There has been so much work put into this condo, and the updates continue. Pillow top mattress in the MASTER BEDROOM is super comfortable after a long day at the beach. From the private patio which is open to both the living room and the dining room/kitchen you can keep an eye on the activities around the pool and the beach. The LARGE windows give the Florida sun ample room to enter this open layout. There is no choice but to be stunned when you get to experience the sunrises and sunsets of our Gulf Coast first hand from a place you can call home. Sit on the BISTRO HEIGHT furniture on your private balcony and sip your coffee every morning and enjoy some PEACE and RESTFULNESS. This is the best way to soothe the soul. The direct view of the beach and boardwalk from 4006 allows you to see the amount of traffic that's coming and going and how active the beach is! Notice the BEACH CHAIRS- you get one free setup with your rental so look forward to having those two chairs and umbrella set up for you on the beach in the mornings. LESS TO LUG THROUGH THE SAND! Islander Beach Resorts have access to one of Okaloosa Island's largest gulf-side pools, a shuffleboard court, and a barbeque grill area. A quick stroll across the boardwalk puts you right on the beach! All guests have Free High-Speed Internet access in their unit, as well as wireless Internet access in our lobby.
Islander Beach Resort has a two vehicle limit.
The pool is heated the week of Thanksgiving and beginning the week of Christmas until March 31st.

No refund if you cancel less than 14 days before check in.
The 100% cancellation loss can be avoided if: (1) Red Sky rental vacation insurance was purchased and the reason for cancellation is a reason covered under the travel insurance; or (2) Brooks and Shorey Resorts can re-rent the unit for the full term of the original rental period, in which case the guest will be charged 10% of the total paid as rebooking fee. Prior to arrival, if a guest has to shorten their stay or change their unit, normal cancellation penalties may apply, whether they are insured or not. Refunds issued by Brooks and Shorey Resorts will be issued no more than 30 days after departure date of original stay. Refunds are payable to the guest within 30 days after the subsequent re-rent payment has cleared our account.

"Pretty updates, but not everything was functional
The updates to the condo were gorgeous and the kitchen design was genius. The guest bed was terrible, we ended up having to go buy a pillow top mattress pad to make it bearable to sleep on & it was wobbly. Then, one night the bed completely broke when getting up to go to the restroom. The couple staying in the room is about to have a baby so she went sleep on the floor at 8 months pregnant since the sofa is meant for looks and not to actually be sat on since it’s so uncomfortable, not wide enough to sleep on, and there’s also no pull out bed. Brooks and Shorey came to our rescue and replaced the bed frame quickly but I hope the owners get an actual bed. Atleast 3 of the electrical outlets did not work but it was the broken outside one that was the most inconvenient."

"Great stay!
We loved our time at The Islander 4006. The condo was clean, the beds and furniture were comfortable and the amenities were fantastic. The only complaint that I have is the shower curtains were not long enough resulting in water leaking out all over the floor anytime we showered.
Would definitely recommend for others to stay there!"

Condo was exactly as described. Living room furniture was not as comfortable as I am used to, but was ok for a few days. King bed mattress seemed too be a little worn out on sides. Over all I LOVED the location and view was amazing. I have walking issues and the unit was very convenient from elevator, pool, and beach. Look forward to staying again. Brooks and Shorey is always very helpful with any of their rentals. "

The location of the Islander 4006 is in a great location, right on the beach. A few things about the room, there was not enough comfortable furniture, the kitchen table and chairs are un sturdy and the chairs feel like they will fall apart when sat on. "

The rental was very clean. I think the couch needs changed out. It looked dirty. I wouldn’t sit on it. You need a small table behind the door of the hall bathroom. I used one of the dining chairs to put stuff on. The kitchen was well stocked. "

"Needs Some Attention
When we got to the room it smelled musty. I sprayed Lysol everywhere everyday to kill time the smell and. hopefully the mold spores. The bathroom shower and shower curtain had mold on them. The tub would not drain. We had to buy Draino and use it twice to get it to drain. The oven would not heat I made biscuits one morning and had to take them from my oven and borrow the neighbors oven to get them cooked. The coffee pot too forever to make coffee. When I rented the unit I got pictures of a different unit. Then later the pictures were different furniture Brooks and Storey no help what so ever in solving the problem. They just said that’s all we have I will send your money back. We were meeting friends in FL we had to have a room. Very disappointed. We have used B&S twice before but NEVER again. The sofa w as so uncomfortable. We had four adults and we really did t have seating but for three to watch TV. I feel I need some of my mo ET back

Million dollar views!! Just a couple of suggestions for our condo - more seating in the living room area would be nice with 4 adults staying there. Cleaning staff should remove mold growing in the corner of the bathtub in the master bathroom. These are minor issues - the condo overall is beautiful - great furniture in the balcony! We would definitely stay here again!

"Very nicely updated living with beautiful views
From start to finish, our stay was outstanding. The living is nicely updated and accommodated our needs. Had everything available if you wanted to cook in the kitchen and not eat out everyday. The balcony was well setup with a table to seat 4 along with 2 separate lounge chairs and table to relax and take in the breathtaking views. Very nicely situated right no the beach with only a few hundred yards to walk.
Couple of things I felt it lacked was the seating in the living room was not quite enough for my family of 3 to comfortably sit and watch a movie at night. Would be better suited with 2 coaches and an individual chair.
Also would've been nice to have extra blankets. There were no extra blankets in either bedroom.
Overall, a great place to stay and would highly recommend. We would definitely book again if we went.

"Nice
We had a nice stay. The condo was a little smaller than what I was expecting but
was very clean!! Bathrooms were very nice. There was no dresser in the 2nd had to find a place to store our clothes. We basically just lived out of our suitcase for the week. Other than that nice place."

We had a great vacation at the Islander. The location is perfect - near the end of the Island so it’s not as crowded. We loved the daily beach service! The unit was very clean and well appointed with dishes and cookware. It is updated and so cute! We loved the plantation shutters and the awesome views of the beach from the kitchen and living area. The balcony is large and was a favorite spot. The pool is a great size. Our only complaint would be that there were no pillow cases for the extra pillows (so you may want to bring your own). We would love to stay here again! "

We are always concerned whether or not the pictures of the property really look like the property... Islander 4006 did not disappoint, the pictures looked like they were taken the day we arrived. We loved waking up every morning to the view of the gulf, the abundant natural light, the quiet in the condo, and the sounds of the waves hitting the shore. The inside of the condo was such that it was very spacious, clean and very comfortable. The kitchen was a pleasure to cook in, it had everything we needed to prepare meals with ease. The balcony area was quit large, overlooking the pool and the beach. The furniture inside and out was very nice. This is our new favorite. "

"Condo at Okaloosa Island
The condo was easy to find and as described in the property description, clean and well-maintained. The location and view was spectacular, the most private beach we've ever visited and the pool was nice and never crowded during our stay late July/ early August. It was so nice to have the beach umbrella setup included and one less thing for us to plan for every day. The only thing I would note is the bedrooms and bathrooms are very dark, the lighting is really poor and it's especially hard to find anything in the dresser drawers or see anything when you're in the shower without opening the curtain. It's also a little weird to have the bedrooms adjacent to the breezeway but we only had a problem with noise one time. You just can't open the shutters without being visible to anyone who passes by. But the reason we rented the place was the view from the balcony and that was amazing! We cooked most meals at the condo and it had all the cooking equipment we needed. We also loved Boshamps Seafood in Destin, as recommended by the property manager. We couldn't be more pleased with the is condo. From the staff at check in to the grounds to the condo itself.....amazing! The condo was spotless, had everything you need! The beach chairs /umbrella that were included, were a huge bonus.
My only complaint is that I wish the pool had been was a chilly April for Destin."

"Perfect beach!
This beach is perfect for lounging in the chaises provided, watching dolphins, children playing in the sand and surf. It's a very short walk from the condo to the beach, so going back and forth is quick. The view from the 4th Fl balcony was wonderful at all times of the day.
We were glad that it was so quiet at the condo even tho it was spring break and the front door to the condo is just feet from the elevator and stairs.
In the 2 bedrooms, you lose privacy when opening the shutters because they face the breezeway and all the people using the elevators & stairs. It's a bit cave like keeping it shuttered, but great for sleeping in late.
Bathrooms, laundry and kitchen are good -- clean, updated, operating well.
The decor is unusually bad for a beach condo -- all brown and orange fabrics and dark stained wood furniture. The sleeper sofa was uncomfortable for sitting. We hesitate to recommend this condo only because when you're looking at the decor, you wouldn't even know you're near water. But, again, we spent our days on the beach, at Destin and touring.
We recommend dining at Old Bay Steamer, Harbor Docks, Bochamps, and The Donut Hole. The dolphin cruise was a winner for our family -- probably ideal for children 13 and under.
Overall, this location is great for access to all that Destin offers, a spectacular beach, relaxing views, and great restaurants. The condo has all the amenities you need for a pleasant vacation. It just doesn't look like you're at the beach unless you keep open the shutters for the gulf view."

"The Islander
We had a wonderful stay in 4006. My favorite thing about the Islander is the balcony and that is what brings us back. We have stayed in 3 different units while visiting family in FWB and are always pleased. We wouldn't stay anywhere else on the beach. Already recommended the Islander to a cousin and friend in TN.

My wife and I have stayed in different condo complexes on Okaloosa Island for the past 8 years. This is by far the best of them all. The unit is top notch and remodeled with the highest quality materials. The views of the beach and Gulf are amazing. Last but certainly NOT least is Brooks and Shorey Resorts. They were the epitome of professionalism and made every effort to answer all questions. Check in and out was a breeze and the staff at Brooks and Shorey were courteous and friendly. Our only complaint was having to leave and go back home to reality! We will certainly stay here for all of of future trips to Ft Walton. We highly recommend this unit and Brroks and Shorey."

"Inconsistencies
Beautifully decorated with one jarring exception...ugly "clips" holding very thick cable running up/down walls & around door frames to carry tv cable signal. No decorator would have approved that finish out. Lovely spa-like master bath with only one towel place to hang even a hand towel but plenty of space to install one. Clean baths & kitchen but floors were so gritty & dirty that our feet were black within moments of our arrival. It is a beach location, but this was a result of not properly cleaning the floors. I did a vacuum/wet mop of the tile floor & solved the problem. Lovely views but through windows so dirty it ruined the effect. Cable was available in LR & both BR but no sound on about 1/3 of the channels. Pool has no...repeat no shade available. Some basic tropical/beach landscaping would have made a lot of difference. Bottom line - they tried to make a luxury experience but fell just short . Both the owners & the property managers need to pay more attention to detail in order to make this property top shelf."

Unit 4006 at the Islander Resort on Okaloosa Island is the ideal location. The unit is complete with upgrades, a fabulous balcony, and breathtaking Gulf views. Through ASI we were given some great amenities including a dolphin cruise, golfing, and DVD rentals. Brooks and Shorey were very accommodating and a pleasure to book through. "

We had a GREAT vacation this past week at The Islander (unit 4006. The condo is super nice and the view from the balcony is AMAZING! The only bad experience we had in the condo is the washer and dryer. These were not upgraded along with the rest of the appliances in the condo. It ruined 2 bathing suits, a couple of shirts and put burn marks on several pairs of shorts... Lesson learned on dryer and the rest of the stay was uneventful. We will be back for sure! "

"Reservation Process Unprofessional
I called reservation desk because we were having trouble locating office and it was near closing time. After speaking with representative, I was told they would wait. We arrived at the office no later than 5 minutes and no one would answer door. Once I retrieved key from lock box and got in car two employees exited building and got in their cars which made us have to return to the office by noon the next day or have an additional charge applied to credit card.
Also, when checking out employee did not seem interested in anything that I was telling her about the property."

"Looks pretty but needs a lot of kinks worked out
We love the Islander Beach Resort. This condo looks pretty but lacks comfort. The furniture is new, looks good but sofa is not comfortable. We moved it around so we could sit in the two chairs and see tv. Lacks light. Not even a lamp to read by. One short lamp in living room with 60 w bulb. Beds not comfortable and pillows are the worst. Kitchen only has bare basics nothing extra. But it is beautiful, even has a pantry cupboard. If you cook be prepared to bring utensils with you. Only one working tv during our stay. Dryer leaves black marks on your clothes. Water in showers lukewarm. Furnature on balcony is wonderful. Brooks and Shorey are working hard to fix issues. Thank you Eva. They are the best people to deal with. We were first in condo after remodel. Had a lot of kinks to work out. We wasted several days of our stay waiting for repairmen to come we did not want people in the condo without us being there."

Let me first say that dealing with Brooks & Shorey was a very pleasant experience. They made the booking, checking in, and checking out process very easy. I will definitely use them again. IBR 4006 was a decent condo. The toilet tried to stop up, but luckily there was a plunger. The oven didn't get hot enough. I think it has seen better days and needs to be replaced. In my opinion, the condo could have been a little cleaner (mainly the bathrooms), but I'm a clean freak and notice everything. Since these condos are a little older, I expected a little wear and tear, and overall it was good - nothing intolerable. We spent most of our time outside on the HUGE balcony anyway enjoying the beautiful view. The balcony and view were awesome! Also, I love, love, love that the beach setup was included. That's a huge plus. I spent a lot of time researching places to stay in Destin/Ft. Walton and looked at several realtors' websites, and Brooks and Shorey had the best prices by far. That's another reason I will be using them again in the future."

The condo was exactly as we had hoped - in a quiet(er) area during Spring Break with a nice beach. Unfortunately the exterior corridor light right outside our bedrooms was malfunctioning, creating a strobe light effect all night long, all week, despite our reporting it after the first night. There was mold on the master bath ceiling and in the seam in the bathtub. The children's fishing trip in the amenities package was not available due to the boat being "out of the water for repairs" and no substitution was offered. Despite these things we had a great week. My kids loved the beach, the pool, the cable television, the wifi, fishing off the pier and visiting the forts in Pensacola."
