.Summer brings a more relaxed and playful mood to Turtleback Lodge. The heat makes the water feel like a little slice of heaven...... what could be better than a raft, a cool drink and no schedule whatsoever!!?! The turtles were sunning like crazy in the cove the other day- there must have been thirty in one small place! The paddleboat is the perfect way to observe the wildlife and we have had guests tell us that it was the best part of their lazy days at Turtleback Lodge!
Located on a private peninsula, this rustic cabin is perfect for anyone interested in enjoying the tranquility of life on the lake. The cabin was constructed many years ago from trees that existed on the land and, although updates and amenities have been added, it maintains its authenticity. It is decorated throughout with local art, antiques, and historic memorabilia including an old fishing boat perched in the rafters. Kick back and listen to the sounds of the water rolling along the bank… Relax in the hot tub as a gentle breeze blows through the enclosed porch overlooking the water… Jump in for a swim (there are probably several warm days left this Fall to do this!) … Throw in a line for the many perch, crappie, bream, and striped bass that fill the waters… Watch the sun rise and enjoy coffee under the gazebo… Fire up dinner in the separate barbecue house… Curl up in front of a crackling fire… Or head into town to enjoy some of the many local attractions.

The cabin includes a full kitchen with a gas fireplace, dining table and separate bar, laundry facilities, full bath, a great room with a large wood burning fireplace and two day-beds, two private indoor bedrooms, additional sleeping available in a swinging bed located in the glassed-in sunroom, a hot tub, a patio off of the kitchen with a gas grill, a detached screened-in barbecue house, a floating boat dock, a fixed pier with gazebo overlooking the swimming area, and a private boat ramp. Satellite TV and a DVD player are provided. A paddleboat is also provided.
Stay on site and enjoy endless swimming, sunbathing, grilling, fishing and boating. Local boat and jet ski rentals are available for around $165 to $185. (Rates could change at anytime.) Or venture out and enjoy year round golfing, local dining, and other activities such as tennis, paint-ball, mini-golf, bowling, and biking. Visit some of the many cultural attractions such as the Greenwood Arts Council, Community Theater and Museum and be sure to check for seasonal festivals and celebrations.

"We stayed at Turtleback Lodge over our spring break with our two golden retrievers. What a find! Having the lake on three side of the house was wonderful. The cabin had every convenience we could ask for, but was rustic at the same time. The decorating is unique, and the boat in the rafters of the living room even has a light! We've traveled a lot and have rented houses in the states and in Mexico. This one was the best for the price and location. A great getaway."
