Welcome to Gumbo Limbo! We are located on the prestigious Banks Road of Governors Harbour, the most sought-after location on Eleuthera. This area is called the Golden Mile, a stretch of island with pink sand beaches, patch reefs and great restaurants and cafes. We are 5 minute walk from famous Tippy’s beachfront restaurant and bar, and a 3 minute drive from the beautiful and charming town of Governor's Harbour, where you will find grocery stores, restaurants, coffee shops, liquor stores and gas stations, along with many lovely historic homes.
We have just completed out new saltwater pool! There is a fee of $400 per week to heat the pool.
Gumbo Limbo is a short 150 yard walk down our deeded path to an ideal beach with clear blue water and soft pink sand. If you like walking the beach, you can head for Tippy's restaurant to eat or venture further to Club Med Beach or Culmer's Rocks.

The house is surrounded by native tropical vegetation which creates a peaceful, private setting. Gumbo Limbo features a spacious wrap-around veranda with a glimpse of the ocean. Our lovely veranda has both covered and uncovered areas, to read, relax, sunbathe, and enjoy the refreshing island breezes.
The house is single story with 9-foot ceilings. It was remodeled in 2022 and has a tasteful coastal décor. The central living space is great for relaxing and entertaining. It has an open concept with 2 comfortable sofas surrounding a large screen TV with cable and wifi in the family room. There are books, games, puzzles and movies. The living room flows into the dining area which has a table that can seat 8. The modern kitchen is equipped with stainless steel appliances and looks out over the living space.
The master bedroom suite has an elegant ceiling of cypress boards and contains a king size bed. The master has a large en-suite bathroom with walk-in tiled shower, garden tub and dual sinks. The front guest bedroom has a queen size bed and en-suite bathroom with tub and shower. The back guest bedroom has two sets of bunk beds. The guest bedrooms both have sliding doors to the veranda.
The house has central AC in all rooms as well as a large capacity washer and dryer. Free WIFI throughout the house. There's also a 5 gallon water dispenser, two sea kayaks, pack n play cribWeber charcoal grill, beach chairs, beach umbrellas, waveboards, and snorkel sets are included with the rental as well. We also have a backup generator!

Cancellation of or changes to your reservation must be made in writing (e-mail or fax is acceptable). If you cancel more than 90 days before your scheduled arrival, 20% of the total rental amount will retained by Homeowner and the balance refunded to you. If you cancel 90 days or less before your arrival, 100% of your total rental fee will be retained by Homeowner. No-shows, late arrivals, or early departure for any reason, including but not limited to inclement weather or illness, are non-refundable. Homeowner recommends trip insurance to protect Renter against loss from such events.

Gumbo Limbo was a great place for our family to stay in Eleuthera. It’s just down the road from Tippy’s which was a good place to eat. We really wanted to stay more central on the island, near Governor’s Harbour because we knew we’d be doing activities all over the entire island. Gumbo Limbo was positioned well - near Governor’s, close to Palmetto, within driving distance of everything we wanted to do. The house has a beautiful beach just across the road, to include kayaks, snorkel gear, beach chairs, etc. The house was super clean - Carol takes care of the place. She’s incredibly sweet and welcoming; she does a great job! Etienne did the yard/garden work and he’s also a good dude. Good internet, clean water, good kitchen setup, comfy beds and furniture. I could go on. We have no complaints whatsoever about this place!"

"Fantastic brand new house with everyting you need
Carol (the property manager) was exceptional. Briefed us fully on everything at the house and showed us everything we could possibly need. The house is fully equipped with everything to make the stay as hassle free and as fun as possible.
Everything was well organised and clean, and our stay there was comfortable.
The beach across the street is stunning and easily accessible, I just regret we didn't get to try the kayak's that were available to us."

Beautifully appointed. Clean. Amanda the property manager was friendly, prompt and arrived immediately when we encountered a small problem at the home. I would recommend Gumbo Limbo. It is not beach front but you can see the ocean from the front porch and it is a short walk to the beach and to Tippy’s. "

"Perfection
This is our fourth Easter on Eleuthera and our stay at Ocean Trace was the best by far. The house was clean, fresh, spacious and and perfectly comfortable for our family of 5. To sum it up, what makes this property a stand out are these three factors...The amazing wrap around porch where you'll sit for hours dining or lounging, a two minute walk to the most beautiful beach and a 5 minute drive in any direction to the best restaurants and charming town of Governors Harbor.

"Christmas in Eleuthera
We spent Christmas week at Ocean Trace and it was perfect. The house is furnished beautifully and spacious enough for the 6 of us. The grandkids loved the beach which was a short walk across the street. After searching 4 or 5 snorkeling spots, we found our beach to be the best! Restaurants were good but very expensive!"

"Clean, comfortable and convenient!
Ocean Trace was the first of two rental homes my friends and I stayed in during our visit to Eleuthera. What a nice, clean welcome Ocean Trace provided. The home is spacious, bright, cool and clean. A home away from home. We did not want for anything in this well-equipped and comfortably furnished home. We had easy to access Wi-Fi, cable TV, movies, games and every appliance and item of cookware you could want. An added bonus is the expansive decking around the home. The deck furniture is comfortable and gives plenty of cover from the sun.
Arnold and Patsy greeted us warmly and took their time giving us a tour of the home and orienting us to the location. Speaking of location; Ocean Trace is a short walk (basically the edge of the property) to a deeded path and wood steps down to the beach. If you feel like taking a longer walk up Banks Road or the beach you will find a well-established restaurant and bar called Tippys. Ocean Trace is located only a short drive to the town of Governors Harbour which has everything you need; grocery stores, gas station, bakery, liquor stores, restaurants, etc. An easy trip that we ended up doing daily for one thing or another.
Of course, the beach (the main thing we come to Eleuthera for) is incredible. The beach is clean, quiet and absolutely beautiful. We enjoyed the relative solitude and found every passerby to be friendly.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Ocean Trace and would recommend this home for a comfortable vacation stay. This home is perfect for a family or two with children as the 3rd bedroom offers bunks that will sleep four.
The staff at Eleuthera Vacation Rentals, Pam, Matt & Tara, will be honest and helpful in determining if Ocean Trace is the right fit. I hope it will be and I hope you enjoy it as much as we did. "

"A wonderful place to stay
We had a wonderful stay at Ocean Trace with our three teens. The house is modern and the kitchen is well equipped (we were even able to bake a cake!). The house is situated on a quiet spot and one can hear the ocean through the open windows. It is a VERY short walk to the ocean and we actually liked being a bit away since it gave us added privacy. Arnold and Patsy (who takes care of the house) were waiting for us when we arrived, even though our flight was late and we didn't arrive till late. They genuinely cared and made sure we had all we needed. The owners clearly care about the house and it is well maintained. Banks Rd is close to Governors Harbor, if one needs any groceries, and the beaches are some of the best on the island with plenty of swimming, snorkling, and walking. This is our new favorite spot in Eleuthera!"
