There are 3 levels for this cabin, the master is upstairs, the main living quarters are on the second floor and the bunk bed, game room, hot tub, etc is on the bottom floor. The bottom floor is where our boys spent most of their time, along with where they slept. Unfortunately, there isn’t any heat down there. I called maintenance, they brought a tiny space heater the next day. The first night they slept in the absolute cold, the second night they brought the space heater that wasn’t efficient enough to warm the downstairs, it remained cold. Now, as a suggestion for future guest, after you take your trash out, try to contact Elk Spring Maintenance team, they are the best by the way!, but contact them to pick up the trash, just in case you dont want to have scare jumps at night or in the mornings with a Bear poking at the trash site! hehe. And last but not least, the Jacuzzi that's outside, it's on a spot that could be dangerous at nights. Why? Well if a Bear goes to poke/smell at the Trash he is just steps away to access that Area, it will be good to add some kind of wooden fence or something that will block the access to the 1st floor where the Jacuzzi is located( or right behind the entry stairs). Besides this scares that we had with the Bears, the cabin and everything it's a must! 100% recommended!" Luckily we had great weather and a great place to stay. Blackjack fit our needs completely. There was plenty of room and the house was well stocked for our stay. The location is close to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. The house was clean and in good condition. The internet was good enough to use streaming services which is a big plus. The only thing that could be better is that the bottom floor could have better climate control. The only time we used the lower level was when we went to the hot tub that was hot and clean. I would not recommend using that road as it is nearly impassable. Upon arriving, the cabin was easily accessible, had ample parking and smelled wonderfully clean. Everything was in working order. We had to do a slight adjustment to the float on the commode on the main level because it ran all night the first night. We did let staff know about this. Beds were comfy and kitchen well stocked with whatever we needed. Our group of 10 from age 7-72 had a wonderful family retreat here. Location is great as it is only 10 mins to Gatlinburg/20-25 from Pigeon Forge, and close to Food City. Our favorite place at the cabin was the huge wrap around porch. It felt like we were in a tree house. Would highly recommend! Only down side is there’s no pool at this resort or any cabin. You can hear everything between the floor levels including the two king rooms which are above and below each other. D.J., the maintenance person was beyond helpful. We have vacationed in the Smokies for 20 years and never stayed at the same cabin twice, mostly because we want to vary our experience but there have been a few Agencies/resorts we won’t return to. Elk Springs is not one of them, we are actually interested in seeing what resort amenities they have in the works. We saw construction during our stay but as of yet, no clubhouse/pool/gym/courts, etc;. Blackjack was spacious and clean, had a gorgeous wrap around deck with a quality grill and glass stone gas fire pit. The deck could use a power washing. We enjoyed the theatre size TV screen but I wouldn’t describe the set up as a theatre room and there was a glitch that reset the system when people were walking upstairs just above the unit. We loved the huge sectional sofa but not the master bed with scratchy sheets that required a step stool to get into it. The hot tub was the largest and nicest one we’ve seen, loved it! Just be advised it’s on the ground level and there is a black bear that frequents the resort at dusk walking up the hill checking the cages for trash cans to see if they’re locked. We love bears but I was a bit unsettled with no barrier on the ground level between him and I other than a picnic table. The pool table was nice but on a small loft with no room to take a shot without hitting a wall. There’s plenty to love about Blackjack(especially it’s location to Gatlinburg)and Elk springs was not notified of any of our concerns because they were mostly cabin owners issues and not simple fixes. I’m certain had we asked they would have done they’re best to accommodate us. We will look to Elk Springs again in the future when the resort is more established and as usual pick a new cabin with new experiences. The hot tub was right outside of the bottom floor and we put it to good use since the weather was nice a cool outside. The third floor has a pool table and a third large room with a connected bathroom (no jacuzzi tub, just shower). Great experience and easy access to strip for shopping, restaurants, games, skylift. The cabin itself is large, and a great place for a large family or multiple families. The downnstaris area is great for kids with 3 sets of bunk beds. We did run into a few issues. The entire cabin had a very strong fish smell in it when we arrived. I imagine this was from the previous guests, but it wasn't neutralized prior to our arrival and was there the entire say. I requested the management to drop off a few candles to try to get rid of the smell and the only option we were offered was for an engineer to come by and spray some dissenfectant spray in the cabin. We were not confortable with the cabin being fumagated while we were in it, also with Covid19 still being active in the area. We were notifed the day we were planning on arriving that the arcade game was broken and would't be fixed prior to us arriving which was a real bummer since that is one of the items we looked for when choosing a cabin. This is a pet friendly cabin, and there were several stains on the rug on the in the entry area. The rug also had the scent of urine in a few spots that we discovered after playing a game in that area. The smokies make it easy to ignore things becuase the park and surrondings itself is beautiful. The hot tub was nice, the kitchen and grill is fantastic as well as the decks. If we were spending more time in the cabin I would have been upset but we spent much of our time in the park, but @ close to $500 a night, I would expect these types of issues not to exist. It also needs fumigated. Our 8 yr old son was stung on the neck by a centipede in the living room. The living room needs more sitting or furniture. The grill is awful and full of rust. The steel brush wasn’t useable as it was worn out. When you go to a cabin, you expect to grill and we couldn’t at all. The floors in bathrooms and shower tubs are super slick. They are using something waxy on the linoleum to clean it and our 5 yr old little girl fell pretty bad and hurt her side. The living room tv is from early 2000s. With the rental cost we paid, the amenities would be expected to be a little better. The remote to the tv doesn’t work at all and had to be turned on manually. The location was good but the cabin management and owners need to spend some TLC on Blackjack to continue to charge over $100-125 a night everything seems dated and dirty. The ice maker and water dispenser on fridge didn’t work and it’s not sanitary to be getting ice with hands in the middle of a pandemic. Mowing crews should wait until at least 10 am to mow. An 8 am wake up for vacation may not be preferred by most." I rolled the rug up in lower level bedroom b/c it was so filthy. Dishes were put up dirty (I placed in dishwasher to be clean). Light bulbs were out in some areas. Also attic may need to be checked for critters. It may be bats, I only say this b/c you could here the yelping and lots of movement around 5:00 am each morning just b4 dawn and nothing else till around 5am. We enjoyed our stay, just as a business owner I would like to be made aware of any issue. Especially if I am paying someone to clean and the job is not being taken care of. The Blackjack Cabin was an awesome cabin. The tiny touches like a bear skin rug, a plethora of rocking chairs on the deck outside, and almost every kitchen utensil you could need made this stay that much more amazing. We curled up by the fireplace or utilized the movie room downstairs every night with our two young children and watched Christmas movies. The king sized bed was super comfortable and it was really convenient to have a jetted tub as well as a shower stall. Our cabin was beautifully decorated and suited our every need. My favorite thing about the cabin were the rocking chairs outside. I sat out there nightly, including the night it snowed, and it was absolutely awesome. The only issue we had was with the motion sensor lights outside. It worked intermittently, and so management sent someone out to fix it promptly. Unbeknownst to us, it only worked properly for a few hours and then completely stopped working. We have young kids and go out to walk about town at night, so it made us anxious not being able to see in the dark. Aside from that, we had an amazing time staying in this cabin and will definitely continue to use Elk Springs’ cabins!!" The entire basement smelled like pet urine with 20+ stains in the floor. The sofa and chair smelled very bad. There were dog hair on the upstairs bed, small white hair on the top and side of the spread. I requested a supervisor several times. I have records of my phone calls, text, and emails. The neighborhoods 6 kids were screaming next door in the hot tub without an adult, appeared to all be under the age of 10, at around 10:00 and 2:00 in the morning. I was told in a text by staff Friday to enjoy my stay after asking for a supervisor and resolution. On Saturday, Gene came fo look at the arcade game that still wasn’t working properly. He was extremely caring and documented all our concerns with pictures and reported them to his supervisor. I spoke to Lois on Saturday morning by text and call. She worked hard with upper management to have us moved. Based on reports I saw on trip advisor of other guests of Elk Springs that found issues with cabins and were not moved, that we were very blessed to have Glen and Lois. The second cabin was what was advertised. I then felt harassed by the lady on call after 4:00 PM on Saturday not Lois, to remove my 1 score artful review on trip advisor. Then, I received what I felt was a hateful email on Sunday from I believe the Operations Manager for Elk Springs to take my review down from trip advisor and that my request to have half our stay refunded was denied. A couple of days prior to our departure, I called the management company to inquire about access to the cabin via RV and was immediately informed that the cabin was not accessible by RV and promptly refunded our deposit. The property description was completely accurate and was perfect for me, my two sons, my daughter-in-law and 5 grandchildren, ages 2-17. When we walked in, the older grandkids said, "Mimi, this place is off the chain"! They loved having their own space on the lower level ... and so did we! The property was clean and very well-maintained and we were provided exceptional customer service. The sound on the arcade machine was not working properly and after reporting it to the manager, someone was there within 30 minutes to resolve the issue. When we went to cook, the outdoor grill would not work. We called Elks Springs and they came out that same morning, By early afternoon, they had installed a new grill with plenty of time for grilling. Awesome response time. That being said, two things were irritating about Elk Springs management. First, one picture shows an NFL game on the nine foot tv screen. Unless you have a DVD of a game, this will not happen because the basement tv does not have cable. The only function it serves is to watch a DVD. Second, I called to express concerns over a couple of small matters and no one ever answered the phone. The one time I did reach a person, he was apathetic. I would give Elk Springs a second try because of the cleanliness, but this cabin was not all I had envisioned."
