Family Camping: Kerr Lake offers hundreds of wooded tent and trailer campsites, many of them on the water's edge. Both electric hookup and non-electrical sites are offered. Many of the electrical sites have hookups for water directly on the site, but some require up to 100 feet of hose to reach the water hookup.

The majority of the campsites have a picnic table, fire pit/ring or grill, and tent pad. Playgrounds, public telephones, hot showers, restrooms and dump stations are nearby. Campsites are available on a first-come basis for a fee. Reservations may be made for a stay of a week or longer at least one week in advance. The maximum stay in the park is two weeks.

Bullocksville offers 69 tent/trailer campsites, 30 with water and electric hookups. The campground is open the week before Easter through Labor Day. A softball field is located nearby.

County Line offers 84 campsites, 41 with electric hookups. Sites are available for RV and tent/trailer camping. Henderson Point has 79 campsites, 45 with electric hookups. Both campgrounds are open the week before Easter through Labor Day.

Hibernia offers both RV and tent/trailer camping. Out of 150 campsites, 50 sites have electric hookups. The campground is open the week before Easter through the end of October. Also open during this time is Kimball Point with 91 tent/trailer campsites, 23 sites with electric hookups available to RVs.

Nutbush and Satterwhite Point campsites are open year round. Nutbush has 103 campsites, 60 with hookups for RVs. Satterwhite Point has 119 sites, 60 with electric hookups for RVs.

Reservations for campsites are accepted beginning the first working day in January for a minimum of seven nights and no longer than 14 nights. The reservation must be made at least one week in advance, and advance payment must cover the full amount of the reservation. Reservations can be made in person at the park office or can be mailed to the park office with payment. Cancellation of the reservation must be in writing, and a cancellation fee equal to a one-night campsite fee will be deducted from the refund.

Group Camping: Hibernia, Henderson Point and Satterwhite Point have areas set aside for camping clubs and groups. Group campsites provide privacy, drinking water and restrooms. To reserve a campsite, please contact the park office. The Hibernia and Satterwhite Point group sites are open the week before Easter and can be used through the end of October. Group campsites are by reservation only. Reservations may be made for one night and may not exceed 14 nights. These reservations must be made one week in advance and include full payment for the site.

Boydton, Virginia, the county seat of Mecklenburg County, is located, approximately, in the center of the county on U.S. Highway 58. Norfolk is 140 miles to the east, Richmond is 95 miles northeast, Danville is 60 miles west, and Raleigh, North Carolina, is 80 miles south.

Boydton is the county seat of Mecklenburg County government. The last Saturday in October is known as Boydton Day. The fall festival became known when U.S. News and World Report (Nov. 21, 1977) called it, "The Little Town that Refuses to Die." Boydton is located in the heart of Mecklenburg County, Virginia, and is two miles from Kerr Lake and Dam which is locally known as Buggs Island Lake, a home to the world-famous bass fishermen tournaments and to the camping, swimming, skiing, hiking, and boating enthusiasts.
