The floor to ceiling windows showcase the view which was always changing due to low lying clouds and we spent so much time on the deck in the hot tub taking it all in! The fog and clouds lifted our last night giving us an incredible view of the stars that was so magical! The kitchen was well equipped with everything I needed for cooking. The maintenance staff were so helpful with quickly taking care of the few problems we had during our stay. This is our second stay with Elk Springs Resort and we will definitely be back! Our only downside was that the jacuzzi tub in the master bath had mold in the tubing so there were little flakes of black stuff that would come out when you used it. The maintenance staff tried cleaning it and we worked on it some more, but it may need the tubing replaced. Bearfoot Memories is a wonderful cabin that you will love staying in! It was a little tough to find, since it was on a private road and the "Stop: Private Road" sign threw us off, but a text message to the office, even though it was after 6:00 P.M., cleared things up and we were able to get settled soon after. The staff at Elk Springs has always been easy to work with, and the easy Check-in and Check-out process makes things easy and secure. We only stayed 2 nights, but the process from finding a cabin to leaving the property at the end did help us relax a little on our way back home to "Normal". The main downside to the cabin is that it is located high on a mountain- hence the incredible views- but driving up and down the narrow road at night can be difficult. Also note that you will have to go shopping since only the bare necessities are provided. It is very small inside and a bit cramped. The bedrooms are about an awkward 3 feet apart from each across the hall. The wifi/internet is basically nonexistent. One does not usually have to worry about the internet connection when on vacation but at time work needs to be done, calls need to be made, and in an unknown area, you would like to be able to load directions before leaving the cabin. Attempted to take relaxing baths in the jacuzzi tubs but once the baths were filled and the jets turned on, a slew of black dirt, mold, and chunks spat out from the jets in both bath tubs. Absolutely disgusting. Lastly, do not book during winter! It snowed during our visit and when we left the cabin in the afternoon on our second night, we could not return to it. The road up the mountain was plowed but our driveway up to our cabin at the top has not been touched. With a steep incline, sharp turns, and no guardrails, it was impossible to make it up to our cabin with the road covered in snow and ice. We had to book a hotel for the remainder of our visit. All of the money paid for this cabin and they could not be bothered with snow removal for their guest. Would not book again nor recommend. The Mountain View was unbelievable and customer service was extremely kind and professional. I checked in on 12/23/20. High winds were expected so I lost power late that evening. The power came back on early morning on 12/24/20. I enjoyed the day in downtown Gatlinburg and returned around 4:30pm. I knew there was a snow storm expected so I prepared. The power went out around 9pm. The power was on Christmas morning when I woke up but went out again at 11:45am and did not come back on until 3:00am 12/26/20. I spent Christmas bundled up by the fireplace so I could stay warm, without WiFi, a television and a stove. I had to sleep on the couch by the fireplace. It was freezing in the bedrooms and bathrooms. Needless to say, the views were beautiful but it was not my most memorable Christmas or maybe it was...lol. I checked out a day early, not wanting a repeat of those events, and informed customer service that the owner of that cabin should invest in a generator. Because of the on and off of the electricity, I had to discard the little food I had in the refrigerator. Besides that it is a beautiful cabin. Customer service was understanding and kind to partly reimburse me for the inconvenience. I would love to return after a generator is installed. The internet is extremely bad. Very slow, and constantly crashes. I was told to reset the router but that did not help. Maybe the cabin needs a new router or a new internet provider. Water pipes make lots of noise if you use the bathroom at night. It sounds like a ball bouncing on the floor and if you’re a light sleeper it will definitely wake you up. The game loft was great for the kids, and the two master suites were perfect. The view from this cabin is absolutely breathtaking. The sun rises over the peaks that face the family room windows, so the morning views are especially amazing. The location is great, and very convenient to Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and other area attractions. Also I cannot say enough about the Elk Springs staff. To say they were helpful, courteous, and professional would be an understatement. They were prompt with the check-in time and even followed up with a phone call to make sure everything was ok with our cabin and check-in. The upstairs area was very roomy...plenty of room to shoot pool without need of a short cue stick. My personal favorite was the upstairs nook with large picture window, quiet and restful. We will definitely return if God allows. If I had to pick a negative it would be the couch and love seat. They are nice to look at but for a septuagenarian they are very uncomfortable...almost impossible to get up once you set down! There were a couple of other items but not really worth mentioning here. We especially enjoyed Mr. and Mrs. Cardinal. They came to visit the large picture windows at least twice a day to peck out their 'hellos' on the window sills! It was our first time vacationing in Gatlinburg and this cabin made it all the more enjoyable. The location is perfect! Not too far from downtown Gatlinburg, the grocery stores, local restaurants, or even Pigeon Forge. And the view...the pictures do not do it justice! Waking up with the rising sun every morning might have been my favorite part. The neighbors are not too far away, but still blocked by the surrounding trees giving you that secluded feel you want when renting a cabin. The inside was clean and had just about everything one could want for, especially on a vacation. The easy check in and check out process makes it perfect for those who have to travel a ways to get there. The staff is always pleasant, friendly, and helpful in making sure everything is perfect for you and your stay. I can't say enough good things about the cabin, or the staff of Elk Springs Resort except my husband and I will definitely be back!!" All of the pictures of the views of the mountains are accurate; it's gorgeous. Every morning we would drink our coffee in the hot tub while looking at the beautiful view. The day after we arrived an Elk Springs staff member called us to make sure we had everything we needed. The location was great; about a 15 minute drive to downtown Gatlinburg. The beds, jacuzzi tubs, pool table, fireplaces, TVs, and everything else about the cabin made us never want to go home! We are booking the same cabin for next year; we love this place!!"
