Stylish Bamboo provisions in the dining and snack bar areas make for cozy and comfortable together time while keeping it classy. The ravishing red paint really pops and brings an atmosphere of pep for your Florida vacation - sit comfortably while enjoying some relaxation time - because after all, you deserve it!! Condo 7008 HAS IT ALL! The master bedroom as well as the living room feature flat screen TVs. Tile flooring throughout. Islander Beach Resorts have access to one of Okaloosa Island's largest gulf-side pools, a shuffleboard court, and a barbeque grill area. A quick stroll across the boardwalk puts you right on the beach! All guests have Free High-Speed Internet access in their unit, as well as wireless Internet access in our lobby.
Islander Beach Resort has a two vehicle limit.
The pool is heated the week of Thanksgiving and beginning the week of Christmas until March 31st.

The 100% cancellation loss can be avoided if: (1) Red Sky rental vacation insurance was purchased and the reason for cancellation is a reason covered under the travel insurance; or (2) Brooks and Shorey Resorts can re-rent the unit for the full term of the original rental period, in which case the guest will be charged 10% of the total paid as rebooking fee. Prior to arrival, if a guest has to shorten their stay or change their unit, normal cancellation penalties may apply, whether they are insured or not. Refunds issued by Brooks and Shorey Resorts will be issued no more than 30 days after departure date of original stay. Refunds are payable to the guest within 30 days after the subsequent re-rent payment has cleared our account.

"Outdated old, broken recliners, not worth the $
Entering the condo you are greeted by an old dirty foyer rug.broken closet doors in the 2nd bedroom. Screen on patio door was barely intact and eventually came out, rendering it useless. Shower curtains and toilet seats in both bathrooms were nasty and couldn’t be cleaned. Kitchen and bathrooms were terribly outdated. A/C didn’t work the first 3 weeks we were there as maintenance had to come into condo 15 times. And the topper is my corvette got broken into and cost me 500$ to replace glass( no cameras or security on property)"

The condo as a whole is fine. A few basics are missing from the kitchen (a pitcher, for instance), the balcony furniture cushions are worn out and stained, cushions in the dining chairs are flat, and the TV in the master bedroom will only play one channel. Minor things that should be addressed, but didn't keep us from enjoying our week at the beach."

Staying in our favorite vacation rental unit is always a treat! We had a great, low key time which was the goal. My only complaint was with the Islander, not the unit. They added a pool code this year that was 6 digits. I could never remember it so walked around the pool to get to the beach walkway every day, which was a little annoying. I saw people yelling out the code to others, climbing the gate, etc. Just a minor annoyance. "

"Better than ever
We have stayed at Islander and in this unit many times. This was probably the best stay as far as overall condition of the property. It has been 5 years since our last stay but since then the outside of the building has been painted a lovely blue. The elevators were all working (which hasn't always been the case - and when you're on the 7th floor that can be a challenge), and the unit itself was well maintained (except for a noisy ceiling fan in the living room). I would like to see the management ban smoking completely from the property. Smoking is allowed on the balcony and we were driven off our balcony several times due to the cigarette smoke wafting in from a unit near us. Also, someone was grilling on their balcony which is against state law."

"Great Place!
This was our second time staying with Brooks and Shorey and this unit was better than the first one we stayed in!. The condo we stayed in was clean and had everything we needed. It’s on the 7th (top) floor and the view is gorgeous! Will definitely stay with them again if I have the opportunity in the future! The only thing I wish the units had was recliners. I understand why they don’t but the furniture is very uncomfortable to rest on after a long day walking or on the beach. I’m still very satisfied with my stay and would recommend them to anyone!"

"Decent for the Money
Location is great although its tough to walk to anything. The condo was nice but could use some updating. Great views and it was clean. The building was under renovation which we knew before renting. The elevators were slow but they also had one shut down due to resurfacing the floor. Staff was very friendly. As I said in the title it was decent for the money but in the future I would stay somewhere with more amenities on the property. "

This unit was very nice and well equipped. We especially enjoyed the rockers on the patio with a beautiful beach view. The master bed was comfortable but a little noisy when turning during night.
This is not anything to do with our unit but the time we were there only 1 of 2 elevators was working and on the morning of our departure the fire alarm went off and the 1 elevator stopped running. Also while we were trying to get our stuff out the heating and air people came to replace the 8nside unit so it was a hassle trying to get out hyb10 AM."

"October Vacation Stay
We were concerned about cleanliness due to having read a previous negative review, however we found the condo to be very clean. The proximity to the to be fantastic. Closer than most condos. We were disappointed that only 1 of 2 elevators were functioning and it was broken down when we checked in. We were on the 7th floor and not happy with the task of hauling all our luggage up 7 flights of stairs. Fortunately the desk clerk came to or aid even thought it was outside her realm of responsibility. She did a great job assisting and arranging other assistance. Customer service at it's best. It would have been good to know that only one elevator was functioning when we booked our room. According to an owner this situation had been an issue since early September."

The condo was just so-so. In today's environment, I certainly expected the condo to be cleaner, there was a good coating of dirt around all the edges of the floors and on the baseboards. The kitchen just didn't feel clean, the utensils and drawers were icky. The towel bars in the bathrooms were about to fall off the wall. As for the Islander building (understanding it was a week after a nearby hurricane) was under maintained, one of the elevators didn't work at all and the one working elevator only worked sometimes. A real problem when you have to carry your groceries up to the 7th floor! And the work being done (which we weren't notified until Sunday when the workmen were to arrive on Monday) was all but unbearable - the noise was deafening! We would have stayed in a different location had we known, very unfair!"

"A wonderful place to stay
This unit was in a great location, and it was super clean. I was pleasantly surprised to find extra sheets, plenty of towels, and a starter supply of paper towels and dishwasher detergent. "Vacation Getaway
This is a great room with great living space. The unit was on the 7th floor so amazing views of the Gulf of Mexico each and everyday. Lots of space to sit on the patio and enjoy the scenery. Inside the accommodations are also great, its everything you need to relax and enjoy the time at the beach. The rental company was great to work with as well, they have an app and provide lots of communication. "

"Great Vacation
My husband and I stayed in Islander 7008 for a week in September. The condo was very nice, super comfortable living room furniture, comfortable bed in the master bedroom, and the condo was nice and clean. We enjoyed the big balcony and comfortable rocking chairs. We loved having the free beach service and my husband enjoyed the free golf amenity provided by Brooks and Shorey. First time dealing with Brooks and Shorey, didn't have to "check in", just got a call telling us our condo was ready and received the lock code. Convenient and easy. We really like the Fort Walton Beach area and would stay in this unit again. We enjoyed pizza and German food at Fokker's Pub, and great steamed shrimp at Brotula's in Destin. "

"Great beach, great complex, good unit
First the good: Brooks & Shorey are a fantastic company to work with. The communication was fantastic, the staff considerate and professional. The beach at the Islander is great but the pool is a little small. The complex was clean and well maintained and overall the unit was nice. The living room furniture looked new and was very comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked. Now the not so good (which most will find nitpicky but it's my review): found hair on the bathroom floor and sink when we checked in. Not a big deal but not a great first impression. The bed in the master bedroom has a lot of 'nesting' from use and wasn't comfortable. My husband and I both woke up with backaches every morning. There was no remote for the smart TV in the living room so we couldn't use our Netflix account as there was no way to get to the TV menu. The steak knives and baking sheet were rusty. The countertops have permanent stains. Over the years we've stayed at some really outstanding places and some not so much. With all that being said this unit still ranks among the top. This was our second time to rent through Brooks & Shorey and I won't hesitate to rent through them again. "

"Beautiful condo in a great location
This was our first visit to this area, we will definitely be back. The condo and property are very well maintained. The location is awesome. We saw several dolphins and manta rays during our stay. "Fall Beach Vacation 2017
We were very happy with our stay. The unit was very clean. Loved the balcony!! The view was absolutely amazing from the seventh floor. Other than hurricane Nate causing power outage & wifi outage, our vacation met all our expectations. Loved the recliners for watching TV. We didn't use the pool.... but it was very nice... we enjoyed Beach time with the provided Beach chairs and umbrella. This was our first trip to the panhandle area and we plan on returning. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed."

Wonderful beach experience. The unit unfortunately was below my standard of cleanliness so this made the stay uncomfortable. The white floor and white floor trim was filthy. I found a large drop of gooey something on the bedside table. There was toothpaste spit on the shell soap holder in the bathroom. I've never been in a condo so unsupplied. No salt and pepper, no plastic cups for the kids, no liquid soap to wash your hands, pen or paper. This was to be our home for most of the week, not a hotel room. The preview pictures conveniently left out all the cabinets the veneer was peeling off of. The closet doors were falling down. Especially for the price we paid. "

Sherry in the rental office could not have been nicer, very professional and extremely responsive. We can not say enough nice things about her.
Great location & balcony furniture.
The condo was NOT as pictured. The fronts of cabinets in the kitchen & bathrooms are peeling off. The toilet in the master moved up & down when one sat on it. The cold air return was FILTHY. Even though the unit is for sale, things should be maintained better."

"Peace and quiet
This property is located on the peaceful west end of the island. Restaurants and shops are located closer to the bridge. The codo was a bit over furnished for our taste, with way too many mirrors . . . walls of them! The balcony was very large and the view and access to the beach was great. Two bathrooms was a plus. The movie kiosk with complementary movie rentals was no longer at the location indicated on information we received, and no one knew that. We were finally directed to a machine at another property. It was a little frustrating as we chased all over looking for it."

"Good Vacation Spot
Condo was just as described. Clean, spacious, well equipped. It was even a little larger than we had envisioned. Didn't have a baking sheet, called and one was brought to us that day. Maintenance worked on the ice maker and Didn't get it fixed but we had ice trays and that worked okay. Would definitely rent the condo again. The free golf and beach chairs/ umbrella were an added bonus."

"Good Gulf View
The view from 7008 was exceptional. Both sunrise and sunset were beautiful. The 2 rockers on the balcony were a nice touch and we spent much time there reading and watching the beach action. The property was in a good location for grocery shopping, gas and quick stops for beverages.
However, the rooms in 7008 were in dire need of a refresh and thorough cleaning. The furniture was worn, the living room rug was very dirty and the TVs were from the 90's. The tubs didn't drain well and the sink in the small bathroom would barely drain until I worked on it. The phone did not work (we had cell phones so I guess this is a small problem) and the general appearance of the condo was tired and worn.
But the view was nice and the balcony was comfortable."

"Amazing View, Terrible Beds
The view and location was amazing. I stay in the Destin area often and love it. This was my first time on Okaloosa Island I loved being right on the beach and the beach chair service was the BEST. Check In/Out was easy. The air couldn't be turned down lower than 75 degrees. The note said it would freeze up. So it was a little warmer in the unit than I prefer. The patio furniture was new and very nice and the living room/dining room furniture seemed new as well. The beds were both terrible. Old like you could feel the springs. Pillows were old and lumpy. I was very very sore from sleeping. I couldn't even turn my head by the time we left. The bedding was old and rough. The smaller "guest" room had a musty smell to it. I was glad there were only 2 of us staying so no one had to be in that room. While the kitchen cabinets and fixtures could use some updating, I knew I was paying for the view and location. The beds/bedding were the worst part and the smell in the spare room was allergy provoking. If beds could be upgraded and new bedding/pillows, I would come back. Until then I wouldn't recommend staying here. I would have paid more to get some sleep while on vacation..."

"Awesome unit!!
We love Ft. Walton beach and we really love this unit. It's very roomy and nicely decorated. It looks just like the pictures. We've stayed here several times and it's always very neat and clean. The last time we stayed a few years ago there was a minor issue with the dishwasher and maintenance came right away a repaired it. The pool is very clean and never crowded. We appreciate the family atmosphere. Wicker rockers have been added to the balcony since we last stayed and we really enjoyed those since we spend most of our time on the balcony when we are in the unit. We will definitely stay here again on our next visit to Ft. Walton. "

"Little aggravating things
A few things not happy with, the elevators did not work part of the time and we were on 7th floor so not good. The movie rental being off site was inconvenient so we never used. We scheduled the sea blaster and the lady did not want to schedule us and was discouraging about the trip. Overall, we had a great time and did not let these things interfere with that but we would probably choose another condo to stay out when we return.

"My Happy Place
This is the 4th time we have stayed at the Islander Beach and 7008 was no different than the others. It was wonderful. A beautiful condo and views that are to die for. This is my happy place and not mention my husband and children ages 9, 4 and 9 months love it too!! On a side note, Floyd's was a wonderful place to eat. We ate there for the first time this trip!! :)"

"Awesome Stay
We really enjoyed our stay, we had an Awesome time. The condo was exactly how it appears on the website. The view is beautiful from the seventh floor balcony. We enjoyed the Dolphin's that decided to play in front of the condo in the morning and some days in the early evening. The weather was on our side and was on the beach everyday. Enjoyed many good local restaurants, would have to say the best was McGuire's. Brooks and Shorey Resorts personal were a pleasure to work with to ready us for such a awesome vacation. They had the condo clean and ready to enjoy. We will recommend this condo/beach to our friends and family. Pasadena, MD"

Everything was great as far as the stay and all of your personnel, however, those in charge need to monitor the fishing on the beach when vacationers are trying to swim. One of my friends was nearly hit in the water when one of the lines was being casted. Also, swimmers could get hooked."

"Nice condo!
Nice condo! Had to buy hangers for the closet. Coffee pot didn't work but called the office and they brought one in an hour. Really wanted a later checkout time since the weather had been so bad but was denied as I assume others were coming in. Overall a good unit though. Loved getting the free golf per day!! "

"not worth the price
The dryer had issues it would sometimes work and sometimes not. Thecoffee maker stopped working. The trash chute would get jammed and the trash would not fit. We had to sit our trash next to the chute. This occurred 3 out of 4 days. The unit was smaller than other units we stayed in and not expensive"

i rented 2 & mine really needed updated bad!!!! the other 1 was up dated. mine didnt even have a stero are raido, old tv in living room, furniture in livingroom really old!!!and i was told that shops & stores was within walking distance yous were way of on that. for the price i think i could have got better condo. so i will not stay their agian. i will go through my travel agent next time. she tried to tell me that but i use her for going out of the country all the time. i thought that staying in the usa that i would be safe booking myself. boy i was dead wrong on that never agian!!!!

"The Bragg's Florida Vacation
You never know what you're really going to get when you rent a condo. You just cross your fingers, read everyone's reviews and take a chance. I am really hard to please when it comes to accomodations away from my home. Cleanliness is top on the list followed by location and amenities. Well, folks I can tell you that Islander Beach Resort Condo #7008 in Fort Walton Beach, Florida is AWESOME!!! It gets 5 stars for all that I just mentioned. There's no way the pictures on the internet can make you realize the breathtaking views from the balcony. "Brooks and Shorey" made the check in and check out very easy. The also suggested things to do and places to eat. By the way High Tide Resturant gets two thumbs up from me and so does Sea Blaster which is a dolphin cruz. We have three children, all girls, 11, 9 and 3 years old and they loved everything about the stay. To Brooks and Shorey, Islander Beach Resort and whoever owns #7008 thanks so much for the memories. Lord willing we WILL BE BACK!"

"Great Condo, Great Vacation
We booked this condo from the website. Based on the reviews and info, we booked immediately. This unit was very clean and had an amazing view. We really enjoyed the free beach chairs and umbrella that was set up each morning. Many attractions are very close. The revamped Gulfarium, mini-golf, outlet mall in Destin, etc.. Kids loved the beach, pool and the area. We will definitely rent this unit again. We have rented in Gulf Shores and Navarre Beach the last 10 years. This is the best unit and location. Very happy. Thank you for a great vacation!"
