The response was quick and the fireplace was fixed but the roof had to be seen by a contractor. There was also a cabin nearby being worked on and it was kinda loud. Towards the end of the trip I was sent a text message with a deal for another night so I reached out to customer service because although the response to our issues was prompt I still feel like something should have been done about the inconvenience. I never heard back from anyone, which I am very disappointed about because I am a return customer and I also brought future customers with me on this trip." Easy to get to cabin with the directions given. It was comfortable, the heater worked, and it was cozy. We only cooked breakfast there but I feel they do need more bowls and cups. It is also hard to get in and out of that big tub, so if someone has restrictions or is older that may be an issue. My family of 5 stayed at Summit Sanctuary over the 4th of July holiday and really enjoyed our stay. The location was great and allowed quick and easy access to downtown Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Cades Cove Loop, the Arts and Crafts Community, etc. The cabin was as it was described, so no major surprises at all regarding expectations of what was advertised. The theatre room was great, so if that's something you're looking for, this property fits the bill. Sauna worked well, as did the hot tub. We cooked a number of our meals and the kitchen was well equipped with just about everything needed, and the grill outside was hooked up to a natural gas line so no problems running out of gas in the middle of grilling either. Of course, not everything is 100% perfect, but you have to expect that from a property like this. Some lightbulbs were out in the kitchen and on the microwave, but the maintenance team took quick care of those which was great. The floors themselves, both inside and out on the deck, weren't fully cleaned off and we found a few different instances where broken glass pieces were found in the bedroom and out on the main deck. Luckily no major stabs, but a bit more attention to cleaning would be ideal. The grill is showing it's age and the igniter is gone, so look for a lighter in the kitchen. Water pressure is rough... the rain shower heads work more like a drizzle so expect a bit longer to rinse. The other main issue we had was the main floor shower leaking into the lower level bathroom, as well as the ceiling in the kitchen leaking when it rained. Both were reported to maintenance but unfortunately it doesn't look like they were fixed so expect to only use 2 of 3 bathrooms. Overall though, we were pleased with the cabin for the price and the location and resort area was great! The hot tub was finicky but that was our only issue. It was very private high on the hill. Overall our experience was so easy, most of the communication was done via text, they even answered a question at 11pm on night. We will use Elk Sorings again. We have rented 3-4 other times with Elk Springs and did notice some differences this time. Previous cabins had granite countertops and overall a luxurious feel. This cabin, Summit Sanctuary, had laminate countertops, very inexpensive appliances which had issues, a very dirty jacuzzi filter, poorly maintained pool table, old run down couches, mismatched flooring, cheap linens, and very uncomfortable beds. The view was nearly non existent given the tree growth and the feel was more like a neighborhood then a getaway to a mountain cabin. The price was pretty steep for what we received and after this last experience we will likely look at cabin rentals elsewhere. The one positive is that the staff and maintenance are quickly responsive to any questions or issues. Perfectly nestled in the mountains of Gatlinburg and a 20 minute drive from the town center. When everyone arrived they were delighted with the host of features including the hot tub, sauna and movie room. The response time for any issue no matter how minor or serious is amazing. Everyone is so nice and accommodating. Clean, pristine and well stocked is how I would describe this cabin. One note of advice, make sure to bring extra toilet paper, paper towels, dish and laundry detergent, trash bags and towels. They provide you with a few but it is your responsibility to bring what you need for your stay. If there was one serious criticism it would be that the sofa "bed" was VERY uncomfortable. My husband and I felt so bad for any of the teens or older family members to sleep on it so we took it. We ended up sleeping on the closed sofa because it was so hard and the mattress is very thin. The two queen sized bunk beds and the two private rooms with king beds are sufficient to sleep 8. My aunt and her two teen daughters ended up sharing one of those beds and they had plenty of room. To say this comfortably "sleeps" 10 people is a stretch, unless they sleep on the floor or a sofa, it sleeps more like 8 people. Overall a great place for a great time. They weren't as comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked but the pans were missing much of the nonstick coating, so we bought an inexpensive set of pans to cook with. Overall, this cabin was great but could use some newer curtains/curtain rods and a little updating. The kitchen needs a broom, we couldn't find one in the cabin. Mattresses were a little soft for our liking but someone else may like them that way. There was an issue with a bee/wasp nest higher up in the rafters outside near the front door. Spoke with an employee in the am and the staff took care of the problem by the time we returned at 5pm. These were the only real negatives about Summit Sanctuary. We do prefer the "Basswood Lodge" just because of the recent updates to fixtures and furniture and will probably stay there next year. There was a pool table room and theater room and two living rooms with a tv in every bedroom as well. I will stay here again it was a great experience. She was very professional and very helpful. We have a family of 6, with my oldest son 24yrs. another two boys 16 and 14 yrs., and finally our "cherry on top", a daughter 10yrs. old. Everyone had plenty of room and privacy. The orientation of the cabin put the decks facing south, which gave the interior plenty of natural light. This would be perfect for extending the comfort of enjoying the 3 amazing porches even in late fall and winter. Even though we didn't have time to enjoy he theater room until our last night, it will be a must for all our future reservations. The screen size was perfect and the sound was top quality. I'm not a clean freak but I can spot a hair a mile away (It's a curse), but this cabin was spotless! The kitchen was equipped with everything you could need to prepare and serve home cooked meals. Don't bother packing a can opener "just in case", they have everything! Take foil if you want to line the grill though. Washer and dryer worked great, hot tub was wonderful while star gazing and sauna got nice and hot! Totally enjoyed our stay!!" We are looking into investing in a rental property at this time. The things that we were disappointed in were the cleanliness and location. We were hoping for a view of the mountain or more scenic ie, nature instead of the road and cabins. Upon walking into the resort we could see the dust on everything and there were spider webs throughout. For $1200 we really expected it to be clean. Also, because the sauna had a timer for an hour, it never did feel like a sauna, which we felt to be a waste of our money. The cabin itself is beautiful and we are looking into cabins where relatives can gather for the holidays. We have many children in our families and we have twin babies ourselves and I'm just not sure that we feel good about letting them play on the floor etc. Again the cabin was breath taking...but those few things listed above were disappointing." Totally impressed by the cabin - for once the actual details matched the photos. The cabin had everything as shown in the pictures and very nicely decorated and stocked. The kids enjoyed having one level to themselves with the media room and the adults enjoyed the pool table and hot tubs. The linens, towels, dishes everything was clean. We actually plan to return to this resort going forward to enjoy quality and peaceful time with the family. Not once with a group of 10 for 3 days stay - had we to call the maintenance people for anything- that in itself speaks a lot of the quality Elk delivered.
