Welcome to Moonflower! This lovely beachfront home sits on Gaulding Cay, one of the most beautiful beaches in Eleuthera. Gaulding Cay Beach, on the Caribbean side of Eleuthera, features famously calm water and beautiful sunset views. This 4 bedroom, 3 bath house is stylishly decorated with native Bahamian artwork, local paintings, and paintings from Mallorca. Bedrooms feature custom headboards and other custom furniture. The bedrooms are named "Star", "Horseshoe", "Anchor", and a 4th bedroom still awaiting a name.
"Star" bedroom features a breathtaking ocean view with direct deck access and an en suite bathroom. Star has a king bed, and an extra twin bed can be placed in the room if needed. "Horseshoe" features garden views and tropical colors. It also has a king bed. "Anchor" features garden views and direct front porch access. It has a king bed, and can fit an extra full bed and a twin bed if needed. The fourth bedroom, as yet unnamed, also has a king size bed.
Lounge in the comfortable Adirondack chairs on the front porch or gaze at the stars from the beautiful beachfront deck. Kayak or snorkel out to the actual Gaulding Cay. This property also features an outdoor shower and garden with native flowering plants.
Moonflower is the ideal setting for a beach wedding/destination wedding. We have hosted weddings here and would be delighted to host yours. Ask us for details.
Amenities include air conditioning throughout, WIFI, flat screen TV with DVD player (but no cable TV), washer and dryer, outdoor dining area with gas grill, and two kayaks.
Gaulding Cay Beach, like all beaches in the Bahamas, is public. Tourists and locals (particularly on local holidays) will visit this beautiful beach, but more often than not you will have it to yourself. As the beach access road is beside Moonflower, cars may be parked there. However, more often than not, the beach will be completely deserted and you will have it entirely to yourself. Moonflower is located two miles from the village of Gregory Town. Gregory Town has the best gift shop on the island, Pam’s Island Made Gift Shop, featuring handmade art and crafts from around the Bahamas. Nearby restaurants and night spots include The Cove, newly renovated and featuring continental cuisine with Caribbean flair and an infinity edge pool. The Rainbow Inn is famous for its steaks and fresh vegetables from its organic garden. It offers live entertainment several nights a week, and is frequented by the island’s favorite musical celebrity. Also nearby is Daddy Joe’s, a local bar and night spot just down the road. A 15-minute drive takes you to The Bluff, which has the biggest supermarket on the island. A 20-minute drive plus a short water-taxi ride takes you to Harbour Island, with its many restaurants, shops, and straw market. Governor’s Harbor, half an hour away, has numerous beach restaurants.

If you cancel 90 days or less before your arrival, 100% of your total rental fee will be retained by Homeowner. No-shows, late arrivals, or early departure for any reason, including but not limited to inclement weather or illness, are non-refundable. Homeowner recommends trip insurance to protect Renter against loss from such events.

"Love location
Rough start with issues with electricity and water. It was resolved by the end of the day. We absolutely loved the location of the Moonflower. Gaulding Cay was our favorite beach. We enjoyed a day trip to Harbor Island. The Beaches of Eleuthera book at the house was very helpful, we visited quite a few of the top ranked beaches and loved them. The house was average clean. We did have issues with mice. We had a bag of chips closed on the countertop that got chewed on, so we put all our food in the refrigerator and were very prompt to take out the trash. We did end up catching mice in the bottom of our trash can. The island is not heavy with tourists. Many times we had beaches to ourselves. The WIFi was spotty and we didn’t find anything on TV which our teenagers didn’t enjoy, but it was actually not a bad thing if you are looking to “unplug”."

"Perfect House on a Perfect Beach
Moonflower was perfect for our family of two couples, two young children, and one single son. When we checked in it was exceptionally clean. The beds & bedding were comfortable, the kitchen had plenty of dishware, and the layout & location could not be better. You can walk right out to the beach in seconds and watch the sunset from the side porch. Do be aware that things like dishwashers and electricity don't always work perfectly in the Bahamas. And while we enjoyed many quiet times with no or few people on the beach, on two out of our 10 evenings there were parties in the parking area/pine grove which is between the house and beach. Fortunately, the participants were well behaved and left after the sun set. This is a wonderful place for children who enjoy sand and water activities. And for adults, too. We enjoyed snorkeling, paddle boarding, and kayaking in the calm, clear water while the kids loved being in their floats. Moonflower, Gaulding Cay, and Eleuthera are paradise! "

"Moonflower house rental July 2022 Eleuthera
The Moonflower was clean and ready for us when we arrived. Directions to the house were accurate and easy to follow. The pictures and description list was accurate. The grill apparently takes charcoal, not agas grill as listed. That's something we hadn't planned on but could have bought charcoal at the grocery store if we'd have known we needed. I contacted Lady Di a couple times during our stay and she was quick to respond. We did see locals hanging out on the public beach in front of our house and none of them was an issue. From reading other reviews we learned to expect this. That was ok with us, a few people per day came. There are several neighbors who own dogs and they play on the beach and are all very friendly. I was able to drag a straight back chair down to the beach to enjoy my morning coffee. All the other lounge chairs and recliners on the property (front porch, side of house, and far back end of property under a gazebo) are chained down and locked with padlocks so I couldn't move any of them. I have never stayed anywhere before where furniture was chained down, from expensive rental house on many different islands to 5 star hotels. For an island that boasts near 0% crime rate, the message that chained up furniture sends is that this is not a safe place. It wasn't just inconvenient. I don't suppose it mattered because there weren't any cushions for any of the chairs to be found. It was very appreciated that there was plenty of snorkel equipment available so we cleaned some of it off and used it and also really appreciated that two beautiful kayaks were sitting on the front lawn ready for us! We used the kayaks and really enjoyed them in the calm turquoise waters right in front of the house. Next time we are on Eleuthera we would definitely consider staying at the Moonflower again. "

"Paradise!
We, along with another family, rented Moonflower for a week in July. The only negative, it wasn’t long enough! We were 4 adults and 5 kids and I can say we were never felt like we were on top of each other. There was tons of room and the layout of the house is perfect for accommodating bigger groups very comfortably. Lady Di was great, and made our arrival memorable. The house is breathtaking and spotless! . The location is also beyond perfect. We have been to the Bahamas a few times now and Gaulding Cay beach is quite possibly the best beach I’ve seen yet. Absolutely calendar perfect, and ideal for kids seeing it remains shallow for hundreds of feet. At low tide you can actually walk cove to cove. The snorkeling is awesome too! Daddy Joe’s is a fantastic little restaurant across the main road , fabulous food, drinks, and people! The Bahamian people are reason enough to visit these quiet islands, you would be hard pressed to find a more welcoming people anywhere! We cannot recommend Geeta’s Moonflower enough, if you are looking for laid back, peaceful, and breathtaking then this house, and Eleuthera, are for you! "

This 4 bedroom, 3 bath Gaulding Cay home was just right for our family. Moonflower is right on the gentle, beautiful Caribbean Sea. It offers a well equipped kitchen and plenty of linens and towels. For outdoor fun they provide rafts, chairs and even 2 nice kayaks. On the rare occasion we had to contact the manager someone responded quickly."

"Beautiful home, amazing location, perfect vacation getaway.
My stay at Moonflower was wonderful. The location is amazing as it is steps away from the beautiful white sands and turquoise waters of the the tranquil Caribbean sea. The home is within a short drive to several restaurants and stores, although the location is rural and tucked away off the main road, so you feel as though you're on your own private piece of paradise. The gardens around the home are lovely and are great for leisurely walks and relaxing. The home itself is beautiful and is decorated with bright, cheerful art and furniture. It is very spacious with a light, airy feel. There are lovely views from every window and opening them to let in the ocean breezes is amazing. The porches are a perfect place to relax, read, or enjoy a snack. The home is fully stocked with everything you'd need - from towels and linens, to dishes and cookware, to books and local activity guides, etc... The 4 bedrooms are comfortable and can accommodate quite a few guests. The kitchen is great for cooking and the large dining area easily hosts a large family/group. The living room is cozy and opens to beautiful views of the sandy beach and water. The location is very safe and the grounds are the perfect area for children to go outside to play and freely explore nature. If you are looking for a location to escape the busyness/noise/stress of city life while relaxing in a tropical paradise, this home is the perfect place.

"Great Week at MoonFlower!
We spent a fantastic week at Moonflower. The location/setting was great. Our party included our 17-month old grandson. What a great beach for him. No waves-just clear, warm, shallow water to play in. The house itself was great with A/C in each bedroom and in living areas. We enjoyed the benefits of having a grill in the backyard and a washer/dryer available for our use.

"Moonflower review
We absolutely loved Gaulding Cay Beach, especially with little kids. It was your front yard and we greatly enjoyed it.
The owner and housekeeper for Moonflower were wonderful to work with. Very nice. However, the house really needed some tlc. The size was great and fit two families perfectly however it was very cluttered, everything seemed very old and on the verge of breaking. When I opened my closet door the first day, it fell off. Linens seemed very old, the fitted sheet barely stayed on the beds. Washing machine took a couple tries to work, front bedrooms air conditioner made clinking noises every couple minutes, front bathroom sink was having trouble draining by the end. It just felt very run down."

"Amazing family getaway!
We flew into North Eleuthera and had a rental car waiting. We stopped for groceries in our way. When we arrived at the house, we were greeted by Lady Di who showed us around. The house was perfect and it was right on the beach. The AC was nice and cool. We swam everyday and went snorkeling around Gaulding Cay which was surrounded by tropical fish, starfish and rays. This was the perfect quiet family vacation. We chartered a boat one day with Captain Ryan for a day and went fishing and sight seeing and snorkeling around the island. There is a TV DVD player at the house but there is not an HDMI plug into TV and there is no Satellite. WiFi at the house is a bit spotty and the DVD player does not play Blue Ray. If you want to watch anything on TV bring it on DVD. The house comes with a 5 gallon water cooler and 5 gallons of water. We plan on going back next year! "

"Perfect week at a perfect house!
I rented Moonflower house for my 50th birthday and brought a few friends and it couldn’t have been more perfect! The house is large and comfortable and very clean and is located on the most beautiful beach I have visited in Eluthera. I wish I never had to leave and all my guests felt the same way. Lovely decor, comfortable rooms and beds, excellent air conditioning, big kitchen and an outdoor shower..what else do you need? Lady Di is an absolute delight and so are her sauces and jellies, don’t miss trying them! We will be back for sure!! "

"Best trip of my life
We stayed at Moonflower over spring break this year. There were 2 families, both with kids, and the house was perfect. The adults stayed in the rooms on each end of the house, with their own bathrooms and the kids stayed in the middle 2 rooms, with a bath that they shared. We caught fresh fish and the kitchen had everything we needed to create many delicious meals at the home. We snorkeled everyday (bring your gear!) and the beach in the backyard was breath taking, so many beautiful fish and water that will take your breath away! The water is very shallow and therefore is great for kids and floating in a float! There are only a few houses along the beach so it was very private. The house has a wonderful living room and everyone had plenty of space to relax. We played games and puzzles on the large dining room table and the washer and dryer were a life saver. The island of Eleuthra is such a natural beauty, we explored from north to south and each day was amazing! We all agreed that this was the best trip we have ever taken."

"What a great holiday!
Eleuthera has a very chilled vibe, people very friendly, children unfailingly polite, very few tourists although it was the end of the season when we visited. Beaches are beautiful. If you want to get away from it all, whilst still having access to civilisation you cant do much better than Eleuthera. Food is expensive,approximately 2 x prices in UK, and don't expect the choice you might be used to at home. Moonflower itself is suited to the overall feeling of the island, very relaxed, plenty of room, comfortable and nicely appointed without being blingy. There were a few things which could do with updating / replacing but nothing serious. There is a decent sized garden surrounding the house, but you will spend all your time on the beach which is really beautiful. The water is shallow, crystal clear and sheltered from the prevailing wind. If you like to snorkel, Gaulding Cay is nice, we saw Nassau Groupers, a big snapper, a huge eagle ray, schools of Blue Runners, angel fish, and big shoals of silversides. There isn't much coral but what there is is in good condition. Twin Sisters beach to the North also has a couple of Cays, also good snorkelling and we saw lobster, puffer fish and moray eels on both. The best snorkelling is to the South - take the canoes past Kravitz beach, a small rock breaks the surface at the end of the cliffs. From here onwards it's really good - massive rays, morays, turtles, nice coral. Other good things - the Sapphire Hole about 1/2 mile on the right before you reach Preachers Caves, great fun. Harbour Island - golf carts, cracked conch and beer on the beach. Daddy Joes restaurant. Breakfast at the Cove ($25 per head relatively good value). All the beaches. Lady Di and her lovely family. Great memories."

"Peace and Beauty @Moonflower, Gaulding Cay
Moonflower is a very spacious home and it slept our party of 9 very well and everyone had plenty of personal space. It was a short 30 second stroll from front door to toes in the sand. Gaulding Cay Beach is stunning and we shared it with just a few people during our stay. The locals like to use the beach and everyone of them were great people. We found a large conch and a couple locals cleaned it up for us and they were awesome to the kids. Moonflower is a short drive to many other beautiful beaches. We got our fuel and food from Seven Eleven in Gregory Town just a 10 minute drive away. Also, had a beautiful breakfast at The Cove Resort a short 5 minute drive away. Moonflower has everything you need for a great vacation. We enjoyed the kayak, paddle board, and other beach toys that come with the house. I wish the home would have advertised a paddle board because I shipped mine from California for a pricey fee :( I would of definitely left it at home had I known. The A/C ran great and we were very comfortable. Plenty of kitchen accessories for cooking yourself and saving some money. We found everything we needed. Lady Di was awesome!! She took good care of us and was such a blast to chat with. We purchased many of her jams and hot sauces to take home. Amazing....The owner Geeta was so nice and professional every time we communicated via email. As well, the staff at Eleuthera Vacation Rentals was spot on too... Eleuthera is a special place and I hope to make it back there some day. Our trip was one to remember and I highly recommend Moonflower and Eleuthera...Happy Travels!"

"Paradise in Eleuthera
Outstanding stay at Moonflower. Beach was perfect for our grandkids..lots of floats and sand toys! Adults were thrilled as well. "Fantastic Vacation Home on the beach
We had the most relaxing vacation ever. The Kids could walk into the shallow, clear waters in the calm Gaulding Bay. We snorkeled basically straight from the beach outside the house over to the island. Comfy home, spectacular location, and the personal touch from Lady Di (delicious home-made jam and pepper sauce, fresh bananas and papayas right off her farm ) made for a truly memorable experience. We were nine people (5 of them kids, ranging an ages from 5 to 15) and everyone had plenty of space. Bring books and games (leave the TV and wireless devices off) and unplug totally. You won’t regret it. We would love to be back in the future!"

"A Nice Week at Moonflower
First time at Moonflower but the second time at Gaulding Cay so we knew the beach was gorgeous.
The house is spacious and well laid out. The internet was great, even down at the beach. Everything you need in the kitchen is available and plenty of linens and blankets.
Some basic maintenance is needed:
- the master shower would not drain at all starting on the first day so not useable
- The fan does not work in the master
- The drain in the second bathroom would not drain
- Two of the screens in the second bedroom would not stay in which is an issue with the bugs
- We only saw Lady Di at check-in so the outside trash was never emptied and the animals scattered the trash around the yard
There are only 2 beach chairs for a house which sleeps 10 which is pretty silly.
The fact that the public beach access is the same road as the house is a bit annoying as we had cars in the backyard nearly every day. Not a big deal until they brought kids and hung out in the exact same spot as we were sitting

A beautiful home on a beautiful beach on an outstanding island best describes Moonflower. We have stayed in many other rentals on Eleuthera and this one is our favorite. We found our caretaker "Lady Di" to be quick to address any concerns and share with us her wonderful Pineapple Jam and Hot Sauce to boot! The folks in Gregory Town are the best and we look forward to our visit next year!"

Moonflower is in an amazing location with great access to the beach and walking distance to a fun restaurant. Any issues or questions we had were handled promptly by Lady Di! There are kayaks available and the home is very comfortable! Can’t wait to come back to Eleuthera! Waking up and having coffee overlooking an amazing beach is quite a treat! "
