Not enough pots and pans to make meals. No plastic cups (kids, hello?, hot tub hello??). The floors need a serious cleaning. And not with the dirty swifter mop by the washer and dryer. I probably would give this property another try if they got their kitchen up to par. We rent a house so we don’t have to go out to eat and when I can’t even make and prepare a breakfast for our tribe that’s a huge disappointment. Pros: Overall the cabin is very beautiful and only 10-15 minutes from a grocery store which is convenient. The hosts were very responsive via text when we had issues and the technicians that they sent out to fix issues always came in a timely manner. It was helpful that the kitchen was stocked with dishes/pots/pans/utensils. It was also nice that in addition to the kitchen table, there are built-in benches in the kitchen with room for storage underneath. Cons: If you want quiet/privacy, this is not a good choice for you. This cabin is very close to a number of other cabins and we could hear people partying all hours of the day/night when we were outside on any of our decks. The biggest negative for me was how unclean some of the areas were in this cabin. More than 4 or 5 dishes were dirty when I removed them from the cabinet and I had to immediately wash them (they were sticky, wet, and had food residue in them). There were also so many (huge) spider webs all over the corners of the doors and light fixtures on the deck that we had to clean off. When we arrived to our cabin, we opened up the mini fridge and water spilled out everywhere. It had not received maintenance in quite some time (the technician agreed with us) and it was frozen over but some of it had melted which caused a mess. We had to use towels to clean it up but since there are not extra towels provided, we had to call for a technician to bring us more towels to replace the ones we used since using the towels was out of our control. The poker table and many other common area tables were also dirty (with food debris and dust) so we had to clean those off before use as well. Parking is also not great - you can really only fit 5 cars comfortably in the parallel position, so I probably wouldn't plan to bring more cars than that. It was also beautiful--3 floors of knotty pine amazing game room on the 3rd floor with a movie theater (!!!), pool, air hockey. Kids loved it. They also had a big outdoor jacuzzi. The location was great--about 10 minutes into Gatlinburg. The rental company was also so great. I called for a last minute weekend rental on the way down...they emailed me properties, booked me over the phone, and called to make sure we had good directions to get there. They even called the next morning to make sure we'd gotten in. I will definitely be back." They do however need new air hockey paddle things; I would also highly recommend they add rugs to the upstairs game room. It is INCREDIBLY loud w/ games and all wood walls/floors. I would also recommend a set of plastic cups and dishes, certainly we aren't the only tenants with kids. Overall though I still highly recommend Misty Moutain and Elk Springs. They do a great job."
