"Great potential ruined by cheap interior and poor management
I am giving this property credit for an incredible view and allowing dogs. However, our stay was soured significantly as soon as we arrived: the property was not ready at 4:00 pm as stated, so they left us outside in a bad blizzard. Obviously, the management was more concerned about protocol than in our safety. Finally, they gave us the code to enter around 7:00 pm and the cleaning crew arrived around 7:30 pm. If staying at the property, be prepared and bring your own paper/kitchen towels, laundry and countertops cleaning detergents. Some of the furniture is quite outdated. The mattresses and especially the pillows should be replaced. The kitchen area needs a deep cleaning. The fireplace is great but do not expect much from the new hot tub – it opens only halfway so you must take turns to use it.
In conclusion, this property is overpriced in its current condition. I would not return.

"Great neighborhood.
The house was very nice and had a great view. Never had to to leave the place. We got to sled right in the yard and even in the street out front. The one thing I would have liked, is with the amount you are paying for a rental it would have been nice to have the drive way at least have cleared for when we showed up. Before we could unload I have to shovel the driveway just to get the truck out of the street. The drive way was very steep so we could not park all the way up. This made for unloading very hard. I note the other rentals on the street had guys come by and clear the driveway before and after the rentals. Because we got 2ft that day we got plowed in and it took me and hour just to shovel the truck out. Not to mention the shovel that we found at the house was half broken also, so that did it help. But if you are a family of four you will be comfortable. I would not put six people in this house. "

"Nice place
Ok I’m gonna complain first . The driveway is horrible , but all the driveways are so prepare yourself to back in! The house is cute but dated. The interior was very light cabin and cute. It’s a small place perfect for a couple and some kids . The living room has a great fireplace but the couch is old and needs replaced and a second couch needs to be added. The front windows have an amazing view. The owner needs to put up blinds the house cooks you during the mid day sun. My only other complaint is if your paying this much money the thermostat needs to work properly and the beds all need new mattresses! I would definitely stay here again but the few items I pointed out need to be fixed. "

Loved the location, the cabin, and the view was the best! Slightly warm in the afternoon with no window coverings in rear of upper level but we went to the village during those hours so that was ok. I'm sure its cooler later in the year. We would choose that cabin again. Thanks! We had a blast!!"

Great view, lots of issues with this house:
1. Was dirty on arrival. Food in the living room rug, used dental floss, dead bee on kitchen table.
2. Oven would not bake. Broiler only.
3. Broken deck chairs. Splinters and nails coming up on deck.
4. Screen doors don't close, fall off frequently.
5. Dark bedrooms. Light switches don't do anything.
6. Door to water heater not latched or locked.
7. Ice maker doesn't work.
8. Kitchen chair held together with masking tape.
9. No drawers in bedrooms. Nowhere to unpack.
10. Old furniture.
11. Curtain rod support fell. Almost hit my head."

Fantastic views from the patio but property is really old.
Pros
+ kitchen was well stocked with plates, cups, glasses, etc
+ FANTASTIC views
+ hot tub
+ washer/dryer
+ quiet (not a lot of noise from neighbours)
+ board games
+ about 10 mins to grocery stores
Cons
- Painful checkin and checkout process. Property management resolved it finally BUT only after multiple phone calls.
- For some reason Property management wanted me to send a pic of my ID and CC via email. Not a very secure way of requesting that kind of information.
- very old property. Front door will swing open if you don't bolt it shut.
- only 1 bathroom with shower. (advertised as 2). Extremely inconvenient with 7 people waiting to get a shower.
Overall, stay was decent but will be looking elsewhere for our next trip."

"Cozy and snowy
We came up for a couple of days during ski week, between storms. We arrived in town right as the next storm was brewing, and by the time we arrived at the cabin there were 3-4” of snow. The driveway is steep enough and angled so we needed chains to get up it, and our trailer hitch on our RAV4 hit the ground. No damage to the car, but definitely be aware if you have a hitch or low clearance. The property manager were awesome through the whole time, and they sent a plow the next day so we had no trouble getting back up the driveway after we came back from skiing. The hot tub is really nice, there were a bunch of jets doing a pattern on my back and it was perfectly hot and very full.
The bedrooms are downstairs and living spaces upstairs, boys liked the bunk beds. Front room mattress was ok, my husband didn’t like it, but fine for a couple of days. Kitchen was well stocked, everything worked great. DVD player remote was missing, but we made it work for the movie we brought and the kids were happy. We used Netflix on the roku the next night and that works great.
Water heater is new and water pressure is excellent for a nice hot shower. Bathroom has a tub which made the 4yo very happy. All in all a great time taking the kiddos to the slopes for a couple of days, cozy cabin so their noise doesn’t bother anybody. :)"

"Cozy
Excellent view!!! The house was very cozy and clean with plenty of linens. The kitchen has enough utensils to make do with cooking. The knives were extremely dull so I purchased a new one for the house. My dogs loved the fenced backyard.
Overall, this was the perfect house for me and my pups!! I wanted to chill for a few days and that is exactly what I did.
For all of the skiers and boarders, the lifts are just down the road from the house. ��♀️"

"Not impressed for the price
I must say for the price this is not worth it.. for me at least.. first of all it should not be called lake front cause it’s not even close! They should let customers know that the driveway to the house is very steep and has a bunp, so if your car is low it can get damaged going up! The tv’s in the bedrooms do not work! The tv in the living room did not have any cable, or anything else to watch. So if you better have Netflix or Hulu if you would like to have some tv time! There are no dvd’s Or any games to play with the kids if you come as a family! The bedroom small and I didn’t find the beds to be comfortable. Also it would be nice if they at least had a table on the patio.. the only good thing that I enjoyed is the hot tub. But it’s a high price to pay just to sit in a hut tub. I must say it wasn’t what I expected at all! "

"Great 1st Big Bear Experience!
The cabin was perfect for our group of 6. It was not as close to the lake as we thought it would be but the AMAZING view made up for it. I really loved that the kitchen was well equipped. The only negative I can say is that the dining chairs need either fixing or replacing cos theyre not sturdy and some almost coming apart. Overall, it was a GREAT 1stay and would definitely recommend this place! "

"Great Stay
We had a long weekend at this cabin. It SO reminded me of my parent's lake house in NC which is very warm and inviting. It was a little further from the lake than we expected since it specifically said "close to lake", but it was nicely situated with a beautiful mountain view.
We traveled with 3 kids and 3 dogs and found the cabin to be perfect space. The floorboards are VERY loud if anyone is upstairs walking around, but that comes with a cabin. The fenced-in back yard was really great for the dogs once we blocked a couple of gaps at the gates to keep our smallest dog from escaping.
The TVs in the bedrooms do not work...I would suggest just removing them. I called property management to see if we were missing something and was told they could be used with DVDs, but there were no players and we were not aware we should have brought some anyway.
The jacuzzi tub was amazing in the evenings under the stars. The jets were great. The top was a little difficult to put back on, but I guess the previous guests had broken the mechanism because maintenance came out to look at it on our first day.
Very comfortable furniture all the way around. Kitchen had the essentials as well. Hot water is extremely hot...might want to check the heater and turn it down some to conserve and make sure no one gets burned?
The best part was sitting out on the big deck at night under the stars...beautiful."

"Cabin Review
The cabin was alright. The view was great. But there were spider webs throughout the house that had been there for some time. We found spider webs hanging around the refrigerator and inside the front door. The screens should be replaced and the front door needs to be replaced. I also found trash in the back yard that was left. The Bar-b-que was very small and could be updated. The cabin was ok and served our purpose but needs updating. "

"Unbeatable views!
The best part of the cabin was it's second floor with a huge balcony and gorgeous views. Beautiful clean jacuzzi. The kitchen had every cooking utensils imaginable. As for location, it was a little hard to get to in a snow storm. Passing through narrow winding snowy roads for a couple of miles was a challenge. And in the end, we found the driveway and stairs covered with two feet of snow! The "walking" distance to the slopes wasn't that realistic either if you have to carry your skiing equipment and trudge through the snow. But overall, it was a pleasant experience! "

"Snowy Christmas in Big Bear
Everything is exactly as described. The kitchen is fully stocked, down to having four ice trays in the freezer. Satellite TV works perfectly and is a huge addition, especially when stuck in after a snow storm. The hot tub on the porch really is one of the best features and the view is as breathtaking as the pictures make it seem. There are three bedrooms, one which has a bunk bed and two with one bed apiece, plus two couches on the 2nd floor. The property overall is well maintained, with fresh sheets, towels, and clean atmosphere. Booking and checking in/out were very easy and non-intrusive. My only complaint regards snow removal. After getting 19 inches of snow, the roads are plowed, but not the driveway. It would be nice to have someone come by and at the very least clear the driveway. Our party had to spend most of one of our days clearing the snow with the one shovel provided so that we could get our cars out, as well as clearing the multiple sets of stairs so that no one would slip. But if it doesn't snow while you're there, everything is as described, so book without concern. We were all very happy with our stay here."

"Great location - ok rental company
There was a gas grill in the pictures but a charcoal grill was at the property. We definitely would have preferred gas but it was still a great property. The property manager is a little overwhelming. I've used Airbnb in many countries and I've never had as long of a checklist and as many emails and phone calls from a rental company. I think the company would do better to have 5 or less items for checkout and less words in their emails - people would probably respond better to this"

"Canyon Crest
My finance and I decided to take a spur of the moment to Big Bear Lake. Judy was beyond helpful, and accommodated us immediately despite the short notice. The cabin was lovely, and the setting was lovelier. We had a wonderful time."

"Cute Cabin!
Realized once we got there that there were no pictures of the cabin itself - it's two stories on a relatively steep driveway. There's a staircase to enter the place as well. Bedrooms downstairs; main living upstairs. Was very spacious and well equipped for the six of us. Hot tub was great!
Place was a little drafty, but we had enough blankets and heaters to make up for it."

"Nice cabin
This is a nice cabin with a great view. Loved the jacuzzi and the fireplace. Didn't like the fact that management had people come and do repairs on the washer and dryer without giving us any notice. I had young children in the cabin with me and felt uncomfortable. This should have been taken care of before I was aloud to enter the property with my family and friends."

"Great View - full of surprises
This property had an awesome view and at first glance seemed great. We soon found nothing but problems: TV not connected correctly so it wasn't working, hot tub did not get hot and no instructions on how to reset it, refridgerator dripping water, hot water only lasted for one shower and water heater leaked, and the dishes were not very clean. All in all, the house would be great with some updates and repairs."

"Nice Cabin Bad Service
Disappointing service form management company. Code to front door was not given (despite being asked for) until over an hour after check in time, arrived after dark, no lights at all left on, so impossible to see key box. Code given to us was wrong, called company numerous times, very poor customer service. Lamps in property were broken, washing machine full of dirty water, lightbulbs missing, no soap in bathroom, door handles not working, no blankets on the bed, just a thin comforter, and it was 19 degrees outside. internet out during our whole stay, (probably due to bad weather) no one came to clear driveway, which is on a high slope, we had to dig out with one small snow shovel to leave property which took 4 people over an hour. This property does have a great view, a nice open fire, and the place was clean, but its run down, and needs much better upkeep for the amount we were being charged, which was over $700 for 2 nights. Property rental company is non responsive and fairly unhelpful. "

"Christmas in the snow
Excellent location on a plowed road, with a great view. Close to the slopes and dinning, with downtown not 5 minutes away. Long trek up stairs to bring in groceries but worth it once your there. A little drafty with 50MPH winds so bring wood and matches for the fire place. Lots of stairs so plan accordingly for the young and old. Pet friendly with a fenced in yard."

"Great View, Good Location, Average Cabin... Good on budget
The view from the deck was definitely the highlight as you enjoy the evening weather and sunset. Cabin could have had a few more touches to make it nicer. Nothing bad just nothing special, if your looking for a cheap stay this will work."

"Mountain getaway
We got away for a quick family vacation to big bear and so glad we did! The cabin suited all our needs and then some. What a great view, kitchen, and spa. The location of the cabin was pretty good for us -- far enough away and still close. The negatives were -- The beds were not as comfy as home (to be expected) and the cabin could have been a bit more fixed up but everything worked as needed. We did need trash bags and paper towels and requested that twice from management but never got them so we made due with what they had. All in all - great weekend and I would recommend this place and will stay again soon. "
