"birthday weekend
Hello, This was a great place but for the money I would have expected more. The house definitely needs a deep clean. There was a lot of dust on the fan above the bed. The house smelled moldy. I think the carpet needs a deep clean. I was also bummed that the dryer was not accessible. We are at the beach and get wet so would love to have a place to dry our towels. Overall it was awesome view and it was great to be tucked away and start every morning in the hot tub! "

"Nice View but not a nice or clean house
We left early. The view was great. The ceiling fan was coated in dust, big time. The downstairs heater blows cold air, as does the fireplace ( using the upstairs remote). The hot tub was not clean, we didn't use it, but did lock it. The grill, not useable,no gas, rusted out. We did try to cook, but had to scrape gunk off the pan and utensils. Not a nice place (except the view) at all. "

"Not satisfied.
Trash was completely full upon arrival. Called management and they said they would send someone out to empty it, a guy came out and refused to empty the trash because the renters before me did not bag the trash properly. The unit also had not been cleaned. We found hair in our bed and cob webs throughout the house. lower level toilet kept clogging. They are on a septic system and have serious problems. My home is on a septic system and know what you can and cannot flush. Called management because the other bathroom is on the second floor in the master bathroom where are friends were staying. The next day management temporarily fixed the toilet, then hours later, the toilet started backing up again. My wife and I ended up leaving a day early because of the toilet issues.
The positive thing I will say is that the view is fantastic and you are within walking distance to the beach.
The management did not seem to care about the toilet and trash issues."

"Retreat/Recouperate/Revive
The Lookout was the perfect place for us. Not including Covid my husband and I have gone through a horrible year this year and needed a place to run away to/recouperate our lives and revive our energy. The Loookout had it all. Super private location, views to die for, the sound of the ocean from the windows and the hot tub was a super plus for us. Having the two living areas, one up and one down, to relax and watch the waves was very nice as well. We enjoyed our stay very much, it was hard to leave, and we will be back for sure. "

"Unbelievable views!
The views were amazing. Even with a rainy weekend, it was still so much fun. "

"Gorgeous Beach Home
We absolutely loved this house. The hot tub at night while looking at the stars and the sound of the ocean was fantastic. We also used the fire pit to relax and roast marshmallows. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. While there isn’t beach access from the home, it is only a 3-mini drive and short walk to be on the beach. We loved that it wasn’t crowded early or before sunset because it allowed our dogs to play easily. "

"gorgeous views, uncrowded beach- tsunami safe!
Very nice! one thing...the fire alarm kept going off when we were just cooking a very simple we had to open the doors to cook and then our dog would run out- so created some chaos. just a small thing - but you might want to check it out. looking out onto the ocean from the upstairs was just awesome. thank you"

"Secluded and relaxing!
We really enjoyed staying at “The Lookout”. The view is stunning and the top floor is delightful. Loved waking up to coffee in bed with that view! "

"Great Times
We love going to this house. This was our third time. The only setback this time was it felt like the upkeep was not as good. The towel rack in the bathroom was gone. One of the bar stools was very broken and my son was sitting down and he happened to notice, thank god no one was hurt. We used some of the blankets from the closets and this time there were a couple that were very dirty and not just dirt. Again we love this house but if you are not aware of things they cannot be fixed. "

"The Look Out did not disappoint!
We really enjoyed our stay. Cozy place with stunning view and a short walk to beach."

OVERALL A GREAT EXPERIENCE! We couldn't sleep downstairs due to a strong mildew smell, as long as the window or door was open we could stay downstairs during the day. BEAUTIFUL VIEW !! GREAT KITCHEN We think the parking could be improved by trimming the shrubs back widening that space _ especially if u have a truck. "

"Excellent Location. Family or Couple. Not private.
The very good: location! Fantastic views of the ocean, easy access to the beach from nearby Beverly State Park. The bad: Dealing with that very narrow steep staircase. Impossible to take your luggage up. But can do using outside stairway. Hey I'm 80 and I dealt with it. But was very careful to limit my climbs. The strange: The hot tub controls are upside down when read from the outside, where you will be when turning it on. For 4 days I had it set at 99. Never heated up. Then I realized it was set a 66, not 99. By then had desperately pushed all the possible button combinations. All the lights flashing, but I got it heated up. No instructions for the hot tub available. Lots of instructions on don't do this and that, but NO SPA INSTRUCTIONS. Called number provide, sent man out next day. Supposed to arrive 9;30-10:00. We gave up and left at 11:00. He came, but too late to get instructions from. We enjoyed the spa for the last two days. Very nice. Other stuff: well equipped with all the dishes, pots etc. No plastic glasses if you want a glass of wine or beer in the hot tub (I would never take glass into hot tub) so bought a couple and left them. Enjoy .. if someone does not take them. Upstairs master bedroom great for evening movies, etc. No DVD upstairs so had to improvise. Nice clean new tile, carpets, paint, cupboard. However, furniture thrift store quality. Not much privacy. People wandering by, cars driving by, from other nearby homes. Hot tub not private. Forget romantic candle light interlude in hot tub. No problem at all with plumbing mentioned in early reviews. Septic tank fixed and working. Weather. Lousy, Always!!! August dry season. No rain during my stay first week of August . Always cloudy. High temp 68 degrees F. Beach cold. 68 degrees!! In August, no less. Lots of excellent restaurants, beaches, sights nearby within 10-15 min drive. No UBER. Must have car. A bit overpriced. Great views. "

"We were absolutely amazed with our experience!
The home was gorgeous but having hot tub put it over the top!!! Great central location. Was able to see whales out in water right from our grass in front of Beverley Beach. Wow! "

"Beautiful view
Our second stay here. Love the view and access to nearby Beverly Beach. Only downside was some of the cookware we used was already dirty, the washer and dryer (which we were able to use last stay) were locked up, and there're no kleenex boxes in the place. "

"Great & Private Get Away
Overall, the house was wonderful & very relaxing. Private, somewhat secluded at end of wooded street overlooking & hearing clearly the oven's crashing waves. Was awesome! Perfect place to be undistracted by hustle & bustle of the city & tourist traffic. The only thing I was concerned about was the absence of curtains on the three 1/2-French doors & small window next to front door. The whole weekend, I was covering them with towels & taping up over the windows with packing tape. Kind of a hassle, yet being a female, solo- traveler, privacy after dark is very important, esp in a semi-secluded area. Other than that, I enjoyed my stay & would stay again if window coverings (they are available) were put in place."

"A Coastal Getaway
We stayed 6 days and the view on this place never ever quit. Beautiful. I'll start with the positives. Very clean. The view was amazing, the beds were both very comfortable. It's at end of a private drive with only 3 other houses with it being at the end. The hot tub was lovely and private. The kitchen was well stocked as far as pots and pans, silverware, utensils l, bowls etc go. There was some salt pepper and thyme in cupboards. There was no coffee provided so bring your own. It's a regular coffee pot that worked well. The bbq out back looks funky but it cooked just fine and the grill was clean. There is a lovely fire pit out front that overlooks the ocean. There is a lovely balcony that also overlooks the ocean. We are in our 50s and in decent shape but the stairs are steep and spiral and were difficult to go and down constantly. Take your suitcases up the back stairs it'll be easier if your older like us. Plenty of space for 4 people. Now for the only negatives. The couch and chairs were not that comfortable at least for us. It didn't matter cause you can lay upstairs on the bed in the master bedroom. Lots of books to choose from. Internet worked well and T.V. was okay with on Demand and regular programming which took some getting used to. I met the owner Rick on the last day which was a bonus. One last thing is that I would totally recommend this place to getaway. It's close to everything as well but away. Oh and Beverly Beach is a short walk away. You can also drive and park in the day use area if you need to haul stuff to the beach. Unforgettable getaway. "

"Geat view to wake to!
The place was better than the pictures showed. I thought the pictures were good, but the place was even better. Perfect for a family, easy to get to, beautiful views. "

"What a Lovely Place
We had a beautiful quiet comfortable week...the property is located in a great spot with no-one on one side and a quiet neighbor on the other. We were able to have our small dog with us. The walk to the beach was refreshing. Beds are very comfortable, lots of pillows to choose from. Recommend reistats on the switches...lighting is not easy on the eyes. Lots of dishes/pans to choose for size of home, kitchen is stocked well. Fireplace inserts a plus. Deck off top floor is definitely 'lookout' with full view quality. I will remember this is where many chapters of my book were written. Thank you, hopefully we'll have chance to be back!"

"Refrigerator and Septic system were malfunctioning
I would like a refund for staying 7 days without a refrigerator and dealing with plugged toilets and backed up showers during the holiday stay at the Lookout. We had to use ice to cool our food and beverages, stopped using the dishwasher also. A washer/dryer was advertised when we booked and later withdrawn, likely due to the septic problem. However, our rate was not reduced. "

"Lookout is a good name but not for the reasons you think
There was no laundry, location was just above 101, the upstairs kitchen had no glasses, dishes -- nothing, the downstairs bedroom smelled, the grill was disgusting (didn't use), the outdoor gardener decided to cut the grass/water the lawn -- he did ask but awkward if you wanted to use the hot tub, the upper outdoor deck only had 2 chairs -- guess you don't want to sit with your kids or guests
On a nice day it was pretty and easy access to the beach but definitely not worth the money"

"Needs some owner effort!
WE loved our stay and the location was perfect. However, if the owner spent a little more time focused on several simple items it would have been a 4 1/2 star vs. a 3 star. Example: Kitchen was very poor in supplies and cooking items such as pots and pans. For $600.00 he could completely update the kitchen pots/pans/glass ware/ etc. As it is, if you plan on cooking any meal there take everything you need. We went out and purchased many items for our 5 day stay. Also, the gas BBQ out back was a complete joke. The cover was worth more than the BBQ. I would have tossed that 3 years ago. So, bottom line: If you as a property owner want repeat business or even word of mouth business don't be so CHEAP and stock items that are a given. Also, we were there five days and never received one phone call about extra TP, towels, dish soap etc. So, we purchased what we needed. Other than those huge issues the place was amazing."

"What a trip
The look out was beautiful inside and out, I can’t explain the view other than it never got old. I plan on going back very soon. Though the access to the beach is difficult I had an amazing time and loved the house."

"The Lookout
overall loved the house but a few things need to be addressed. The twin bed was broke. The frame was busted. I cant believe the house was rented to us with a broken frame. The bed mattress was just about on the floor when my dad got in bed. We had to go buy dishwasher soap and tp. We were left two pods for the dishwasher for four nights but told to have all dishes done when we left. In the ad for the rental it says that the beds down stairs can either be two twins or put together. When I inquired about it I got a snotty response of no way. Overall We loved the house and location.

"Relaxing
View is wonderful especially from the upstairs bedroom. It is just big enough for four adults. Really our only complaint were the neighbors. One house was having a bachelor party and the other house was just partying. They started about 9pm and went until the early morning. It is a little bit of a walk to the beach thru Beverly Park but you can park if there are any spots. "

"Great views and location
We stayed her in June 2017. Very clean and wonderful location. More than enough room for 2 adults and a small child. Kid thought the spiral staircase was pretty cool. We aren't a tall family but the spiral staircase could be an issue for taller guests when walking from the kitchen to living room area so you just need to pay attention. We spent most of the time sightseeing or at the beach. Only downsides are there are only 4 or 5 stations on the TV if you plan on spending a lot of time inside at the property. Also, some blinds on the front door would be handy to keep the direct sun out when eating in the kitchen. Other than that, the property provides awesome views and there is very little highway noise considering its directly below the property. Could hear the waves crashing the whole time. Very private as well. We would stay again if given the opportunity."

"Coast vacation
The house was great other than hwy 1 being between the house and the beach a little more than a 10 min walk to beach its a 20 min downhill walk and a 30 to 40 min walk back all up hill the hwy is noisy if your on patio or in the hot tub"

"No real complaints, a fine stay
There were only a few little snafu's like the remote control for the DVD player did not work, even with new batteries. Also the night lights did not work upstairs. All in all however it was a great place to stay. "

"Very relaxing
We stayed for 5 nights. We saw whales several times, a bunny came to visit everyday, long walks on the beach, coffee in bed with a beautiful view. Quick 10 minute walk to the Beach thru Beverly Beach state park. Hot tub was nice. House was very nice, location was very private."

"Nice Location, Clean Home, Cramped Living Space
We were pleased with the location of the home, and how clean it was. It was well stocked with supplies, and we enjoyed our stay. However, this home is very small, and it has a spiral staircase to get upstairs inside the home, a straight staircase outside the home. We took our Great Dane with us, and she could not get up the spiral staircase. In addition, space is cramped around the spiral staircase, and my husband, my two daughters, and me constantly either bumped our heads or hit our backs on the stairs on the first floor. I don't think I would rent this place again based on the tight quarters. While the house has two twin beds downstairs and a king size bed upstairs, only two people fit comfortably in the living area - of course, paying close attention to that head-knocker of a staircase!"

"Another great experience.
This was my second time staying at The Lookout. To start, the location is great. Right next to Beverly Beach Park. Easy beach access even though you are across the road. The second floor bedroom with its panoramic views of the ocean are breathtaking. The kitchen is equipped with everything necessary to cook or grill a great meal. Ideally located close to shopping centers but far enough away to feel secluded. The hot tub was ready to go...just remove the cover and hop in while enjoying the ocean view. The first trip was with my wife, son and sister-in-law. This trip was for my mom. She loves the coast and was blown away by the house. She felt like a queen for the week we were there. The weather precluded us to enjoy the grill and longer walks on the beach, but having a front row seat for the storms that rolled in was amazing. We were warm, dry, and safe. This is a great place for a couple or small family to enjoy. "

"Beautiful
My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the lookout. The deck and master bedroom views are remarkable. No complaints except maybe tv (from my hubby) channel selection is very basic. "

"Amazing!
My boyfriend and I decided to rent this place for a nice little beach getaway and it was absolutely perfect. When we arrived it was very clean and everything we needed to know was right on the kitchen counter. It's a 2 bedroom but pretty small so I'd imagine it might get a little tight with an extra 2 people running around. In a previous review we read it had little kitchen supplies which I'm guessing the homeowner changed because there was everything we needed and more, even kids utensils and cups. We also enjoyed that the management was professional and there was really minimal interaction, everything went super smooth. The place is located off of highway 101 but you don't hear any car noise when you're outside just the crashing waves. It's also located on Beverly Beach park so it's a small walk down to the beach. You do need to drive about 10 min to get to downtown Newport and the historic bayfront, but that wasn't a problem for us at all. We loved how secluded and perfect it was. Overall an amazing stay from start to finish. "

"The Lookout
nice place but when we arrived I was disappointed to find that the 2nd bedroom did NOT have two twin beds as shown in the pictures it was a full....not the most comfortable for my two teenagers 14yr old girl & 16yr old boy. Also the bed had a comforter on it and in the corner was a large urine mark that was fresh showing the comforter was not cleaned. Vacation Beach Rentals did provide us with another blanket the fallowing day. The washer and dryer is not accessible so be aware of that as well. Do not book directly on VRBO/HOMEAWAY they will charge you a 62.00 fee and OBVR will also charge you a booking fee go directly through OBVR. "

"We love this beach house!
This is our second year staying at the Lookout. We meet up with our friends every year and have a winter beach weekend. We have booked this house twice now and love it so much! This house is now part of our adult beach weekend tradition. Hope to have many more years and memories in this place abc year! The only negatives this trip was the up stairs bath tub took forever to drain so you were standing in water during your shower. So maybe some drano? And also we were kind of bummed that we could not access the washer and dryer this time. It is very convenient having the option of a washer and dryer when staying at the coast. Other than that, we love this place and will continue to stay here each year! Even talking about booking during warmer weather and bringing the kiddo. "

"Fantastic views
We spent 5 days at the Lookout, which is aptly named. The house was very clean and comfortable with an amazing view from the 2nd floor bedroom and deck. Depoe Bay (one of our favorite coastal towns) is just 5 miles North. Beverly beach is a short walk to miles of unobstructed sand."

"Great Spot on the Oregon Coast
If you are looking for a spot with a great view of the ocean, minutes walk to the beach and a ton of amenities, this is it! I will agree with the rest that the spiral staircase can be a bit of a pain, but everything is upgraded and beautiful. Plenty of goodies in the kitchen, the hot tub is great although a bit over-chlorinated (don't wear a good swimsuit and definitely shower!). The views are amazing, the fire pit is great and there are only 4 places on this bluff and this happens to be at the end, which is wonderful for privacy. The other downside is that the barbecue is overdue for replacement. Don't expect a good meal from 's very hot. I would highly recommend staying here and will be back!! "

"Wonderful time
This was our family vacation and I have to say we had a blast and the beach house was amazing just what we wanted my husband and I got to relax and our kids enjoyed having a room to themselves and the fire pit which we roasted marshmallows in. Than you so much for making our family vacation the best hope to stay in that same beach house again with my famiky."

"Blustery, Backed Up Weekend
We had a lovely time until the toilet downstairs backed up. Septic system was clearly overloaded which prevented us from running water, taking showers or tidying up the kitchen. We felt badly about that but REALLY could do nothing else. It's an unusual home, but we enjoyed it well enough until there was poop in the toilet that wouldn't go down."

"Great mini vacation
Loved it! Brought the collies and they loved it too. We ordered take-out from Tidal Raves & ate dinner with the awesome view upstairs. It was better than any restaurant view (& quieter too!). The house has everything you need, so we were very comfortable. Definitely would stay again!"

"Saw a whale....
Cozy place. Love the view. Good location. Wish there was a fence for dogs. Also there is no access to the washer and dryer so bring extra clothes and towels. The pics are a little deceiving. You actually have to cross 101 or drive down to Beverly Beach State Park for beach access."

"Nice quiet restful stay.
We had a very nice week of mid-winter R&R at this delightful little house. There were only two of us, but it would be very comfortable for two couples as well. "

"Breathtaking views
"The Lookout" is perfect for 2 couples. The master suite has a king bed and a beautiful view. The downstairs bedroom now has a queen bed and is also very comfortable. It's not a huge living space but it was perfect for the 4 of us. We did have some plumbing issues just a few hours before departure but it certainly didn't ruin our trip. "

"Great getaway for storm watching
This unique, private and well appointed getaway was perfect for a beach getaway during a stormy Oregon January. The vista from the second floor is unsurpassed, regardless of the weather. The access to this area would be difficult for anyone with physical limitations. I "

"vacation from ****
Upon our arrival to the beach house for a 4 day getaway we noticed the septic tank lid was exposed in the front yard. Someone had uncovered it. Thinking that's rude when someone spent over a thousand dollars for 4 days to relax at the coast, why would we want to look at or smell the septic tank every time we walk out the front door. As we walked into the house we noticed it wasn't clean. There were dirty socks in the bedroom, smudges on the windows, popcorn on the floor. Not letting that ruin the trip we spent the day at the beach. Had a wonderful time. Noticing the barbeque early in the day and the ad stating it had one we bought some oysters and ribs on our way back the house to cook for dinner. We got everything ready fired up the old rusty barbeque and nothing happen. No Propane!!! seriously. Back to the store to fill propane for dinner.$25 for the propane. We cant take it with us. So we filled the propane for the owners or the next renter. Still trying not to let it ruin the trip, we woke up the next day to the toilet overflowing all over the bathroom floor. Remembering the septic tank lid was showing we walked out the front door to notice the hole where the septic tank lid was overflowing with sewage. Yes Sewage!! Now were done. We called OBV notified them of our dissatisfaction of the property to be told "we don't have a work order for a septic pump, would you like us to schedule one?" What? Were on vacation the last thing I want to do is watch the septic tank being pumped out. We told them we would like a refund or a new house. They said they would figure something out and call us back. After no call back waiting an hour we called them to be told they could put us in a condo but it would not be ready for a couple hours because it needed to be cleaned. Unacceptable! We requested a refund and got $200 back. No cleaning deposit, No propane refund. Disgusted. Waiting for OBV to respond to a complaint we filed for a better refund. "

"The Lookout
We will not stay at the Lookout again. This is our 3rd time staying at the Lookout. We love the location, jacuzzi, and fire pit. The first 2 times we called maintenance for lower toilet clogging. Thought maybe it was us. But this stay a notice was on the washer stating not to use too much water because of water backup. Lower toilet always clogged. Upstairs tub slow drain leaving a grimy mess. Called maintenance. Told old septic syst and nothing could be done. This home should not be available to vacationers. Who wants to fight septic on your vacation. We felt deceived. "

"Very nice home
The lookout was a very beautiful home. Great view of the ocean. Great location. Everything in the home worked and was clean. Well stocked with all kitchen needs. Hot tub is looking right out at the ocean along with a fire pit. Deffinatly a great place to stay peacful quiet. "

"Wonderful Spring Break
We spent a week at the Look out vacation home and absolutely loved the location. It was over looking the ocean and it was secluded. The house was very clean and was like a new home. The only things I wasn't happy with was the WIFI was weak, the channel selection was bad and the plates we all cracked. The pans need replacing because the non stick surfaces were gone and a simple eggs would take all day to scrap off."

"Ok! Maintance was Horrible!
Fine, until the hot tub didn't work! I called Saturday night and they said they couldn't bring anybody out to fix it! "

"Wonderful weekend trip
Stayed here for a three day weekend in January. The view from the master bedroom and deck is beautiful. We could sit for hours watching the waves and the numerous crab boats just offshore every day. The house itself is small but perfectly adequate for four people. The only disappointment was the poor selection and terrible condition of the cookware in the home. There was a very limited cookware selection and the non stick surface was practically nonexistent on all of them. But even that did not prevent us from enjoying the home and especially the view."
