The heat stopped working at 2:00am and did not hear from anyone until 8:30am. The temperature in the cabin got to 52 degrees inside. Not very impressed by the on call emergency number. When the maintenance man did show up he wasn't very friendly. We loved the gas fireplace though. That helped to keep the house a little warm until we got it fixed. Elks Springs Resort has been the only company we have ever booked with in over 10 years. The quality of units are awesome. They are fully equipped with everything you need to drop your bag and just relax. This trip was a tad different for us this time, as I was in the ICU 12 days prior. I felt safe and well enough to ride and get away. The amenities never disappoint with ESR. The theater was nice. The gaming area was nice and fun for us. The major ding we had this trip was that the cabin had a few areas that needed a more thorough cleaning. My wife referred to it as a walk through clean. The remedy for my wife was to clean herself happy. The staff was we encountered was cool and helpful. The location was secluded and well lit and cared for. Honestly we would book again and have already started searching for our next vacation rental. The ball was dropped a little this time but forgiven." Each bedroom is on a separate floor which is really nice for privacy. The beds were comfortable and the hot tub was a great bonus. Our heat didn't work, but the company did everything to try and take care of the problem. The repair guy was at the house within an hour. It turned out that the heat was not able to be repaired so the company offered us a replacement cabin, which was an upgrade. However we declined because we would have to switch cabins twice. Luckily it wasn't freezing. A few extra blankets and we were able to tolerate the temperature. Overall I was satisfied with our stay and we plan to come back next year!" The power went out in the middle of the week due to a storm for a short time and back on:) There was a disappointing day when we left for the day early and returned mid evening and our parking area was full with four vehicles blocking us from being able to park there. We were all tired from a long, hot day and the entire road way up to the cabins were like that. I called to have them removed and that took longer then any of the other time for a response back. It ended up that the owners were in town and they had a company party so the employees parked in the tenants spots. But! They did get right on and sent them to move and apologized. Apparently they were only supposed to park where the cabins weren't rented. Taken care of . I would rent again the location was perfect." It looks like the whole paneling around the hot tub is deteriorating. It might just be better to go on and replace the whole hot tub. Other then the hot tub this is our dream cabin. Most properties will have cleaning supplies handy for restrooms and kitchen. Not this one. They alot you 1 roll of toilet paper per bathroom for your stay, One roll of paper towels, a mini bottle of dish liquid and 1 dishwasher pod per day of your stay. Most families renting a house will actually cook and use the dishwasher more that twice. All the general cleaning and bathroom supplies should be provided. -crummy pans for cooking. We had 8 people and all they had were 2 small frying pans and 3 tiny pots. We were hardy able to cook breakfast for all of us at once. The grill would flame up every few minutes due to being so dirty. -no hair dryer on premesis -Stain on bunk bed sheets (evidence that they do not change all linen every time) With the amount that a person is charged per night for this house I feel that more could be done for the convenience of the guest. Someone coming to stay for 2 days should not have to go buy cleaning supplies (and even cooking supplies such as pots and pans) to enjoy their stay (family dollar down the road sells a cheap 3 pack of frying pans for $20 and they are better than what is supplied). Kitchen was well stocked with most items needed but not enough silverware for 10 people for one meal - had to buy plastic silverware. Also there was only enough chairs and table space for 6 people - not the 10 that the cabin sleeps. We had to bring our own additional table so we could eat meals together. Overall the cabin was clean - except the kitchen floor was very dirty. Location to Gatlinburg is perfect and so near the grocery store and Arts District. Theatre room is only good if you bring blu-ray or DVDs to watch. The speakers are only connected to the blu-ray, so if you bring a chromecast you will have no audio. We rented primarily for the Home Theater. But the home theater is DVD capable only - no Netflix, satellite or cable - I must have missed the fine print. The bulb needs replacing. The picture quality was so poor we just turned it off. There were no flat screen or plasma TV's. All were vintage 1990's it appeared. The refrigerator never got cold. After two days, we gave up and bought ice to chill our drinks. The hot tub frame is falling apart - it appears to be unsafe. The pool table needs to recovered. It was covered in stains. I've seen straighter tree branches than the cue sticks provided. It reduced a game of billiards to that of putt-putt golf. Although the property had four porches, there were only 4 rocking chairs for lounging. When I called the management company to question the home theater, I ended up hanging up after waiting over ten minutes for someone to answer. To be fair, I did receive a call back. I find when I rent from homeowners directly, I have a much better experience. Renting from property management companies - not so much. Properties are poorly equipped. We like to clean up after our messes. No cleaning supplies were available. Not even a broom. This property needs some attention." The scenery was beautiful and everything was as advertised. This cabin is truly in the mountains, and driving up is kinf of nerve wrecking. But thats not a bad thing, give the cabin is in the mountains. I cannot say enough good about this cabin and the company. Id like to use them again in the future and reccomend them to others. There was a leake in the second floor bathroom (or at least we think it originated there), which ended up in the 3rd floor bedroom. The theatre took some deciphering to get going.
