Oak Haven Lakeside Cottages is a perfect "anytime" lakeside getaway for couples, families, friends, business folks, fishermen, or anyone who loves the peaceful sights and sounds of nature. We are located in Gary, Texas (Panola County), on a quiet cove on beautiful Lake Murvaul. This cozy, peaceful and tranquil setting is the perfect place to relax and enjoy nature. Don't be surprised to see ducks, squirrels, many species of birds, raccoon, turtles, frogs, lizards, egrets, herons, hummingbirds, gulls, and occasional pelicans. During your visit, bring your boat and enjoy fishing, tubing, swimming, and exploring the 3800 acre lake; or spend time in our canoe or peddle boat exploring the peaceful cove. Enjoy swimming from our privately owned dock or fishing right from the bank. Gather around the fire ring and enjoy a campfire in the evenings, or enjoy hanging out on our deck or screened shelter, grillin' and chillin'. Our 800 sf lakeside private cottage is fully equipped, with all of the necessities of home. The cottage sleeps (8)(max of 6 adults please) - a queen bed, 2 twin beds, 2 futon sofas that fold out to full sized beds. Because each changing season brings new adventures and ever changing scenes of nature and wildlife at the lake, it is the perfect year round lakeside retreat for making wonderful memories! Fully equipped kitchen with full size refrigerator with ice maker, microwave, stove/oven, toaster, coffee maker, walk in shower, flat screen TV, DVD player, electric fireplace, central air/heat. Linens and towels provided. DVD library, ceiling fans. Equipped with all dinner wear, utensils, pots/pans....everything you need for cooking.
Includes use of private fishing/swimming pier, fish cleaning table, screened shelter, large deck, picnic table, fire ring, BBQ grill, swing set, use of canoe and peddle boat, games, 10x10 kennel for dogs, large lakefront yard, pet friendly

Activities:

Enjoy fishing, swimming, bird watching, boating, exploring the cove in our canoe or peddle boat, gathering around a campfire, nature watching, playing games in the large yard or in the cozy cottage.
Short drive for grocery shopping and restaurants

Rates:

November - February $110 night, $500 week
March - October $130 night, $650 week
Rates are based on occupancy of (4) guests. Additional person charges of $10 per day and $50 per week for persons 12 years and older.
$10 per night, per pet
$100 security/damage deposit (refundable), or $150 if bringing a pet
Minimum (2) night stay on weekends, (3) nights for holiday weekends
6% hotel occupancy tax in addition to rate

Deposit:

50% deposit required when booking plus security/damage deposit

"Our time spent at the Oak Haven Cottage was just what we needed. The scenery was just gorgeous. My husband loved watching the waterbirds and squirrels. The "lightening bugs" were out and about each evening....been a long time since I have seen lightening bugs. We enjoyed all the amenities listed - especially use of the pedalboat and kayak. Our evening fishing time from the pier was also fun. The cottage was supplied with everything we needed for a wonderful week long stay. The "at- home" feel of the cottage made you feel "at home". We hope to return!!"

"We just returned home from staying at Oak Haven. It was better than advertised, and we enjoyed every bit of our stay. Michael (the owner) met us as we arrived and welcomed us. After that, we settled in, relaxed, and I fished! We were able to "spread out" and do homework, artwork, and fish to our hearts' content. The cottage was very clean, and it had everything we needed. We were not far from a store when we needed something we forgot, and we always seem to forget something. There were plenty of squirrels and birds to watch, and there were also a few water fowl at times. When there was a need with a leak, Michael was there to fix it in a jiffy. Lake Murvaul is a beautiful lake, and I look forward to returning to relax again. Thank you, Michael and Tracy, for a great place to vacation."
