This cabin floor plan has been enjoyed so much by our guests that it has been requested by numerous guests to build on their own property. Enjoy a game of pool in the loft area with pool table or enjoy a movie on the 36" flat screen TV above the gas fireplace. The cabin also features a full kitchen and washer/dryer in the unit as well as free WIFI. Rustic, Luxurious and romantic! Must be 21 or older to reserve a cabin and person booking must be staying in the cabin. We provide a starter supply of paper products, detergents and soaps and coffee filters. We do not supply shampoo, conditioner, body wash and there are no pantry items, spices, salt & pepper or coffee included - guests should bring these items. The mattresses were not comfortable, but the downstairs was the worst. There were plenty of dishes and appliances, which is always great. The grill was pretty small and barely hit 300 degrees, even though it is connected directly to gas for cabin. We ended up having to cook our steaks in the oven, which was disappointing. The hot tub was nice and stayed hot, which is not always the case. The gazebo and lighting were charming. The pool table was pretty good and we used that quite a bit. We still enjoyed our stay overall but, again, would likely opt for a different cabin for our next stay. The home was super clean when we arrived. Everything it advertised was there and in good working order. I loved the reservation process, communication from Elk Springs, the keyless entry, and the text to check-out feature. We had a minor issue with the heat, and after a quick phone call and it was resolved within 2 hours. We did not see any bears, but we did see wild turkeys! The only thing I might suggest is somehow giving cabins a terrain or altitude rating. When renting in the Smoky Mountains, it is hard to tell how high up in the mountains an individual cabin home is. This one was pretty high up a winding, twisting road. We didn't mind, it's just that we couldn't tell during the reservation process. Food City and Family Dollar are fairly close, so we were able to stock our kitchen with food for the week. While here, we ate at Three Jimmy's and Timbers Log Cabin restaurants, both near the cabin. Both were excellent! We also enjoyed much of what Gatlinburg & Pigeon Forge had to offer, and we loved that we could take the "back way" over to Pigeon Forge and avoid the traffic through Gatlinburg. We also took advantage of the free trolley into Gatlinburg one day. And, of course, we hiked some trails in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. While I love the hikes, one highlight was the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail, a one way drive through a beautiful part of the GSMNP. Plus, we had a bear siting on the way to Roaring Fork. Our stay at the "Grin & Bear It" cabin in the Smokey Mountains was the perfect "socially distant" family vacation. We were so pleased to see reality meet the great pictures of the cabin. The cabin is about 20 minutes from town which wasn't bad, but with being away from town and way up in the mountains we expected a little more privacy and a little bit of a view. This cabin was located close by 3-4 others that were much bigger and must have been hosting parties all week because it was pretty loud and not at all what I would consider "secluded". The cabin overlooks the road that you come in on and is surrounded by hills so you can't see more than 20 yards out the windows or from any porch location at all which was our biggest disappointment. The hot tub was nice but in plain view of everyone who drives by which was awkward. Overall we enjoyed our experience a lot but didn't spend much time in the cabin as we had on previous trips to the area. Our biggest complaint inside the cabin itself was that almost all of the pots and pans were in horrible condition and very difficult to use, the grill didn't get hot so it took forever to cook anything, and the size wasn't as big as we expected from the pictures. One thing that kind of grossed us out was a few toenail clippings we found on the window seal from the previous tenant but besides that, it was pretty clean. I would recommend this property to anyone who is planning on being out and about most of the time and is just looking for a place to come back at night and sleep. The picture is deceiving in that respect. We also were told the cabin is secluded. However, it is right next to and shares a driveway with another cabin. It was still quiet enough to enjoy evenings on the porch. Lastly, we had to launder towels 2-3 times during our stay, because there were only enough towels for each family member to shower once. They provide you with basic starter toiletries and kitchen stuff but you will need to bring/buy additional supplies if your stay is 2 days or longer (coffee, cream, sugar, garbage bags, toilet paper, laundry det. and dryer sheets, dish detergent, foil, seran wrap, etc...We drove to Tennessee from Louisiana so we just brought these items from home. We bought "fresh" groceries from a store close by. We had to cut our trip short due to a "city wide" power outage from a bad storm that passed through. The management team handled our situation nicely-they offered to put us up in a hotel anywhere in the city until our power was restored. They also refunded us for 2 nights! Beware of snow - Gatlinburg can't handle it! The Grin & Bear It cabin is just stunning. We loved every inch of it. It was spotlessly clean and the furnishings were lovely. The only complaint I have is the fact that the driveway to the cabin is a steep incline. This would not have been a factor if the weather was nicer, but Gatlinburg saw an inch of snow during our stay, and even though we do not drive a small car, we could not get our car up the drive to the flat space in front of the cabin. We had to leave it at the bottom of the drive and climb up on foot. Had this incline been advised in the cabin's description, we might have chosen another one. We did get the car up the driveway the next day, but coming back down proved treacherous as the car just slid. I was terrified that we would slide right off the edge of the road, which had no guardrail. The actual roadway throughout the property was plowed, so no issue there. I would caution vacationers to consider the time of year they visit, because Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge shut almost completely down with the minor snowfall, and we had nothing to do and no place to go out to dinner. Since we did love the property so much, we would definitely come back again in warmer weather."
