Just 30 minutes north of Knoxville, Norris Lake was created by the first dam built by the Tennessee Valley Authority, just after the organization was formed in 1933 and it now spreads out to cover 34,200 acres. Norris Lake extends 72 miles up the Clinch River and 56 miles up the Powell River, providing an abundance of secluded coves. The lake has 800 miles of wooded shoreline in this ridge and valley region of Tennessee, with a maximum width of 1.2 miles.
The lake is also nationally known for water-skiing. Smooth water has attracted professional water skiers for many years. It's an ideal environment for sportsmen and vacationers. Norris Lake can be accessed from numerous Eastern Tennessee cities such as Lake City, Caryville, La Follette, Powell Valley, Tazewell, and Maynardville.
If you’re looking for lake home rentals, consider Norris Lake, in East Tennessee. Branching into Anderson, Campbell, Grainger, Union, and Claiborne Counties, Norris Lake offers something for everyone. Adventure seekers, honeymooners, outdoorsy equestrians, and fishing enthusiasts all agree that Norris Lake is the place to go for a true taste of Tennessee.
Seasoned anglers and first-time fishermen alike look to Norris Lake to cast their rods. With around 33,840 acres of fresh water surface to explore, anglers can set their gaze in any direction on the lake, confident they’ll get a bite. After all, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, spotted bass, crappie, and walleye populate the waters in large numbers. Smallmouth bass fishing is especially good in Norris Lake; winter winds bring the fish to the rocky shores while spring pushes them toward the main channel. A lakefront rental home provides you easy access to the excellent fishing year round.
You don’t have to have a fishing rod in your hand to enjoy Norris Lake. Lake home renters know there’s a good time to be had both in and out of the water. Numerous designated riding trails along the shoreline and into the backcountry make Norris Lake a premium destination for horseback riding. Also, lake goers can partake in water sports of all kinds by renting boats, jet skis, pontoons, and other recreational vehicles and toys.
Exchange your fishing pole for a golf club and head to any area golf course for some quality time on the fairway. The Greens at Deerfield borders the lake itself, ensuring that your long drive down the center is graced by a suitably spectacular backdrop. The Centennial Golf Course brings the game to the wild, incorporating a rich forest landscape into the design of the course. Complete with a putting green, driving range, and professional lessons, Woodlake Lodge, Golf, and Country Club offers a picturesque lakefront golf experience that includes unparalleled amenities. Think about making golf part of your lifestyle by living on one of Norris Lake’s area golf courses. < a href="https:\\www. golfhomes.com" target="_blank" class="links16">Visit GolfHomes.com for property listings and details.

The Complete Tennessee Angler:
Everything You Need to Know about Fishing in the Volunteer State
(For more information, click on the cover photo above)
Fishing is the most popular activity on the Norris Lake. Fish varieties include walleye, sauger, white bass, crappie, striped bass, catfish, bluegill, largemouth and smallmouth bass and spotted bass. Catches of Brown and Rainbow trout are abundant. Fishing guide service is available.
Fishing follows seasonal patterns. Most winter fishing is concentrated in the headwaters of the reservoir and in the mouths of tributary streams. In early spring, some species begin spawning runs. Walleye and sauger travel upstream into the Clinch and Powell Rivers.
Good reservoir fishing is available from March through June. Crappie fishing is best in April and early May. Bass and walleye fishing peaks in May and June. Hair jigs and deep running plugs are effective for most species in early spring. Spinners and worms are standard walleye bait.
During summer months, night fish for white bass and white crappie using live bait and lights. Black bass fishing, particularly small mouth, picks up again in the fall. White bass, white crappie, and walleye are caught by shallow trolling and still fishing with minnows.
