Located at on Florida’s Southwest Gulf Coast. No bridges or causeways to the island exist, which ensures a relaxed, tropical vacation setting. The island resort encompasses a two-mile portion of private, pristine beaches on the northern end of Palm Island. Guests travel to the island via car ferry and park their car in our island parking area. Transportation is provided by our bell staff and golf carts are also available for rent for registered guests. Enjoy access to one of the 5 heated pools, plus hot tub and gas BBQ grills. Tennis courts available for play and always complimentary. Our recreation center, Coconuts, offers a variety of rentals to include golf carts, bicycles, kayaks and beach umbrellas. A full service concierge can also arrange for everything from massages to fishing charters. Be sure to catch a Pirate Show with the resort’s own Red Beard the Pirate. Join a complimentary water aerobics class, nature walk or yoga on the beach when scheduled. The beach was secluded and picturesque. The resort was beautifully landscaped and well maintained. We enjoyed tennis everyday of our stay. There was always court available. However, being that you are a resort, there are a few areas I feel could be improved. 1. Towels should be available at all pools. You shouldn’t have to use your unit towels or bring some from home. Even small hotels offer this. 2. Let people know when checking in if their place is on the top floor. People have health conditions and should know about steps. 3. Let people know when booking that their pool is being repaired. Had I known, I would have chosen another unit. 4. Consider offering drinks poolside. 5. Coconuts breakfast should be stepped up. 6. During the third day, our final day of the trip, the A/C shut off. Maintenance determined the drain line was clogged and the drain pan full, shutting the unit off. Maintenance did not have time to clean the clogged line until the next day, after our departure, but placed a cooking pot under the air handler to catch water which we emptied during the last evening, which allowed the unit to begin cooling. The problem was made worse due to the fact that none of 3 ceiling fans would operate on high. Maintenance confirmed the one in the bedroom either need a new switch or new fan, and could not be repaired that day. Finally, the refrigerator rattled loudly every time it cycled on, which was annoying, especially while watching TV. Inability to buy grocery items, supplies, closing of entertainment,restaurants and beaches! Although the number of guests were down, so was the staff. We never got return phone calls from Coconuts to rent, most calls to office were to voice mail and not returned, for electrical issue we had. Not sure the resort really wanted the guests amid the chaos, The bell service was awesome! We ordered take out from Rum Bay but they never called us to tel us it was ready, so it was cold and awful. Although our unit was beachy and cute, no view of the water, or beach due to the beautiful palm trees right off the porch. Disappointing as we came from MN for the beach and view. We have been there before but in other units. We were looking for quiet, peace and relax and could basically find that. A lot of pets, were there, for the most part limited barking. It would have been nice, for the inconvenience of closing passenger ferry, etc (not the resort fault) but maybe throw in a free bike or golf cart rental for the day. We pay much more $$ for these rentals than others on the island or Florida and expect 5 star. We do understand the virus was out of control. When we checked in we had to take out the garbage from the unit and ask for toilet paper, we were left with 1 roll and could not find it in the stores. Everyone we interacted with was nice, and we totally understand the chaos of the CV19,--we just felt the resort should have waived the refund options or offered to rebook. The staff, with exceptions noted below, were friendly and attentive. On a barrier island where the units are arranged to highlight the surroundings and cats aren't allowed, this was a quiet, peaceful, relaxing place. You have to slow down! Ther only thing that approached crowded was the restaurant. We debated renting a golf cart for our stay and we're glad we did. It gave us the freedom to explore more of the island and access the north beachs where the best shells are located. We chose to not bring groceries since we were only there 2 nights and didn't want to cook or do dishes. I'll probably bring them next time. The restaurant is overrated. The food selection was interesting but the preparation was average, at best. The service was very poor both times we ate there with different wait staff each time. "Island time" is one thing, but disinterested, grumpy staff who don't listen and aren't helpful are another. One waiter didn't bother staying at our table long enough to take or full drink order. Our food orders were wrong and the food was served cold. Will I come again? Absolutely! Next time, I'll bring groceries and consider going to the mainland for that dinner out.
