Located at on Florida’s Southwest Gulf Coast. No bridges or causeways to the island exist, which ensures a relaxed, tropical vacation setting. The island resort encompasses a two-mile portion of private, pristine beaches on the northern end of Palm Island. Guests travel to the island via car ferry and park their car in our island parking area. Transportation is provided by our bell staff and golf carts are also available for rent for registered guests. Enjoy access to one of the 5 heated pools, plus hot tub and gas BBQ grills. Tennis courts available for play and always complimentary. Visitor Reviews (95) Write a Review! "Still Our Favroite Vacation Spot! We have been coming to PIR for close to 30 years and it is by far our favorite place to vacation. The hurricanes have certainly taken their toll on the resort and we hope they are able to recover. While we had a good time, there are some concerns: (1) there was a lot of clusters of debris and trash around the resort that would take little effort to pick up (again, we understand the hurricane damage, but some of these "piles" contained sharp/rusty items that could injure someone (a child) if they are not removed); (2) there were 8 of us (6 adults, 2 children under 2.5) staying in the condo, but we were given only 6 ferry passes for the 8-night stay. That is not enough and seems to be fewer than in the past. We had to take two vehicles off-island anytime we left as a group, which required two ferry passes for each off-island adventure. That limited us to just 3 off-island trips for the 8 night stay. I love Rum Bay, but sometimes you want to go somewhere off the island for dinner, or you don't want to cook on vacation. If you do cook, that requires a grocery trip, which is also an off-island trip. There needs to be an increase in the number of ferry passes for those staying in larger (3-bedroom+) villas and/or larger groups. (3) The unit we stayed in was "nice," but it is very dated, needs at least a thorough scrubbing (wall, ceilings, bathrooms) and a fresh paint job throughout if not a full gut/remodel/update, and it needs additional cookware." The overall place did not meet our expectations and we were immediately offered a new location which was beautiful. Renting a gulf cart is a must during your stay on the island. There are so many beautiful places to explore. We were delighted to watch the mother manatee and her baby. We saw dolphins. We played in the gulf, collected sea shells and enjoyed watching the sunsets. It is a fantastic place to get away from the crowds. We renewed our wedding vows on the beach and my wife even surprised with wearing her wedding dress. We love Palm Island Resorts and will return again. Lastly was the couch didnt open into a bed as stated & one of the beds upstairs was broken. Not an issue but worth mentioning was the decor did not give a beachy feeling. It was large, dark & bulky. One thing I do need to say was the bed in the master bedroom was the absolute best my husband & I ever slept in while on vacation. Better than our bed which is a sleep number!!! The person who took our reservation was very sweet but the front desk lady at check-in could possibly use a vacation." The second unit , though closer to and with even better views of the beach , left a lot to be desired in terms of upkeep and comfort. The rugs were torn and dirty, the air filters filthy,the dining chairs needed to be redone etc, etc, etc... Despite that we all had a wonderful time. From their logo to the pictures on the internet we thought for sure we chose the right place for some much needed R&R. The most positive thing about our trip was the weather,beautiful sunsets and starry nights. The Palm Island resort staff either dont like working there or need some R&R themselves. --When we made our reservations we were told that we could come early and there would be a good chance of our room being ready early, so we got there around 12:45 and it ended up not being ready until after 5pm!. I was told nothing else was available and it wasnt until several frustrating phone calls that they offered us a complimentary meal while we waited longer. --Our villa was nice but was still DIRTY when we finally got into it (hair balls and left over food pieces on the floors and couch,drinking glasses with lipstick marks on them) I ended up vaccuuming and cleaning ALL of the dishes before we even unpacked. --At 7:50am the next morning we were awoken to the loud noise of a pressure washer! The pool patio furniture was being cleaned,but they didnt clean the pool sides that were all grimey and gray. --OVERALL the resort staff is NOT welcoming or friendly--they dont smile or act like they enjoy what they do (except for front desk staff and one very pleasant African American man who welcomes you when you park your car in the lot.)Even as something as simple as waving back when you pass by them in your golf cart. --We ended up picking up trash on the beach when we noticed it was still there from the day before Resort staff could definitely use some customer service lessons to make their guests feel like they are welcomed and wanted back." When checking in, the girl upfront would not indicate if we could check in early or not...she was leaning towards us not being able to and did not look into it any further. Steve came up, check the computer and said the place was ready...just needed a final inspection. Thank goodness Steve was there. The bedroom door on the 3rd level got stuck, while I was inside the bedroom, I was not able to pull it open, and I had to wait two hours before someone came home to let me phone was downstairs. If there had been a fire...I may have gone up with in flames with the place. This was not looked like they had the problem before. We had a wonderful time...you are blessed to have Steve working there...and everyone was very nice. Would go again.
