Welcome to On the Rocks, a secluded beachfront estate with pool located directly on Unicorn Cay Beach, a mile-long stretch of pink sand. On the Rocks is located on the Banks Road of Governors Harbour, the premier location on the island, a four minute drive from town and a 15 minute walk down the beach to famous Tippy’s beachfront restaurant and bar.
In addition to its mile-long beach, On the Rocks also features a unique sheltered beach area, where the water is often as calm as a lake, protected by a natural jetty of rock. Called the Venus Pool, this sheltered swimming and beach area is perfect for small children, or anyone who enjoys calm water.
The pool is heated with a solar pool heater. Note that solar pool heaters are less effective during overcast periods, so a solar heater cannot guarantee a warm pool.
Inside the estate home, the large great room with vaulted ceiling enjoys sweeping ocean views, as does the den /TV room, two of the bedroom suites, and the studio apartment.
There are 4 bedrooms in the main house, each with en-suite bathrooms and positioned so each room enjoys complete privacy. The 2 large ocean facing bedrooms have king size beds, or one can be made into 2 singles. The other bedrooms are one queen and 2 singles.
In addition, there is a den/TV room with two day beds suitable for children. With the day beds, the main house can sleep up to 10 guests. (THIS ROOM HAS AN OVERHEAD FAN BUT NO AC.)
On the Rocks also has a detached studio apartment with a queen bed, a full bath, and a kitchenette that can be added to the rental for $1000 per week. With the studio included, On the Rocks has 5 bedrooms and can sleep up to 12 guests.
On the Rocks has a/c and ceiling fans throughout except in the TV Room, which has an overhead fan. Amenities include back-up generator, two kayaks, WIFI, Apple TV, washer/dryer, CD players, along with a good library of books, backgammon and other games also in the house. Beach umbrellas are also included.
The town of Governor's Harbour, 3 miles from On the Rocks, has all necessary shops, banks, travel agent, grocery stores, gift shops and restaurants. It is picturesque and unspoiled. There are no large hotels or casinos on Eleuthera. It is a beautifully quiet and peaceful island. There are many beaches to explore!
A separate one-bedroom cottage called Pebbles is close to On the Rocks and can be rented along with it for larger groups.
Rates are on a sliding scale based on the number of guests. We set the rates this way to make the property more affordable for smaller groups who use less utilities and put less wear and tear on the house. If you enter the correct number of guests, the reservation system will calculate the rates correctly.

The standard cancellation policy is below. Note that some properties have more or less restrictive policies. Please see the rental agreement provided by your rental agent for details.
Cancellation of or changes to your reservation must be made in writing (e-mail or fax is acceptable). If you cancel more than 90 days before your scheduled arrival, 20% of the total rental amount will retained by Homeowner and the balance refunded to you. If you cancel 90 days or less before your arrival, 100% of your total rental fee will be retained by Homeowner. No-shows, late arrivals, or early departure for any reason, including but not limited to inclement weather or illness, are non-refundable. Homeowner recommends trip insurance to protect Renter against loss from such events.

"Best beach
The beach that this house sits in front of is amazing. We traveled with a newborn and a toddler, 4 adults and 4 kids ages 11-15. The kids all loved the option to have a gentle beach at the Venus pool as well as waves. We rented paddle boards and used the provided kayaks a lot. The swimming pool was great - it does look dirty even when it's clean due to the black bottom so just be aware of that. The house has a few quirks and needs a little fixing here and there - as island homes do - and after experiencing the difficulty of getting to Eleuthera, it's impressive that these beach homes can stay maintained at all. I'm sure it's difficult to get household supplies in general. We had plenty of beds and rooms for the 10 of us and the family with 4 older kids slept on the one side of the house while my family with the 2 littles used the 2 rooms on the other side of the house. The wifi is spotty in general so don't come here thinking that you'll be working remotely - nor should you want to! You will also need to rent beach chairs - they are not provided (the listing says they are) and you can't take the pool lounge chairs to the beach. There was a nesso tent for shade provided and a few sand toys like buckets/shovels and 2 puddle jumper flotation devices. The only suggestions I'd have is to get the dishwasher serviced - it left a greasy film on all the dishes after washing; and get some beach chairs for guests. I also emailed the owner twice before arriving to ask about shade accommodation but I wasn't answered. We ended up packing our own nesso tent and we were a little frustrated when we arrived that there was one provided. Traveling with 2 little ones causes a lot of luggage and it would've been nice to have one less thing to pack. The trees at the beach provide a lot of shade too. The house has a pack and play which was great. We also visited Receivers beach which had lots of good seashells and the kids loved finding them. "

Perfect place to kick back and relax.

"Ideal site for families with and without kids
We had 4 households w 11 people to celebrate a 70th birthday and it was ideal. The kids ages 18 months to 8 loved the pool and the easy beach access with a gentle reef to block waves. Loved having a generous outdoor and indoor dining table. The only surprise was how low the ceiling was in the studio as my son in law is tall. There are loads of pool and beach toys which is a treat. I highly recommend the place."

"5 star location and setting. House could use some upgrades.
This place is fantastic! The setting is amazing.
If you are looking for 5 star accommodations, this is not it. Electric and Water were out half a day each, but I am told that is not uncommon on the island. The rental is aged and of updates would be a great investment. It really did not bother us, as we stayed outside most of the time.
If your looking for a 5 star location, this is it!"

"An Amazing Location and a Wonderful Home
I can honestly say that the beach at On the Rocks was the nicest one we saw on the island. And, many people walking by the house said the same. We were visited daily by a variety of sea life including a large stingray. Though the rocks were not as full of coral and sea-life as we expected, they were beautiful nonetheless. We snorkeled everyday.
The house was clean and well-stocked. We enjoyed having two fridges. Also, we were close to Eleuthera Island Farm, which has fresh bread twice a week, a variety of fresh veggies and fruits, alcohol, and water. The market in town also provided us with the staples.
Kim and Patricia were amazing. They were responsive and extremely accommodating.
We drove down to Tarpum Bay one day and bought a huge hogfish snapper from the local fisherman which provided us with two dinners and fresh ceviche.
A couple of suggestions:
1. Purchase meat and dry goods before you go and bring them with you. The cost of a couple of luggage pieces is much less than purchasing on the island.
2. Buy your alcohol at the liquor store across from North Eleuthera Airport (if you arrive here). Though you would think otherwise, they sell their beer for cheaper than any place we found.
3. If you would like fresh fish the day you arrive, ask Bealuh (the woman who cleans the home). She provided us with fresh grouper at a reasonable price.
Overall, we loved the house and the location."

"First time visit to Eleuthera
Absolutely best location and best house for a family on Eleuthera. The location on the beach with the rocks and little protected cove was like a dream. The whole property was a breath of fresh air. Only issue was that the one tv never did work our entire stay. We weren’t in the house much so we didn’t mind, but would have been nice for the colder days. The host tired to get someone to fix it, but a piece was missing and then we couldn’t get the Apple login to work. Again, a drop in the bucket to the amazing place. Would definitely stay here again and again! "

"House needs a lot of work
The location is wonderful. Easy access, private, beautiful views, easy beach access.
The house on the other hand needs work. It had active termites in several rooms.Live termites, termite frass,and termite damage. Saw dust and termite frass would literally fall out of doors when closed. Louvered windows that don't close all the way, so heat and bugs seep right in. AC in the master bedroom wouldn't cool. I ended up sleeping in another room. There was no satellite TV as promised. Not even a box. Kitchen did not have AC (which was disclosed) but was never got cooler than 81 degrees. The house was somewhat dirty when we arrived. My wife spent the next morning cleaning. The housekeeper that was supposed to clean, never came. The pictures are very misleading.
I have stayed at a lot of places in the Bahamas, so I have a good idea of what to expect. This was not up to par. "
