I saw dust on out of normal trafficked areas such as wood etc. the tub in the master bedroom had red algae stains around jets. I did not want to get into it. Also around the exterior of the cabin, general trash was present. I saw a granola bar wrapper present in grass by parking area and plastic water bottle off back deck area. I could also see trash in woods around the exterior of the cabin. I would recommend cleaning trash out of area around cabin. I also noticed this around other cabins which could be viewed from my cabin exterior. At this price point, I would recommend improving these features and consider updating the property furnishings. Did not like the musty smell from the hot tub cover. Also a carpet needs to be put down under the pool table due to pool balls falling out of the pockets. When staying for a week, more towels should be available as well as more “starter” materials ie. toilet paper and paper towels. Also, there was a lot of dust (especially under the beds and shelf in upstairs bedrooms) and light bulbs burned out. The bunk beds were also unstable with a huge crack in the middle. The pillows also need to be replaced. They were disgusting...yellow sweat stains and drool stains from previous boarders. They are well beyond flat and uncomfortable. Although it would be really great if you all could possibly add some window blinds and curtains for all of the downstairs areas of all the cabins throughout the entire cabin resort for more added and much needed privacy for the guests and families that will be staying at the cabins in the near future. It looks extremely creepy and very scary outside of the cabins at nighttime when there aren’t any window blinds and curtains put up on the windows. It just makes the guests feel a lot more safer and feel more secured with privacy when there are window blinds and curtains up at the windows throughout the cabins." The cabins were spaced far enough for privacy and I am sure it would look beautiful in the fall. It was perfect for just us two, but would have ample room had our two children gone with us and we loved that it wasn't far from all the fun that Gatlinburg has to offer, but far enough that it wasn't a busy area and was a quiet place to relax if needed. A couple of things: the master bathroom shower is small and the shower curtain didn't stay put, so the whole time you are trying to push it back out of your way during your shower and had mildew on the bottom. The drape above the bed either needs to be cleaned more regularly, or just taken down. It was very dusty! Our bed skirt was ripped and as I pulled the covers out, a penny was on the floor. I would also suggest a small table on the other side of the bed; a place to charge your phone, etc. I still feel overall that the room was clean, but a few oversights. I would also suggest bringing your own kleenex, they do not provide any and trying to use the toilet paper didn't work well. I would still absolutely suggest Elk Springs to anyone, those few things would never deter me from going back!" This cabin was located near (or in) the arts and crafts community, which I loved. It was close to Gatlinburg but away enough to be relaxing. The cabin was nice and clean. My only issue was not enough lighting next to the hot tub area for me and that the door wasn't closer to the hot tub. But that is not a real issue, just my personal preference. Check in was very easy and communication was great with the company. No issues while we were there. The rental prices are a little higher than other companies, but you get what you pay for. We have rented from several companies as we go about 3-4 times a year and this is one of our favorite companies. I had to wipe down the base of both toilets because it was covered in urine, dust and hair. All the curtains and fake flowers need cleaned and vacuumed. Extremely dusty and indicative of not being cleaned. Hardwood floors need mopping and carpets were not vacuumed well because we kept finding items left from other renters and our feet were black from walking barefoot on the hardwood floors. The hot tub, while of course should be hot, was so hot that even my husband and I could not get in. We tried to turn down the heat and it only went down four degrees. The master bed was not even finished being made (I had to finish putting the fitted sheet on one side of the bed) and the bed skirt needs to be repaired or replaced because it is torn and ratty. The crisper in the refrigerator had to be cleaned out because it had half an inch of old fishy smelling water in the bottom of it. Also hooks in the bathroom right by the showers and on the back of doors would be nice to hang towels on. While I understand that this resort may be under staffed and renters need to be understanding of this, I was very upset by the fact that our cabin was not ready until a little after 6pm. I know check-in times are flexible but three hours is unacceptable. We were even told our delayed check-in time was 5pm and it still wasn't ready, in fact, they were just showing up to clean our cabin at 4:45pm. While we liked the location of the cabin and the layout/look/somewhat seclusion of the cabin, I would really think twice about booking with Elk Springs Resort Cabins again." Aug 19, 2015 - , York, PA "Second Stay at Resort There were a few problem with this unit. First the up stairs toilet leaked(we call and it was fixed quickly). Second the dishwasher was broke (we didn't figure this out until the end of our stay and notified resort upon leaving). Third: Grill had rusted burners of which only half of the grill worked. The grill was so dirty we had to buy cleaner and a scrubber in order to use the half that worked. Forth: The deck, deck rail and picnic table was filthy. Fifth. Hot Tub pump is so loud that we only used it once. Sixth. There is no roof over the back deck, so, when it rained there was no place to sit outside. The only part of the deck that is covered is the side entrance which is only about 4 feet wide. The inside of the cabin was very clean and nice. We were completely comfortable and happy for the rest of our honeymoon and can't thank Elk Springs enough!"
