REMODEL PLANNED. This lovely old home has one of the best locations on the island. The owners are planning to remodel, but in the meantime, they are offering it for rent at a discounted rate to guests who can tolerate a dated house in exchange for the incredible beachfront location and views.
SPECIAL NOTE FOR SUMMER RENTALS: the main living areas do not have a/c, only the bedrooms and guest house are air conditioned.
Relax in total privacy on a pristine gorgeous beach. Oceanfront family home and separate guest house/art studio directly overlook 165 feet of pink sand beach with gentle clear turquoise sea (protected by coral reef, so great for kids & swimming). Coral powder-soft sand is cool to walk on at all times and there is 5 miles of beach to stroll. Very private location (rarely see neighbors). Windermere Island is a secure gated island community just over tiny bridge from main island of Eleuthera. Bone fishing and snorkeling are at your doorstep.
The architect-designed 'Ho-Hum' house is filled with sunshine and views tucked away amidst the beautiful Bahamian landscape. There are two spacious bedrooms in the main house. The master has a king bed, office nook and private gated garden off master bath with outdoor shower. The 2nd bedroom has 2 twin beds (easily convertible to king). Both bedrooms have en-suite full baths and patios. Bedrooms book-end a large high-ceilinged living room with dining area, full kitchen and gorgeous large sunroom/breezeway with large dining table and sitting area (with a good quality comfortable futon for kids or an extra sleeper). The entire house has a wrap-around ocean view patio for sunbathing and outdoor dining.
A separate guest house/art studio, also overlooking the ocean, is just 100ft from main house. It has 2 twin beds (easily convertible to king) and a small/child-size bed nook. Guest house has kitchenette, full small bath and it's own ocean view patio. There is also a large island with an extra artist's sink and huge wide counter space for artwork projects (some easels available too). Views of the beach and sea are every where!

The village of Savannah Sound is just a few minutes away by car, home of the new and acclaimed Fishbone Beach Bar and Grill, located right on the sound. There’s also a grocery store, Midway Cost Cotters, in Savannah Sound. The towns of Palmetto Point and Tarpum Bay are ten minutes away. Both have several stores and restaurants. The main town of Governors Harbour, 25 minutes away, has grocery stores, restaurants, liquor stores, two banks with ATMs, a bakery, gift shops, a dive shop, and a medical clinic. It has a nice little collection of 19th century homes and churches overlooking a picturesque harbor. You can buy fresh fish and lobster every afternoon from fisherman at the town dock. Friday night Fish Fry in Governors Harbour is a street/beach party that brings together all the tourists and locals with food, drink, and dancing in the street. You won’t want to miss it.
Rates are on a sliding scale based on the number of guests. We set the rates this way to make the property more affordable for smaller groups who use less utilities and put less wear and tear on the house. If you enter the correct number of guests, the reservation system will calculate the rates correctly.

The standard cancellation policy is below. Note that some properties have more or less restrictive policies. Please see the rental agreement provided by your rental agent for details.
Cancellation of or changes to your reservation must be made in writing (e-mail or fax is acceptable). If you cancel more than 90 days before your scheduled arrival, 20% of the total rental amount will retained by Homeowner and the balance refunded to you. If you cancel 90 days or less before your arrival, 100% of your total rental fee will be retained by Homeowner. No-shows, late arrivals, or early departure for any reason, including but not limited to inclement weather or illness, are non-refundable. Homeowner recommends trip insurance to protect Renter against loss from such events.

"The most relaxing vacation ever
Ho Hum is truly a magical place! My grandparents built this wonderful house back in the late 60s and being able to bring my family here and share this amazing place with them was a once in a life time experience.
The house is still as beautiful and charming as ever and the beach is the just as private and spectacular as when I was a little girl.
As my grandparents used to tell us when we would visit years ago, getting here isn't easy but if it was it wouldn't be so special.
Being at Ho Hum is worth the effort to get there.
The only thing you can do there is get relaxed!
And that is what we did. We swam, snorkled at the reef (we saw sea turtles, rays, an octopus and lots of tropical fish) woke up to stunning sunrises, star gazed at night and simply slowed down.
Ho Hum is island living at it's best."

Ho Hum is a wonderful house steps from the gorgeous beach. It was clean and though a little tired, everything worked and Wallace and Tina who help take care of the house were very responsive and welcoming. A heavenly place to spend a vacation!!"

"Really beautiful house, on a stunning beach.........BUT?
Our party of four, 2 couples, were warned by the booking agent that Ho Hum was tired, but we wanted to be on Windermere Island, as we knew the beach was magnificent. We looked forward to 3 relaxing weeks. Ho Hum is a magnificent home, with awesome views, and the interior is lovely,
Had we been staying for only 1 week, we would probably have overlooked a lot of the numerous things that needed fixing, but over the course of 3 weeks, it is important that a house functions well. Then a horrible thing happened! Two rats and a mouse appeared in the master bedroom. We should have realized on our arrival that there were rodents in the room, as a chest of drawers was chewed around the top and bottom edges, we informed the caretaker, who sent over 3 live rat traps, by day 3 of seeing very obvious signs that rats were living in the room, we informed the agent, that we could no longer stay in the house, and we’d like our money back. The listing agent proceeded to find us alternative accommodation, while we went back and forward with the owner, negotiating how much of our money should be returned. The contract does not cover anything about rat infestation,which the owner pointed out to us, telling us she was in no way obligated to return any of our money, as we were choosing to leave. Finally she returned 2weeks plus1 day, and also returned our $1000 security deposit. There were so many thing damaged and broken in the home, it really didn’t seem reasonable to pay a $1000 security deposit. We did inform the caretaker on our arrival of all the things that were broken.
My overal impression of Ho Hum is that there needs to be considerable renovations done on the house. At no time did the owner offer to send an exterminator to deal with the problem. This is a lovely house that has been allowed to slip into a state of disrepair, but with rats and mice lurking around in the bedroom and living room we had no choice but to leave. We lost 4 precious days of our vac"

Recently stayed here and could not have been more happy. 5 stars across the board. From the condition of the house, to the privacy of the beach, to the overall joy from everything combined. This house is definitely a paradise retreat. Could not have imagined staying anywhere else, and cannot wait to be back! "House was Ho Hum
A stay on Windermere Island is a treat, as a quiet retreat the Ho Hum House is tired. Clean enough, but beach houses near the ocean need upkeep inside and out: holes in bed sheets, kitchen appliances worn out or not working, no hangers or dresser in the second bedroom, outdoor showers non-existent although website indicated otherwise. Management, housecleaner and property manager very responsive, however."

"Family fun
The Gagnon family arrived a day late due to the our flight was in an hour late. We spent the night in fort Lauderdale. We finally arrived and were thrilled to see the breathtaking views of Ho Hum house. As our week went on we went scuba diving snorkeling swimming and beaching . The house was perfect for our family. We noticed that the house is getting a bit run down and needs some things fixed. We really did not care though because it was fun for us all. "

"Relaxing Get Away
This home is private and the beach is the nicest we have ever seen. Location is A+. The home, staff and amenities get a B, but we would stay here again. Would bring more provisions, books and games the next time as there is nothing to do after dark and the bugs start biting at dusk. Views are magnificent!"
